So the film by this same name that more than implies that they lied to IBM is wrong? For all these years people believed that Microsoft lied to IBM and that is not true.
What I took from this is that Jobs wanted Apple to be a "one-man band" whereas Gates understood that this was an industry...not a company. Gates had the maturity to work with other companies...allowing them to control their own destiny (while Microsoft concentrated on controlling the axle that holds it all together...the operating system.
If your read Steve Jobs book: Apple is about making the best products possible. Then making money. That is the reason why they are different. This is also why Steve was so obsessed about hoarding money. Make best products possible leads sometime to failure like the Cube and Newton. Both products that was 5 years ahead of its time. The whole mobile revolution today is thanks to Newton. Why? ARMh was founded to make processors for Newton.

steve jobs had a very narrow perspective of viewing things. When he saw a problem he focused only on that problem and was oblivious to other things going on. I think that was his biggest flaw and bill's advantage
