The main character is Kurt Cobain, but he isn't. He looks exactly like Kurt and dresses exactly like Kurt. But this is not Kurt Cobain'. Confusing.
Michael Pitt is really hot in this movie that is true, I also liked the actual movie but not because of that lol. It was boring at times and the scenes were too long but I went by quickly and I liked the atmosphere. Too bad gus van sant didn't add in more images and created some more story because than it would of been more interesting.

In real life people don't fight zombies and robots everyday, they sit around and talk and go about real life activities, like smoking and philosophizing with each other. Didn't Cobain suffer from depression? I mean, I am not really into Nirvana (well, not anymore) but it always seemed that he suffered from depression, and if he was not taking his medication (which I don't think 'heroin' was the one prescribed) then his 'last days' could have very well been like this. This does not mean that Cobain was not a great person, hard working musician, it just means that his last days could have very well been like this....or Blake, or whatever.......

Michael Pitt is good, but I believe this was a role River Phoenix was born to play. Probably would have too, since he had worked with Gus Van Sant before. RIP River & Kurt.

Please stop referring to this character or film as 'Emo' .This director and his vision are from a time with a zeitgeist before Emo, which Emo is a pale mockery of...the way people in the 90's turned the meaning of the 60's into nothing more than flared jeans, Emo is nothing like this movie or actors or director or any of the project's inspiration.Emo is a fashion, a 'put-on' ;fun and interesting but not about the Grunge Rock history or it's environment which was about Truth through difficulty .

Didn't Cobain suffer from depression? I mean, I am not really into Nirvana (well, not anymore) but it always seemed that he suffered from depression, and if he was not taking his medication (which I don't think 'heroin' was the one prescribed) then his 'last days' could have very well been like this. This does not mean that Cobain was not a great person, hard working musician, it just means that his last days could have very well been like this....or Blake, or whatever.......

@stephbill123 it's not explicitly Kurt cause doing a movie about him would've been almost impossible with all the problems that had been going on between Courtney and Krist and Dave it would've been impossible to use the music, etc, etc, etc... so Gus Van Sant "created" this work of fiction so he wouldn't had to deal with that... but the character is VERY MUCH based on him, I personally can't help thinking about Kurt Cobain watching this trailer...

@melavzla i agree that the character is based on kurt cobain, my comment was just in reply to all the people getting angry and saying that this isn't what happened to kurt, and that the movie portrays kurt cobain badly. i think the fact that the movie isn't based exactly on kurt makes it more enjoyable, it allows the director to have more artistic freedom rather than having to stick to facts.

I am a movie lover as well as a musician- so I thought this film would be epic. Not gonna lie- I hated it! I felt it was self indulgent and " trying to hard to be artsy" and just like another film by him, "Elephant"- I felt it tried to hard and had the potential to be SO much more :( dissssaaaaapppoiinntteedd :(
