this was an interesting discussion, however it contained many distortions regarding the teachings and efforts of christian churches. The speaker incorrectly refers to the 'christian church; as if there is some monolithic organization, The Reformed church placed authority in the scriptures; the church of Rome is posited on the authority of the institution. Protestant Christians have deeply entrenched and held doctrine of redemption and salvation based on the revelations of Jesus and the Bible

I dispute UR contention that protestant churches are not principally concerned w/extending the gospel of grace & redemption to non-believers. Christians understand that Jesus revealed a person must be born-again to see the Kingdom&we certainly proclaim John316 to all. Homosexual sin is by no means an obsession.But this issue is a concern when the clear exhortation & principals of scriptures are discarded to justify it.It is sinful not irrevocably but is a work of the flesh like adultery , etc

the biggest problem with chad's argument is that it's based on the theory of sexual deconstructionism, i.e. that sexuality is not a instinctual drive, but rather a composite more fundamental needs and if you can fulfill these more fundamental needs, then you can "un-gay" the gays.

I suggest you watch "Prayers for Bobby." It's about this young gay man who is completely demonized and rejected by his mother because of his sexual orientation (all in the name of religion mind you). I think it is very interesting how some people pick and choose which parts of the bible they will use to preach intolerance.
