  • I think same credit must receive the cat created by the scientists. It doesn´t catch the mouse! :D

  • Erm, it's not like the cat cares less either, so does it matter if the mouse has no fear?!

  • nothimg usefell in this exper .. it's known that most animmals depend mainly on their smell sense to attract or get away from anything.

  • create new human bio weapons!

  • Seriously, how is this useful? Why are governments and private enterprises wasting money funding rubbish like this when there are much more pressing things to research - such as cures for world-threatening diseases?

  • Yeah, because it's not like understanding how the brain and genes works is important in the goal to improve medicine and treatment of diseases. ;)

  • Some genetic diseases, perhaps. But I don't think eliminating survival instincts is going to help a great deal with that.

  • It may however help to better understand our own instincts and fears.

It's not like they did it just for fun, they learn things about genes by doing this.

And learning about genes may help to prevent stuff like Alzheimer's Disease in the future.

But I agree that it at first glance seems stupid. Better watch out for those fearless killer mice before they take over the world. Maybe Douglas Adams was right after all :)

  • Or at least spare my offspring from my senseless fear of red broccoli XD

  • I can see where your last point might come in handy ;)
