does any one know if she lip synched to this or if she actually sung it live because of the orchestra and being in a theatre? i know they mostly they lip synched but because of the environment i was wondering.
she had such a lovely voice. i listened to other versions of this and her voice is still the prettiest. there's something about her vibrato that the other singers do not have. i cannot describe it.
@musicloveBH Hope others may know, but as the poster, I can't say one way or another. I wish I could. I think the process was then called 'looping!" All things considered, I think you've nailed this piece. Her voice was absolutely beautiful, and I think she had the ability to make everyone a believer in her; regardless of the song she sang. Her voice always made the song come to life! Thanks for your comment, and if others out there have further information, please comment! Feliz Navidad!
@musicloveBH I think this is from the 1953 movie, so this is love. That's because there was this lady in the audience that looked like the opera singer form there!
Kathryn Grayson showed us her wonderfully talented voice range in So This is Love. She was made for the part of Grace Moore.Thank you for this really enjoyable version from a very special performer!
Thanks so much for leaving me a message about this. As you assessed, I'm a HUGE Kathryn Grayson fan.... ever since I was a kid! This is absolutely magnificent!
Kathryn definitely could have had an operatic career, but when I see somehting like this - I am so grateful that her talents were forever preserved in films! A great video!!
@norcross124 Thanks so much! Here's hoping this won't be "removed!" Ms. G really shows her prowess during this number; her talent and beauty were really remarkable!
@TheReturnOfStephan1 I've seen it 2x. The 1st was in San Francsico, and the 2nd was the really wild "Baz Luhrmann" version of "LB" at the Broadway Theater in New York. It was unique, beautifully produced and was nominated for 6 or 7 Tony Awards. Quite a show! Thank you for your comment!
@arpeggio1358 You're so kind to comment, and thank you very much! Ms. G is, was, and always will be one of the finest performers of this, or any era! I'm so grateful that she graced us with her presence as long as she did!
@easyoldbear In an earlier post I'd responded that I'd seen it twice. Here, in SFO, the first time was lovely, but forgettable. The New York version however was a wildly, beautiful production, both musically and artistically. The staging, typical of Mr. Luhrmann, was a revelation! Thanks so much for your comment!
Saw most of Grayson's movies! She was incredible! Never knew till recently (Wikipedia) that she actually did live out her dream to be an opera star.
