Thanks so very much for this clip. I was a young kid when I saw this movie and used to sing this song at every school function. Today While listening to it I was a kid again !
Wow! It was like time-travel for me. I had only heard about MS starring in this film. But with the posting of this video I have been able to watch her acting and singing. She looks as beautiful as she sounds. I have also been meaning to learn this song. Thank you for this video. Now I can know the raagam in which to sing it. Good luck!
@vidursury well, initially I'd imagined it to be set to Yamuna Kalyani, but then later I realised that it is Kuranji, because by the time one has heard the song completely, one realises its compelling resemblance to Saint Annamacharya's famous keertana: Muddugare Yashoda. I'm a mere novice and so I'm afraid can't possibly elaborate on the technicalities such as the basic notes of the raagam, though. Good luck to you, too, Sir.
@sreevatsakota Thank you Sir. I learn Hindustani and haven't come across this Rag yet....I don't have knowledge about Carnatic Raga names and so asked you for help. Thanks again!
This is a fantastic song by MS. The sheer joy with which she sings this song by Sadashiva Brahmendra in Kuranji Raga is truly heart warming. I am hearing this original song in Savithri after almost 65 years! I am seeing this video for the first time and seeing MS as a 25 year old girl. I did not see the movie Savithri. Thank you for posting this video.
@kamkris Thanks for the appreciation Sir, my pleasure. I learn Hindustani and do not know Carnatic names for Ragas. Therefore please try to recognize the Ragas of some other songs of the film which I've uploaded if you could, I would be very grateful.
@samaganam You are absolutely right. Those were truly golden days in the film world. None but M. S. could handle such a role so well, thanks for appreciating.
Vidursury thanks for the wonderful video - MS is always an inspiration to listen/watch. Looks like you videotaped this playing on your computer. You can use the freely available DVD Shrink program to extract just this song into a separate file for upload. Hope this helps.

@rgmwy@rgmwy@rgmwy Thanks a lot for the information, nice of you to help. Actually, I had found a good DVD ripper and have ripped all songs. Was a bit worried about copyright after this, so uploaded for Anmolfankaar's channel (username: anmolfankaarsite) 2 Shanta Apte Ji (singing star and heroine) classics there and will upload the balance as well there. However, have uploaded some of the film's audios - please check them out. I love the music of the film.
