  • its a cherrabin

  • @dunchue Cherrabin? Cherropin, Prawn, Krafta you can name according to your country or region even, cause even a whale is not a whale in other countries. But here in south texas it is a Prawn

  • looks like a kräfta

  • This was filmed with a Prawn.

  • @psycobillysutter If you're referring to the quality, I tried uploading the HD video i had of the prawn there but it kept failing then i selected an option that changed the resolution and the result is what you see! I didn't like it myself because the HD is great compared to this but that is youtube when it won't cooperate.

  • @Metakrom The format of the video might of been "oddballed". Just for future reference, I like run my videos through a video editing program like Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas 9 which can re-format the video into a more reliable file that YouTube can work with.

  • @psycobillysutter sweet! Thanks for the tip i was actually wondering what would be a good fix but now I know thanks to you! Thank you psycobillysutter you're a good sport!

  • eat it !!!,

  • macrobrachium carcinus /bigclaw river shrimp :D i keep a few as pets but there great eating as well

  • chey i got ever caught a bigger prawn than this

  • If anything, that's a sweet delicious crustacean that I would not be sharing with anyone.

  • looks like an ass wipper

  • That's not a South Texas Giant Long Claw River Prawn. It's a Giant Freshwater River Prawn.

Macrobrachium rosenbergii is it's scientific name.

  • @ElectricShark I found it in South Texas and I've looked up the name which had "Giant Long Claw River Prawn" in it so that is what it is to me! You are wrong with resenbergii because all the searches i've done for rosenbergii don't even come close to looking like the one i caught! Their claws are too thin! Now Macrobrachium Carcinus results are more accurate, so much for trying to correct me Mr. know it all!

  • @Metakrom,

    Whoa.

That was a comment I made 3 years ago.

I didn't even remember making this comment.

Sorry if I upset you at all.

It's funny because I don't even remember watching this vid.

We don't have these kinds of prawns where I live.

  • @ElectricShark lol I just noticed it yesterday and thought you were being a wisecrack but I see what you're saying and i accept your apology! Cheers!

  • @Metakrom,

Yeah it's funny because I didn't even remember seeing the vid.

But now that I see it, it is a Macrobrachium Carcinus.

They are found all over the coast of Texas.

I live in Mass where I have never been lucky to see a Macrobrachium Carcinus on our shores.

Would love to tho if I had a chance.

In the meantime, I'll just keep watching the seals and jellyfish that permeate my shores.

  • we call them cherropin in northern australia

  • Wow interesting name. Hello mate! A marine biologist told me it's scientific name is Macrobrachium carcinus(go figure) and I've noticed there are many like species all over the world. Thanks for sharing your info on this interesting creature Dave!
