Quick question... the arm you're using to grip the collar is doing all the pulling, and the opposite arm is just posting on your elbow? I ask because my buddy and I were practicing new things and I was pulling on the collar and shoving with opposite elbow. All it did was crank his neck.
i don't really get this choke... i can see what keith does with his right arm, but what does the left arm do exactly and where is his hand holding to? is he trying to push his left arm into the other guy's neck or?
there is nothing new here...... like all Neo-Jujitsu people he is taking credit for something he just learned. Im surprised he didnt name it after himself or give it some entirely new idiotic name like those Brazilian or 10th planet people do all the time.
Thanks Ken. Great video. You are an awesome instructor. Thanks Ari, for hosting them. And Ari, when are we going to see your instructional videos again?
@zimmermandk Soon. I've taken a year and a half off doing them. I am currently filming my new dvd called Headlocks and Haymakers which will deal with JJJ (arresting procedures and street application of jj). Then, I am back at it on Sub 101.
i've been choked by prof sauer with this choke and it's def a chank(choke/crank). he demo'ed it on me so it should have been perfect technique and it was def a chank
Yep this one is nice. Murilo Bustamante showed us this variation in a seminar last year. It makes it easier to finish the choke when they are protecting their neck compared to struggling for the lapel.
@Submissions101 it's a blood choke, but you are compressing the artery on the side you grab the collar, on the other side you are just pushing with the elbow. In most blood chokes i.e rear naked, arm triengle, etc. you compress BOTH. Does this still work even if one side of the neck is not compressed, but cranked? I think it hurts more than chokes. Just an opinion, i might be wrong. GREAT video

you look at Pedro Sauer and think to yourself "who is that old man?" and then you watch these videos and you are humbled. LOL

It appears as if you are giving him an arm triangle choke in the process…

so is it like a neck crank kinda??
rhdadrian 11 months ago
@rhdadrian Nope. Its a choke (strangle) in every sense of the word.

@Submissions101 looks like it would act on the windpipe rather than the carotids
JiuDoRick 11 months ago
@JiuDoRick Its a blood choke my friend ;-) You gotta try it. Videos can only give you so much detail. Jiu Jitsu is an art which you must FEEL.
Submissions101 11 months ago 5
@Submissions101 I'll take your word for it. If that's the case then it must operate like a lapel choke from the back

@nahuelfantino You don't have to choke both carotid arteries to blood choke someone.
