Weed is the cartels bread and butter. 19,000 people have died over what most people don't even consider a crime in my community. Alcohol should be illegal. I have never seen a stoner beat his wife and crash his car into a church bus. They usually sit quietly on the couch, play x-box, and eat donuts. :-)

I think generally the government shouldnt prosecute small time users. If their lives are falling apart they will commit small crimes and get locked up for that. Perhaps get child welfare involved if they have kids. However the large pushes absolutely you need to go after those people. Its a question of society and economics do you want addicts to swill hooch or do heroin? Obviously you want perfection but if you can price hard drugs out of peoples hand absolutely do it.
