@12badmired.. Not disagreeing that Don Walker is a fantastic lyricist - able to tell a unique...but to call him the best Aussie song writer of all time is a very big call. I'd put him up there (imo) with Paul Kelly, and Joe Camilleri - perhaps they have had more critical success due to the fact they fronted their bands..... Check Nick Barker's newer stuff for a great story too.
spot on about Don Walker. The beauty of their music is in the lyrics. Ian Moss - great guitarist and James Barnes could sing well 20 years ago but Don Walker is the genius in the band.
Its sad to see Jimmy Barnes murdering Chisel songs these days. Take a look at the video for Choir Girl - great vocals but that was 30 years ago sadly
@Jaffa1311 If you were at the Telstra 500 in Sydney you wouldnt be saying that, best show ive seen. Granted this isnt Barnseys best performance. Barnes is still in a league if his own. Anyone saying Walker is Chisel is doing a massice disservice to Moss and Barnes.
Gotta disagree - I reckon the majority of the 'Chisel' sound came from the band working off of Don's songs. Having said that, Mossy, Jimmy & Steve all threw in some brilliant songs.
the singer of this song isnt a raging homosexual

Yes it is. "her Majesty's Hotel" is an Australian term for prison.
Four walls, wash basin prison bell.
Great song,

Don Walker wrote all the best Chisel songs, including this one.
johnestringer 2 years ago
He wrote most of them, but When the war is over, arguably the best, was written by Prestwich.
