China is now the second largest economy, which still makes it's economy five times smaller than the United Staes. It's overall economic growth belies how far it has to go, and the tremendous underlying poverty there. Japan does have a standard of living equal to the predominant white nations, but it is an anomoly not the norm.

Protests are good. BUt only if conducted civilly and w/o violence. I pray, that no thugs get placed amongst the protesters to provoke the armed security forces to shoot at the crowd. There's always that possibility. Who knows, perhaps a good, democratic, govt. that respects the rights&property of all ppl. while seeking the best interest for Egypt will emerge as a result of these demonstrations. I just hope ppl. dont lose their lives for nothing. God, bless all Egyptians.
