  • So brilliant !

  • maybe one day he will invite us around for a chat he is sooo iconic maybe cos i think he is grounded that type of person he played such a large part in my music and sexuality in my teenage years

  • good as get...

  • marvellous..exquisite..and my little friend when as allways....funny how some things just grab grab you

  • good music...

  • It is not simply Marvellous, it is EXQUISITE...!

  • Marvellous!

  • This is when the British underground got interesting with the Banshees and such. Great song!!!

  • One of my favourite AA songs from that age. Dark song and infectious guitar riff

  • Saw him in Falmouth - gotta say, he's still got the moves, and the sex <3

  • my hero saw him in leeds

  • utter classic

  • Simple song, simple video - simply captivating. One of my fave vids this - Adam is the King of the Wild Frontier! Can't wait to see him tonight in Liverpool!!

  • Been listening to this track for 30 years and hopefully for the next 30 too.

  • @davemacc904 Got album early 82. Lol! Thought WTF but it surely grew on me. Perceptive album. Music's top.

  • @Kelly14UK Yes a slow burner alright. Bought Dirk when i was 11 or something just after KOTWF. Took a few listens to get it but now couldn't be without it. How many 11 year olds are listening to stuff like this these days? Going to my first Adam gig in Newcastle next Sunday. Can't wait.

  • 3 ppl got pwned by Hitler!!!! ^.^

  • omg ive never seen this one! Thanks a ton!

  • yes i said love love love love love yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yes

  • @Simon4642 Nein! Nein! Nein! Nein! Nein! Nein!

  • yes i do

  • @Simon4642 fuc u

  • @Simon4642 Hitler killed u!!!

  • Masterpiece!!!

  • oooooooh man. watching these videos is torture. is there ANYWHERE I can get a copy of the DT DVD. i know it was withdrawn but know there's copies out there somewhere. any help out 'antpeople' would be greatly appreciated 'ANTMUSIC FOR DVD PEOPLE'

  • For Sexpeople. End of. Fan since '81. Pop superficial fan? Nah. Trust me on that. He inspired all my movie loves and Dirk is one of the greatest albums ever : amazing production, arrangement, design sleeve and inner jacket , musicians, lyrics ( everyone famous gets mentioned lol), tunes- with sparse sound effects. This is a great post- punk album to rival The Stranglers' Raven. Easily.

  • Three people are Nazis

  • Hitler's niece, darkened room and me droppin' you know what. 30-odd years ago, does life get any better than that?, DID life get any better than that?

Yeah, in bits, but we always fondly remember the things that helped to form us.

  • @wowteddyprof Or deform us as may be the case! I was an "innocent" prior to listening to Dirk. Well, comparatively so!

  • class...

  • 'How do you do tabletalk?'

And this is what she said:

    "Love love love love

    love love love yeah"

    "Love love love love

    love love love yeah"

    "Love love love love

    love love love love"

    "Love love love love

    love love love love

  • this is such a fabulous song. Yes - Adam was/is grossly underrated

  • I (rather strangely!!) called my cat Geli after this song in 1979.I do realise the song is about Hitler but still like the name.

  • Very cool - you can see a potential superstar when you take a look at this vid.

  • This was the first band I fell in love with in 7th grade now at 40 I still think they kick ass. the dual drums in some of their music was awsome.

  • I must own this Digital Tenderness dvd!

  • I don't care if Adam's a Royalist, the very thing I'm most certainly not, but to me, personally speaking, he was my first musical influence.

I spent all my pocket money on him, and I'd still testify to his Dirk album being up there with anything by The Clash, The Stranglers, The Damned and the Sex Pistols.

  • @Kelly14UK dirk wears white sox is a classic LP

  • Respond to this video... adam dancing amongst the dead leaves - pretty much sums up hitlers thinking

  • I really really really want to play this whole song on guitar. Can someone turn me onto where I can get tabs for this? I looked a lot of places and no luck.

  • "Dirk wears white sox" deserves to be "up there" with "The Clash" and "Never Mind the Bollocks..." IMHO.

  • Rad! want more....

  • Absolutely fantastic!! what more can you say really apart from cor !!! haha, love it!!

  • my favourite... but,,i like all the others too..hahaa

  • i met him...

  • The spastic dancing is intentional. It is interpretive dance. It actually matches the off beat rhythms of the song.Get it?

  • A Great song from a Fantastic.

Come back Adam, we need more Antmusic...

  • Truly brilliant as is the rest of the Dirk Wears White Sox album. This is definitely my favourite Ants song. Great video too. I just bought the digital remastered version recommend it to you all

  • Quite simply - magnificent.

  • I didn't there was video for this song. I love his songs.. and he's a hottie too!

  • What year was this?

  • 1979

  • Wow. This early stuff is fantastic.

  • i think if i met him at soem point in my life.. i could die happy :)

  • @TasteTheBase

i did. hung out with him quite a bit on the kings tour some 30 years ago. utter wanker. won't divulge the details here. but it really soured me on him. first album was pure genius. the rest was cartoon fodder.

  • @dingram3 what was so wankerish about him? He sent me a postcard thanking me for a card I sent him. That was sweet. Made my year.

  • @catjoyyoung that is so cool! ooooh, were did you send the card? I'll send one too!! :)

  • @budafranklin I sent one to him last Spring when he was in hospital. Just received one from him a couple of weeks ago :) Don't know his present address or whether there is a fan club that passes stuff on for him. Anyone know?

  • @catjoyyoung i think it just so wonderful that he would take the time to write you back. i hear good things about him. It was very sweet of you to send him a card also!

  • @budafranklin It was thrilling :) Ana I agree with your thoughts about him. I think he has a sweet soul. I have tried to post a link here to the images but with no luck. If you go to Flickr you can find my page at cathie joy young - then search Adam Ant postcard and you will find the images of it :)

  • @budafranklin oops - no - not on my flickr - on my Face Book - note sure if you will be able to see it. I will post to my Flickr and let you know.

  • @TasteTheBase You CAN go to the Indigo2 on 26/5

  • Awesome video and song!

  • FUCKING GENIOUS!!!

  • you people commenting on his dancing seem not to get it... his off-beat stops are great, never mind intentional(which they are) - it is brilliant actually.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah it is, this song is from the 70's

  • best album they ever did.......

  • Why do you inactivate embedding on the vids you share? :(

  • yeah. this is before Malcolm Mclaren sinks his hooks into his soul.

  • @Msosw And indirectly turned him into a massive star. I very much get the impression that Adam recognises that McLaren splitting up the Ants, (bastard!) was what really motivated him into becoming the household name he was to become. Still, one can't help but wonder what the follow up to "Dirk" might have sounded like without "Talcum" Malcolm's interference. One thing is for sure; it wouldn't have been anything like "Kings"!

  • @MisAnnThorpe Thank God for Kings of the Wild Frontier. But Dirk Wears White Sox was so clever, it can be seen as scary. To me though, the album is home : )

  • That is the coolest!! His dancing is so pre-Kings days... The whole Indian war dancing stuff....love it!!! He is still the best! What an innovator that does NOT get the recognition he deserves!

  • @msmichele48 it's probably cos he did so much shite

  • I can't believe his dancing in this! I love him to bits but this is bad! He comes across slightly disabled. He still looks cute though.

  • I've got one of those shirts......Adam looks better in it though. Damn.

  • Used to get ready for school every morning listening to this song -- 80's!

  • I love this tune more than life itself, but that dancing looks like FAIL, Adam!

  • just proof of how damn sexy he is. If you knew a guy that dances like he is in this vid you would beg him to stop, but AA can get away with anything:P

  • it was the 80s i saw alot of questionable dancing..lol

  • Adam Ant is the only person in the entire world that I would very much like to meet <3<3

  • wow never seen this before, is that a karl marx westwood seditionaries top adams wearing??

  • this is probably going to sound really shallow, but how SEXY is he in this vid? especially from the waist down... talk about pure sex legs!!!!!!!!!!

  • Agreeeeeeeed...!!

  • I so love this song.

  • I've picked out the intro for this on guitar, but i'd really like to find out how to play the rest.

    my yahoo is anthropomorphize71

  • I saw some sights with lyrics, and they got them wrong. It's not I don't like the arm your chair, It's arm in the air!

  • This is a super song. I can't believe it's Adam Ant! He truly was a genius before his time and unfortunately just couldn't have out done himself in the later part of his career.

  • Love this song. I like how 'dark' it is. The echoes part at the end reminds me of David Bowie a little bit.

  • Great song, great album!

  • this song is for sure not long enough

  • Do you think he was miming to a different version of the song? He's out of sync but sometimes he's too fast and sometimes too slow. Maybe he was hearing it at a different speed...

I love his dancing! I could watch him all day and not get bored at all.

Thanks so much for posting all these Zak, where on earth did you get it all from?

  • the Ants at there best.... who do you think he was singing about...

  • get that swastika out of here.... he was singing about Adolf himself.

  • The pre and post-Kings of the Wild Frontier bands were two different outfits; they might as well have had different names. I love 'em both - the art-Punk outfit of the late 70s AND the Burrindi-beat combo of the early 80s.

That the latter version, with that unique mish-mash of inspirations and noises could have ever been considered "pop" just shows how puerile and infantile mainstream music has become. If they were around today, they'd be considered avant garde.

  • its about hitler...........gellie was his niece

  • Incredible instrumentalists.. great band!!

  • Terrible video - but it is Adam and he is singing Tabletalk .. so it has to be brilliant.

  • This is so electric <3

  • here here, mate thanks for the e-maily

  • Some of you must have been at the marquee, rochester castle, railway tavern hampstead to name a few, but am i just a sad old git living in the past!

  • Saw them loads of times in the late seventies, great songs, bathroom function, song for ruth ellis, beat my guest.

Then what? goody two shoes. prince charming!! even had "ants" tattooed across my knuckles.Lasered off after they turned s**t.

  • nowt sad about it mate ,except for what that prick adam did after signing with cbs.but theres nowt sad about liking the muzik it was and is unique, origonal and er well its just good innit?

  • Yeah, but Adam wanted to be a superstar; that was his priority. And it worked -- it was the height of his career. Unfortunately, you're correct: the music prior to Goody Two Shoes was much better. As a whole, at least. But yeah, this is why you get something MEANINGFUL as tatt . . . a band isn't the way to go. I'm sure you learnt your lesson. however. ;-P

  • "music prior to Goody Two Shoes was much better. As a whole"

In what way? Had more potential as a popular song?

  • It was just better... Anyone can agree

  • Love Stuart's crazy little jigs and the way he delivers his songs! Quite brilliant!

  • Thanx to whoever smacked my comment.

    Not really.

The question was genuine, and I prefer terse informative commentary.

I guess it could look like somthing else, but it wasn't.

I'm sorry anyone thought it was anything beyond that.

Then again that's not really my problem...

  • To be honest, i'm a die hard Adam Ant and Captain Sensible fan, and i'm with you against these idiot- cowards.

Really bugs you when you get a Red when you've spoken your heart out, doesn't it?

  • Great song, from a brilliant album, I saw them live several times in late 70's & early 80's, great stage show. Thanks for posting.

  • This is awesome, the very best Ant album ever recorded....this is pre-punk, but just listen to the bassline, the drums and the guitarparts....beautiful....but very punk!!!

Love it, thanks for posting, added to my favorites!!!

  • Awesome, yes.

    Beautiful, yes.

    Pre-punk?

    Nope.

    This is post-punk.

But I guess that's what you meant?

    Added to my favourites too.

  • A bit cheeky...aren't we??

  • pre Marco yes...

    pre 80's yes...

arguably the best of ant from the 70's this deserves a plus..lol, pre marco and maclaren... A++++? lol...

  • If you was not such a dick ass then you would respect Soapies comment...

  • This is the original video, back in those days videos wernt any better. Classic IMHO.

  • i know, he looks like a little shy boy here

  • fan since 81. bloody hell i didn't know this existed.

  • wow! awesome. just been playing the Dirk wears white sox album today. cannot believe someone found a video for this track.

  • dont understand how there is one as this was never a single.

  • i actually cant believe this was shot from a roof.

  • 100 STARS.

  • Such a cool song, love Ad's xx

  • My fave track on Dirk wears White Sox. Classic.

  • This is the first ever song that made me cry. I still have no idea to this day. It just makes me feel so melancholic. Love the early Adam and the Antz

  • Brilliant - still a classic

  • He's only in his early fifties....

You hate the guy for some reason?

  • Wow, weird to think this is almost... 40 years old! I think old Adam Ant tunes like this really stood the test of time.

  • no, typo, meant 30! But still.. old!

  • i like the dancing

  • Wow, what a thrill running across this video. I have the album and it is still great condition even after the hell I put it through, listening to it over and over again. This is my Favorite song, and favorite album

  • never seen this great, just as good as my Decca cassette which i may ad is better quality than the stupid box set that came out ages ago, wheres all this stuff on DVD? Catch the in bondage bootleg Cd its great. Some indie label should round up these old vids -theres a market for it

  • NEVER thought I would see or hear this jem of a tune! I finally found this song after years of searching for it in a dingy pub that had the best juke box ever and resigned myself to the fact that I would never hear the wonderous creation that is Tabletalk outside of that establishment again... until now of course. This site never ceases to amaze me, whoever posted this is a God and deserves the holy Dirk Wears White Sox medal!

  • wow i didn't expect to find this, my fave track on white sox...brilliant

  • mind blowin

    made my day

true london punx followed the original antz

saw them live at the lyceum

    before the poppy stuff :)

looks so cool and still sounds ahead of time today

who remembers the green macs and alan jones badges then?

  • love this song, apologies for previous 3 comments, my daughter hijacked the pc and was being a complete arse !! one of the best old tracks there is xx

  • LUCIOUS

  • Nice one. Adam's wearing a Vivienne Westwood shirt from the Sex shop, wouldn't mind owning that!

  • Wow, didn't think there was any videos of the Dirk tracks,

I Agree with Muddy.. Best played last thing at night

  • He was so brilliant....sorry..brilliANT.

  • yep he definitely look like a good tennis player I have to say...

this song is GREAT. the video is so simple but I like it too!

  • I love this song but prefer the demo, his voice is so beautiful it doesn't need fx. Also, does anyone else think he looks like a crazed tennis player towards the end?

    I love Adam Ant!

  • Lovely stuff! Basically the video is boring as hell, but Adam is so mesmerising that I kept watching! He's probably the only man I fell in love with 30 years ago...

  • I look like him

  • id like to be in his underwear once!! get his talent....no other reason.

  • Yep. Not a month gone by over the last... (counts on fingers) 28 years (!?!!?) when I didn't put this on. And I still have my original copy :)

  • The greatest late-night track of all time.
