this tire is what insight 2 2011 has? I browsed through hybrid bikes, and that is the one I like the most, but it really like a "bad boy" bike because of it black color ... donnu what to choose. 2010 insight 1 imo has too thick body.
but if you can tell me if this has the same tire that would be a good thing because the tire is the second i'm looking after on 2011 insight 2
@chickioI86 -- Regarding the tires. I don't imagine that any bicycle would come with these tires as standard equipment. I typically equip my commuting bicycles with run-flat or puncture-reistant technology. You can get a special coating inside the tire to protect the tube. Also, I really like having very high pressure capacity tires on a commuter bike. Like 90 pounds of pressure. It rides so much easier that way. So, these tires are a hybrid between street tires (with good traction) and race.
@chickioI86 -- I'm not sure what you mean by outer coats. You mean painting? Sorry. I should know. With this bicycle, and the video review, most people thought it was funny that just about every component has been replaced. So, it's not a very good review of the bicycle as it came with its stock components. I actually thought it was okay from the store, it's just I really like these other upgrades (seat, pedals, tires, brake pads, grips). Let me know what you meant by outer coats. Thanks.
I just purchased the hybrid 1 of this years model. Just a quick question...the hybrid 2 states that its more for mountain and road biking but this one says its more for commuting. So does that mean its not recommended to mountain bike with this model? I noticed insight 2 has some sort of flat free tires, which is different from that of the insight 1. I suppose thats the difference. How do the tires hold up though?
very nice review, i am currently looking for a hybrid performance bike either the insight 1 or 2 or the Lamborbhini not sure yet.. but your review did helped me a lot. Thanks.
@d3ltuh -- Regarding the music track... I'm usually really good about transparency and open source documenting of all my video work. I'm surprised I didn't include information about that music in the description. It's now been a while since I made it and don't recall what the soundtracks were. However, I know they are part of what was included with iMovie at the time. They are the stock music soundtracks. So, if you're looking for them, they may be hard to find unless you have an Apple computer.
the insight, it offers quality make it good for commuting cheap enough that it is not target for theft In addition as you pointed out it is easy to modify for commuting. I am 53 and i ride this bike 4 miles one way to work over hills I have the Insight RS which is the same frame as the Insight 1. The Rs does come with fenders and a nice rack which I hang my bag. Negative the drive train which is a lower grade than the Insight one. Then i replaced the cheap seat and petal just for road
Pretty decent review. All these folks harping about how poor this vid is, I hope they can post a better vid of their own. Good vid for what it is (improptu, unscripted review). I really like the Insight platform - I've upgraded my rear v-brake, added a front drum brake, drop bars and numeerous other things. I've also converted it into an ebike (check my vids) and I hardly ever drive my car. This thing's just a blast!
it would be more helpful if you reviewed the actual bike. You know, weight, ride comfort, rider fatigue, street vs dirt performance,OUT OF THE BOX, you know, things that would be helpful. Anyone can bolt on accessories and drop another 100 or so. Friendly guy, but not a good review.
@GreenDestiny -- Good points. Thanks. This was actually one of my first video reviews of anything, and it was unscripted. So, I was mostly doing it as an improvisational piece. The "review" morphed into more of a commentary about some of the accessories that a person might want when converting a bike (any bike) to become more commuter friendly. It would have been nice to show actual footage of riding the bike. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@59isfine --- Regarding the mounting. I presume you are referring to the way that the rear rack is attached. My recollection is that the rear fender and the rear rack share the same braze-on threaded mounting hole. I know that some touring bikes have more than one, but as I recall mine just has one. You can use longer screws in such cases. I really like having braze-ons with a bicycle because they are cleaner and less likely to come loose. Of course, the alternative is to have straps.
@59isfine -- I'm not totally clear about where on the bike you are wanting to know about the braze-ons. I can go take some pics of them and post them if you like. Nicer bikes have braze ons for the four contact points of a rear rack. Two near the seat and two near the base of rack. I'll go out and take a closer look and then post some pics.
I found this review totally useless as all the points covered were about all the optional equipment he put on the bike and nothing was really said about the actual performance of the bike itself.
jwaeyen -- Thanks for taking time to watch the video and comment. The review was partly about this bike, but more about this class of bicycle (in the $300 to $400 range) and what commuters should consider when purchasing one. The bike has done well over the past two years other than the problems mentioned in the entire review linked in the description.
HI!! i watched this video a couple of times before buying my bike almost a year ago! i bought the blue insight 1 '09. i tested the bike before buying it found the breaks were squeeking too i asked the guy he said it really needs a tune up! but i did like your video helped me with my purchase of the insight and a little idea of hybrid bikes! thanks =]!
You're welcome. Good luck with what you get. Hybrids seem like a good compromise between the traditional road bike which can't take much strain and an off-road bike that is rugged, but may be less efficient to ride due to weight, tires, shocks, etc.
I was partly joking when I said that. However, I have notice that people just don't hear traditional bicycle bells. Even when I say, "bicycle" they don't hear me over the noise of their music. What's funny is that everyone hears these brakes. So, it actually ends up being helpful.
Jezus, are you reviewing the bike or all the accessories that you added to the bike? None of the accessories are even from DiamondBack. You didn't even ride it in the video.
I didn't have a camera crew to follow me and the time limitation of 10 minutes didn't give me much opportunity to ride during the video. I had my own camera on a tripod. The reason for reviewing the accessories is to show people what they might want to add to the bike to compensate for limitations of the bike, so that's how it relates.
Great review with lots of helpful tips. I actually just bought this bike today for $250 and already have it decked out for commuting. I'll be installing a Cyclone Ebike kit soon so I can finally get rid of my car. Great work and ride safe!
I am interested in getting a new bike, something efficient and reliable. I went to Dicks sporting goods and they have a lot of good looking Diamondback bikes. Is a Hybrid bike a cross between a road bike and a comfort bike or a road bike and a mountain bike?

Did your bike have 1 braze on for the bottom bracket? If yes, how did you fasten it?
