I wish you could talk to my teachers! I heard you're not supposed to have more than ten minutes of homework per grade level. For me , 70 mins at the MAX. Yet, last night I stayed up to 10:00 doing homework ( school gets out at 3:00)

Homework is generally a waste of time. If I have a great teacher that teaches everything well I remember everything in class even more than if I were to learn it with only homework. So, for homework I just put random answers or just do it as fast as I can, so my time isn't wasted, and I still get great grades on tests. One time I had a Biology test and I Aced it while most other students failed, and I never even studied for it. I just had a great teacher that taught very well.

I love good homework and I LOVE YOU WILSON TECH ONE! But I really hate it when math teachers in particular throw a math problem at you that is more than what you covered. On purpose to "challenge you". Its stupid just give us homework on what we learned and let us do it. Hard problems are even fine but like one that is so complicated that you have to go out of your way just to understand it is wrong and teachers you need to smile more quit being a downer to your students.
@strontface2 Well there are some people out there no doubt and if it was in my free time hell yeah challenge me but I am much more of a law, history, english.word play and literature type of person. So when it comes to math I like to learn about it but I don't like to have to do something for a grade that I could potentially get completely wrong or not understand period. You ain't never lied! lol Some of the problem is you only get 45 minutes a class. At least when I was in school it was 45 minutes per class. YES teachers do get in the habbit of giving work they never covered for homework. Shame on them.

HomeWork is all well and good but young kids who forget / can't complete it stress out about it waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than I do about anything now (Including debts and money.. The lack of :P

The homework being really pointless maths problems that doesn't tell the teacher anything as if the kid doesn't understand it most parents "Help" and do it for them. The kids no better off!
I had one teacher in 10th who had a policy of the homework was to reinforce the material . So if you got 100% on the test the homework for the section was 0% of your grade any thing less than 100% it was 20%. This teacher also thought 4 honors classes and despite the fact that his pass rate for the standardized AP to collage credit was highest of the school he was constantly under threat of being caned because he would not over burden is students with hours of homework.
The real problem is like you say if it is just busy work some kids figure out they don't need to do it to pass the class. I pissed a lot of my teachers off because my approach to 4th - 12th was read the text book over the first few weeks so I knew what I did not understand do the assignments on those topics to attain mastery and as a result I got 95-100% on all test and quiz. While largely ignoring almost all the homework, and spending most of in class busy work tutoring my peers....
I don't believe in homework. I think there should be a certain amount of work that needs to be completed by the end of the day..if you don't do it all, then you must complete that for homework, NOT giving a new task.
the irony of watching this, I'm writing my study notes for Biology to study for my HSC tests which will give me a number that will let me (hopefully) get into college and university

I agree. additionally, I think that homework is something that most kids should have but its NOT for everyone. In the same way that test taking is not for everyone.
I agree whole heartedly. My language arts teacher keeps comparing my class to the other classes because we are so behind. It's not our fault that it takes us a little longer to understand the material. It's not our fault that first period has 'proficient' kids and we have some, shall we say, 'slower' kids. Just because we don't do have as much time after the lesson to do our classwork, does NOT make it okay for you to give it to us as homework.
in my school we have open campus when ur a junior or senior so since i have 7+8 free i can leave early. but today i stayed and did an assignment (sorta) where i redesigned a lighting scheme for our concert hall for a show choir concert. it took me about a hour and a half but i got it done and did a complete sound check with all sound in concert hall all sound running to our theater (we have a big concert hall and a small theater) and to a cable truck (for television). set it all up and its sweet

awesome vid and excellent point! just goes to show U.S. schools have gone down the toilet these days. I remember the format you talked about, it wasn't broke and didn't need fixing. but they did that anyway and it messed things up.

It require her 2 hours intense non stop for the average homework we get ...personaly it take me like 3-4 hours for my whole homework to be done... and i finish my class at 4:00 so that give me..no time to do anything else then going to school and sleep so fuck you

@QCBEC homwwork is suppose to take 2-6 hours atleast. I go to some Private School but i procrastinate :) and on the computer and guitar xD

My teacher read the book We All Fall Down (out loud) to us, she started it in September and she is only finishing it now! I barely remember the story line anymore!!!

I agree. additionally, I think that homework is something that most kids should have but its NOT for everyone. In the same way that test taking is not for everyone.

I agree whole heartedly. My language arts teacher keeps comparing my class to the other classes because we are so behind. It's not our fault that it takes us a little longer to understand the material. It's not our fault that first period has 'proficient' kids and we have some, shall we say, 'slower' kids. Just because we don't do have as much time after the lesson to do our classwork, does NOT make it okay for you to give it to us as homework.

in my school we have open campus when ur a junior or senior so since i have 7+8 free i can leave early. but today i stayed and did an assignment (sorta) where i redesigned a lighting scheme for our concert hall for a show choir concert. it took me about a hour and a half but i got it done and did a complete sound check with all sound in concert hall all sound running to our theater (we have a big concert hall and a small theater) and to a cable truck (for television). set it all up and its sweet
