"Angels of Light" in the Bible are not a good thing. They are fallen angels/demons. Maybe it's not a good idea to entertain this band as being god-like.
@ andinoble: you nailed it, his music just becomes more complete, intense, more "GIRA" - more of that indefinable something that hooked me on Swans way back when.
His fans are lucky that he can actually stay interesting/interested enough in the process to work at his craft and get better w/ age.
This quickly became my favourite Angels song. We´ve discussed what it is about-from Syphilis cures to mad smoking hallucinations - it has such beautiful/horrible imagery.Powerful. Michael Gira just gets better lyrically with age.
Thanks for posting.. I dunno: too much cymbal and the chord progressions doesn't work for me. Gira himself even seems a little disembodied from the flow of the song - something that never happened with the Swans... Btw, re: the mentions of Primus and Britney and Mellencamp below - I'm just amazed people even found their way to this clip. I'd just say to them: "thanks for visiting, maybe we'll see U again in 10 years, buying your first Swans CD".

I love how music is an expression of human emotion that's inside everyone.
when a person doesn't like a song it's because they don't like/ don't want to address that part of their own psyche.

I would personally fear the implications of this psychiatry in regards to hardcore gangster rap, but its an interesting theory nonetheless.

Reminds me of Jandek. Completely untraditional song structures with garbled, almost folky vocals. Definitely more angry though. Anyone else?

I think he's supposed to be disembodied. Soul extraction is an out of body experience, is it not?

I saw this tour in Denver...changed my life. This is a great video impression, but it was so powerful live.

This sounds a lot like "Rosary" from Scott Walker. Coming to think about it Gira in this video even looks like him.

I thought they were much better as Primus.

nothing like seeing Gira going into a trance, far beyond the cop and holy money days of swans, now that was a whole different story.

If you don't appreciate art then screw off. You need to click back from where you came, to the Britney Spears video.
