very GY!BE sounding, i love it, really puts me in a epic landscape either during the end of days here, or far from earth on in an unknown place. IZ GUUUD.
@kuhavaankaton Thank you! It's a regular violin bow bought from a music shop. If you want to try you'll also need some rosin for the bow, and some practice - it's takes a while for the strings and bow to temper, and to get used to playing with it.
Not wax, but its called rosin, it helps the string stick, you can buy it at most music stores. it is usually a amber colored solid and you rub the bow on it
Yes it is. You might be interested to know that as the guitar's neck is flat, unlike say a violin's, it's very hard to play the middle strings individually. So I'm mostly playing the high and low E strings, sometimes with the next one in, or chords.
i never played bowed guitar but i want to buy some reverb/delay pedals and bow. if you play that middle strings you should try to do something like palm mute with left hand on both E strings. maybe that will work but as i sad i never played bowed guitar. btw sorry for my english :D
since you are using a strat you could try adjusting the height screws on the bridge to raise the midle strings. sure the high and low action would be weird to play with but if you really wanted to make something awesome of the bow, then its probably the best way to go.
you could raise the height adjustment screws on the middle strings. although the action would be weird to play with it could make the bow playing more effective. just a suggestion.
depending on the one you get, from about 25 up to about 85.for a guitar, theyre gonna reccomend you get a nylon bow but only so it doesnt shred up like a horse-hair one.personally i'd go with the horsehair for the element of visual effect.
Thank you! It's a 3/4 length violin bow with rosin. Takes a while to get the rosin onto the guitar strings and it will screech at first so do persist! I'm using a delay effect in this clip.
Those are certainly the easiest ones to hit reliably. I've been experimenting with using my left hand to mute strings so I can play others in between, which is tricky.
Do you actually ingest psychedelics when you record or so you just use the word as an adjective? I disagree with the critical comments, 'needs more fingering', etc.. but I use the word psychedelic only if it actually describes my diet. Anyway the Eastern sounding overtones are great. 20 minutes of it would not be too much, people need less ADHD and more long spacious things to listen to. Check me out here when you can. Cheers, and thanks, and.. "you have to eat It to bite It" :)
hmm this is strangely good, i like the sound but i think you need to add more fingerwork to it, its way to umm how would you put it, aborignally spaced out, its full digeridoo soundin.. but otherwise good work!
Protip: Violin bows are pretty much never used with guitars as they break with to much ease, this is a cello bow, same as the one Jimmy Page used, etc.
it reminds me alot of the sound of an igil, and some music from tuva... check out two reeds in the wind by a single thread here on youtube

is it true that the rosin makes the strings sticky and or it messes up the pickps?
myoozzick 1 year ago
It does make the strings sticky. This provides friction for the bow, it will slide over them without making a sound otherwise.
I haven't got any rosin on the pickups and don't know what effect it would have. It's not been a problem for me.
ogzz00 1 year ago
ok cool, thanks. Great playing by the way. I'm just trying to figure out more about playing with a bow before i try it on my telecaster

The guy's playing a Jazzmaster/Jaguar, it has a bridge similiar to tune-o-matic, so I think he can't change his middle strings height that easily

Yes I am playing a Jaguar, how could you tell?
