doesn't matter if it's gay or not. this movie implies to everyone that love cannot be enclose to one meaning. It's a basic human instinct neither you can explain.
People just being so scary about Discrimination, from the others, cuz of that they hide there selves in lies. "Just close your eyes and feel, people besides of you, and you will/shall understand the meaning of LOVE IS BLIND!"
He told him: "I still love you" and parted ways. He didn´t say: "I love you as a friend" and accept it people, it is a strange thing to say in such situation.
Everyone knows that is because his mom wouldn´t approve it, but he even asked his mom what would she do if he wanted to put those two little dolls together. And to add more proofs of it, Tong was the most desperate one searching for Mew when she tried to bring them apart. They just accepted their relationship wouldn´t work around Tong´s family and out of love they sacrificed their relationship for that family.
It is not gay neither straight. It has contents regarding all three forms of sexual orientation, but what is essential about the movie is that it shows multiple expressions of love, which is the greatest and most powerful force in the universe.
I think that the love between Mew and Tong was a couple and a gay one, because at the end he doesn´t tell Mew that he doesn´t wanna be his boyfriend, instead he tells him he can´t be his boyfriend.

in my personal view, it is not a gay movie. it just so happened that half of the movie evolved on the relationship between 2 teenage boys, but come to think of it, are they just only confused with their sexuality at that time? no part in the movie that neither of them have confirmed about their sexuality. in general, it still showed strong family values that no matter what happens, family sticks together. one of the best films i've ever seen...
in my personal opinion, i feel that this show ain't totally revolving around the gay theme. honestly, many other form of love are showed in the film- family love, love for friends and the deeply-etched bonds. look at the dysfunctional family being portrayed, the difficulty to accept the death of one's close kin(the grandmother and mew). yeah. =)
for me, this movie is about losing someone and moving on. mew lost her grandmother, parents lost their daughter, Ying lost mew, Tang lost her family and mew...well did not completely lose tong but in the essence it's like that. so they have to learn to move on with their own lives and believe that love really exists! so sad but it's true. i love this movie.
Nice saying. I also like how Mew said "Can we live without trying to love someone" even though we might face a separation one day, but it's better to try to love and keep move on when it doesn't work out that way.

The movie is great in a sense that it captures the realistic drama in a conservative asian society. Love of Siam's focus isn't about homosexuality, it's only a part of it. It deals with sexuality in general and family values. Trying to find the answer to who you are and what you are in a sea that is in turmoil, called life.
the movie is not a full-gay-movie but the movie doesn't focuses on the love of mew and tong. the movie focuses on the kind of love we give. and the movie is a multi-layered family drama with gay romance.

Well say, I totally agree. I was very close to a guy friend, a straight guy when I was kids. We were so close and I have a crush on him, but he never knew til these day. I am so far away from him. Haha it is difficult to disassociate actors from the characters they are playing. Sometimes i prefer not getting to know the Actor that played the character outside of the movie, because that would tarnish how i would see the Actor AND the character.

in my personal view, it is not a gay movie. it just so happened that half of the movie evolved on the relationship between 2 teenage boys, but come to think of it, are they just only confused with their sexuality at that time? no part in the movie that neither of them have confirmed about their sexuality. in general, it still showed strong family values that no matter what happens, family sticks together. one of the best films i've ever seen...

in my personal opinion, i feel that this show ain't totally revolving around the gay theme. honestly, many other form of love are showed in the film- family love, love for friends and the deeply-etched bonds. look at the dysfunctional family being portrayed, the difficulty to accept the death of one's close kin(the grandmother and mew). yeah. =)

for me, this movie is about losing someone and moving on. mew lost her grandmother, parents lost their daughter, Ying lost mew, Tang lost her family and mew...well did not completely lose tong but in the essence it's like that. so they have to learn to move on with their own lives and believe that love really exists! so sad but it's true. i love this movie.

Yes, it is a gay movie. Just because it deals with other issues, doesn't mean it isn't. Ultimately, the attraction between the two main characters is what gets the movie going and holds it together.

I think that is not a gya movie, This movie shows the love, but not the kind of love we always think, "lovers", is just a strong friendship, Mew and Tong were friends, and Tong support mew in his hard times, so Mew felt a very strong affection for Tong .. Tong love him too, but he was not gay , like a brother.. it´s difficult to explain, but it depends how you see this movie, for me it was just a lovable frienship ^^ .. mario is NOT gay ¬¬ is just acting people!

The movie is great in a sense that it captures the realistic drama in a conservative asian society. Love of Siam's focus isn't about homosexuality, it's only a part of it. It deals with sexuality in general and family values. Trying to find the answer to who you are and what you are in a sea that is in turmoil, called life.

the ending plot was different but it made sense after a while.

Meaning he loves him and will only date him after he helps his dad recover because thai people are very close with their family. So yeh. hope that made sense :)
tong and mew are a cute couple.
it also allows us to think what the plot should be. HOPE THERES A SEQUEL!

Heard abt this movie last yr but only watched last week. Altho the movie covered diff forms of love, fact is the main theme is gay love. With our conservative society, believe most wld not watch the movie. But it does not matter as long as you like it. I love the movie, the Songs and August Band. Their music are so nice to listen to even tho I dun understand Thai. Hv been listening to the songs everyday. Not tired but addiction. Long Live Mario, Pchy and August Band. Will always support u.

Haha it is difficult to disassociate actors from the characters they are playing. Sometimes i prefer not getting to know the Actor that played the character outside of the movie, because that would tarnish how i would see the Actor AND the character.

i my opinion, this movie not only exist to Tong and Mew, but also for "tang/june", the grandmonther, the love of "ying". the message is all about love, different angle of love, to family, to someone, to a friend. and to love someone and if that someone's gone. learn to accept the truth that life is like that.

But isn't it better to love & get hurt out of mistakes make for love than choosing not to love for fear of getting hurt? Is it possible for one to live without love after-all? Timothy Lim(Skymount37) thinks part 07 of 17 of the film is the essence of the theme on love of the film. I watched this film about 10 times on the big screen & sometimes still cry thinking of some of the scenes. Is Gay just a label? Isn't it suppose to mean Happy? Isn't Love suppose to be universal, transcending gender, race, culture, sexual orientation & so forth....?/ Do you believe in love? offer to be his girlfriend, and Tong breaks up with Donut because of his feelings for
Mew. Towards the end, Tong says he can
not be his boyfriend yet that doesn't mean
he doesn't love him. Go figure.
I also love my son, my grandma, and our
dog. The other levels of love exist in many
families worldwide. Gay love? That's ok,
as long as both are consenting.
