This is my favorite AMV. Good song, one of my favorite anime (though really, I haven't seen much anime. Or much of NGE, for that manner). In this AMV's case, less is definitely more. It's hard to make a good AMV of "Hurt" with a video of robot battles and a bunch of Heroic Sacrifices every now and again, that's more Pendulum's thing.
I nearly cried at the second "my empire of dirt", where Shinji kicks his sand castle... Very powerful moment there. This AMV has great timing, and I agree with the person who said this doesn't need any more effects.

Very plain, needs little more SFX. Also, I suggest with a song like this, make the screen a little darker in slow parts of the song and shiny in the higher parts. 4/5, learn more about Sony Vegas and you could do great.
@EEEdoman well, to be honest, this was more of an experiment about editing. Ive seen AMVs with effects that were very, very well done, but that just isnt my style. Although the lightness/darkness contrast suggestion is pretty good, never thought about that. I think the only "effect" I used was where you see the Misato cross transition at 3:36

i think it's better that it's simple, it's a simple song. i think too many effects would make it look shitty like a lot of other AMVs that go overboard with the effects. i actually think the editting and choice of scenes to use works real well, good job davidseth.

Evangelion is a bit too complex to label him as an antagonist or protagonist. It would lean more so towards antagonist, but they are friends and enemies.
This series is the best anime I have watched in my entire life. I would recommend this anime over all others.
There is the original series, death and rebirth (it was like a look back through, not that good.) End of evangelion which tied up the series. Then there is Rebuild of evangelion (the story is altered a bit and it was graphically improved.)
Last but not least they are making a high budge live action film. There budget is bigger than matrix, so it should be good.I hope

I've always hated it when people consider Shinji "emo". Can't people grasp the situation he was in? Dead mother, absent father, the world was in chaos, and now giant unknown beings were attacking. Who wouldn't be a little depressed and "emo" during these times? Especially a teenager. I remember watching this show when I was 17 and I really connected with Shinji. Such a flawed human, just like the rest of us. I guess most people watch anime for escapism, not reality.

@Sabersonicdude Well, I watched your Eva Hurt amv, and I gotta say I liked the direction you went with it. A lot of amv's usually tend to be random scenes from a movie/series set to the music. But you chose a great theme and stuck with it. The only problem with doing an amv with Gendo and Shinji is the fact that most of the time you see Gendo, hes either just staring blankly or talking (while staring blankly). That kind of sucks, because its such a great idea.

yeah i really enjoyed the Rebuild movie, sadly its very dark. I mean that literally. Its hard to watch some of the scenes without turning up the brightness on the monitor way up (and of course some of the clips i used had to be from the poorly lit scenes).
