considering that the technology we have today didn't really exist back when this movie was made i have to say i find that beast well presented. it's better than any cgi beast i've seen.
@Makrishtina. The reason for her telling him to get out of her room was because for one thing she wasn't use to his presence and 2, in those times it was very improper for a man to be in a Woman's room, especially when it was at night, and the woman was in her night gown.
Belle, what is wrong with you?! When a guy says he wanted to give you a gift, and random jewelry falls into his hand, you don't tell him to get out!!!!! Why was she angry? And why was he smoking? I never understand those parts of the film. Was it improper for him to be in that bedroom? Like an invasion of privacy? And was he smoking because of something to do with Belle?
The smoking of the Beast's hands is because he killed a deer. Whenever the Beast kills, his hands will smoke and he will be ashamed when a maiden is staying at his castle. Check out the beginning of part 1 for a recap of that.
I like how everything is so carefully done and refined. They could not correct things with computers and special effects at the time, so they had to take special care of getting everything right the first time around.
one of the best movies I've ever watched in French class. It took me a bit of time to adjust to the fact that instead of a candle and a clock, there's dismembered body parts all over the castle. An arm here, a torso there and others lmoa
@morchie717 - I was thinking the same thing. I'm totally into old black & white movies & I'm in love w/ how they used to do their eyebrows & make-up. The thin arched eyebrows of Jean Harlow or Claudette Colbert in "Cleopatra" were beyond gorgeous & just to die for. Women of that era were beautiful (face & body) even w/o make-up & nothing like the ugly plastic filled men & women of today. 8:08 pm Sept. 5 2010
The part where she lets him drink from her hands is so touching. =') And that look in his eyes when he says, "It doesn't repulse you to let me drink from your hands?"...how could you possibly NOT fall in love with La Bête just then?
Ahaha! Beast drinking water is, probably unintentionally, hilarious. I heard the sound and I thought, "No, he wouldn't..." But then, there he was! *snort*
For one of the parts, it became un-compressed/strange when I chose the HD version....but they don't all have that option. Is there any way to upload the file with it? I would really love to watch the rest of this movie, it's so wonderful!
Well, she said in French, "It pleases me," which doesn't sound quite so contrite. And, to be fair, there's not a lot of other ways she could have nicely answered the question.

The beast thinks, he is great; I am fond of the beast, yes I say to my father I sort of, kind of like him. Well, you see, he is not bad.
