  • Hey guys, what are you all fighting for?! Enjoy the songs man. It's all about respect. Black metal is all we want and worship. So what is this America or Norway?! Every black metal band is respectable.

  • Hail to the Black Arts!

  • Towards the Pantheon- the most expressive, atmospheric and symphonic anthem... ALL HAIL THE EMPEROR

  • Addictive! I still listen to this album with as much pleasure as in 1994...

  • this album changed my life \m/

  • Venom

  • this is black metal ,dude! emotions are for the weak! lol

  • is the crowd dead? -.-'

  • so glad i saw this footage.

  • I listen to Swedish Metal, but this is kinda disturbed Oo they only scream,I cant understand any word :O The instrumental is cool but ... disturbed in my ears

  • i swear. every song emperor has ever done, is fuckin beyond golden!!!

    dissection-storm of the lights bane

    borknagar-borknagar

    arcturus-aspera hiems symphonia

burzum-aske this is all you need .there are other good bands/albums but you cant do much better than these 6

  • No Summoning?

  • @mattheffernan1 you just fulfilled my evening.

  • Europe makes the best metal hands down then it is north america like usa canada. Then third would be asia

  • shut up your fucking mouths and enjOy the scream 1:00 to 1:24 this is pure HATE!

  • The best music comes from the countries in the Scandinavian Peninsula..

With few exceptions for America and Britain.

  • No, metal is meant to be an underground genre. If it tried to appeal to a wider fan base, it would only lose it's appeal.

  • That's a contradictory statement. Achieving a wider fan base will increase it's appeal to this new, greater fan base.

  • Poor choice of words on my part. What I meant: In order to appeal to a wider fan base, black metal would have to tone itself down to be marketable and easy to listen to, thus significantly decreasing the elements that make it a great style of music in the first place.

And my comment about USBM was exaggerated, but only to counter decimater's statement. I'm a fan of some USBM, but Norway shines for it's early classic, if you will, black metal bands, while USBM seems to be more avant-garde

  • not that avant-garde is a problem, of course. In fact, I'm a fan of many bands that have strayed far from black metal to be almost unrecognizable, but still have influence from it; Agalloch and Krallice, for example. Though also bands that are closer to traditional BM, such as Wolves in the Throne Room.

  • Black Metal is the most open and diverse genre in extreme metal. It doesn't limit itself to tremolo picking, blast beats, and screeching vocals as many people think it does. So I would agree, experimentation is definitely not a problem.

BTW I live in northern California. Agalloch is a very local band.

  • I disagree. If a band wants a wider fanbase it won't make the style of music you described, the'll pull a dimmu or cradle and make "evil" or "scary-sounding" music to attract little american 10 year olds who like slipknot. The problem is that this new audience isn't at all favorable. Maybe you were referring to legitimate black metal listeners when speaking about appeal. Then you would correct.

  • Dimmu and Cradle is kind of what I meant. I guess easy to listen to didn't make as much sense, but I know Slipknot kids that think legit death/black metal is shit.

  • About Norwegian and Scandinavian black metal. The only special bands I can perceive are Emperor and Gorgoroth. The others are just mediocre. Sure the others are famous, but does that make them special? Is that the purpose of Black Metal, to achieve fame?

  • Not at all, but it's important to acknowledge what Norway did for the BM scene.

  • Ihsahn is soooooooo hawt i wanna be gay 4 him

  • Old stuff was the BEST!! Nightside eclipse remains a icon of the 90's, i prefer best then when black metal was realy harsh and beautifull, i had this cd in 95, and i realy enjoyed it when i travelled in Finse, an amazing glacier mountainrange in Norway, some years later..

  • emperor in my opinion was one of the most successful bands in the Norwegian black metal...

  • holy crap, are Ihsan's giant shoulder pads really that old?? haha

  • i like how in Germany there was no security and that dude jumped up on stage and stood there

  • el mejor album de la historia :) esto si fue black metal junto con otras bandas escandinabas ...tambien oigan a esta pinche banda que esta chingonsisima.. SARGEIST y CELESTIAL BLOODSHED very good these bands

  • so much fucking energy! so much fucking feeling! god damn I wish I could've lived in norway during those days.. I would've loved to be apart of the black metal scene there.. But unfortunately I have to live in this shit hole america..

  • not when it comes to black metal, sorry.

  • Norway birthed the black metal scene dude. American black metal is shit compared to Norway.

  • haha dude idgaf cuz i dont listen to satanic music lol

  • The music itself is more important than the message behind it, especially since its relative to the listener. Besides, most black metal musicians are pagan, not satanic.

  • You obviously have no idea what "pagan" is.

  • pussy

  • im a pussy for not liking a dude who stabbed a gay guy to death for hitting on him..last i checked sane/normal and pussy werent interchangeable..maybe im wrong though

  • They both have their positives.

  • "American black meta is shit compared to Norway"

When you listen to every piece of USBM, then you can make that judgement.

  • I wouldn't say USBM is shit, since it has some good bands. Krieg, Von and Black Witchery are examples, but european bands are quite better. Norway was great until 1994/95, after that the only good bands I can remember are Limbonic Art, Beastcraft and Mare, but is also true that Norway was very important to the development of Black Metal.

  • Saying a country or continent's music is generally better than another's is foolish because unless you get a taste of the entire musical output of each side then you got nothing. Even if you achieved this, it would still be just your own personal opinion.

Norway was indeed key to the development of Black Metal but I feel in more recent times its music has become rather overrated. Norway is also responsible for the superstar black metal acts that have attracted a large but unfavorable audience.

  • the only good american band is Slayer.

  • youre a big sack of fail.

  • Fucking badass!

  • in my opinion, best black metal album of all times

  • Good old Black Metal times.........

    How i miss those days!!!!!!!!

My favorite album from the Emperor

    \,,/

  • Yes, unfortunately those good old days cease to be...

  • One of my favorite songs ever!

  • Emperor, the best black metal band ever!

  • Dam that's a good singer, songwriter, guitar player and all in all a black metaler. The scream of towards the pantheon is mind blowing.
