That's mad compared to my 50min chargers with the imax 5amp shit. You have inspired me. Love the box setup so I bought one from Bunnings $65, not bad, but won't be going psyco with power setup. Just went with the icharger 206b and p350 power suppy. If I get a second charger do I have to set I up in series or parellel? You should be a film director, good job!!!!!!!!!! Darren
Since making this video I have installed a 3000W 28V Meanwell power supply - along with two Cellpro Power Lab 8 chargers. I can now successfully charge a battery in 3.5 minutes, with a 4 minute balance time (total 7:30). This was a 6S TP5000 65C pack at 40 amps. A firmware update is coming soon, and it will allow charging at 50 amps. So stay tuned for a new better charging station video people. Cheers! Luke
Nice work, 24 volts is a safe bet, along with the mid expensive, very usable ichargers, I love my 3010. Just wondering, are you not parallell charging mate?
@applyapology Cheers, I am not parallel charging because I prefer each pack to be individually balanced. I do however have the boards required should I ever need to do it. 3010 is a great charger indeed. I can't wait until there is a charger out there that can pump out 60 amps at 6S voltage!
when you gonna email me the rest of the pics i wanted to see? I want to see the pics from where you plug in the power cord in the switch to where it connects to the power supply
@hpibajajumper My apologies mate I've been super busy and am now back working offshore for a few weeks - so I can't send pictures right now. I am happy to draw a diagram if that will is acceptable? cheers
Hey Luke, awesome build mate. I might be in touch in the coming months for your expertise in this build as I would like to set one up identical to what you have.
Holy hectopascals batman! When you turned that power supply on and started to charge the street lights in South Morang flickered and went dim lol. Great work Luke, it nice when your designs leave the conception stage and come to fruition. So when does my one arrive? Just joking, peace out.
@farnell74 Thanks mate, the entire setup is around $1000 not including field generator :). Paid itself off already for the ammount of flying I can do in one day! cheers
@pcmcg Yes you can do this, but even in parallel they are still at 12V which isn't sufficient voltage for high power charging (at 12V power output is restricted to 500W). I have also seen some people using PC power supplies without an earth, which is potentially very dangerous. I chose the safe route. The power supply retails for around $600AUD. Cheers mate :)
@cruddbucket Yes, there are safety concerns. But you can get two 1200W supplies, put them in series and you'll get a 2400W, 24V output for under $100.
@pcmcg Anyone who wants to do this, can - but again, safety. Imagine if you were at the field charging and someone was electrocuted by it. I don't want that on my mind! Cheers :)
Nice setup, could you possible send me how you wired the chargers to the power supply, it seems to work very well and with having a Trex 600/500/450 pro/250, this will come in handy. Thanks for another great video.
dude .. GET A MIC ... lol ... 30 days left til i head home ... having another helicoptr from airstar being built... an electric... takes 2 battries .. gonna be sweet .... lol
if it isnt to much can you send me some pics of how you have the chargers wired into the powersupply. i want to do something like this for my boats and heli's too but i cant figure out how to wire in chargers at all since they dont have bullet connectors on them. unless i have to put bullet connectors on them my self. any help would greatly be appreciated. thanks in advance
why not take a look at pelican cases. they are a little expensive but they are so worth it. i have a case that was built to hold both of my align trex 700 electrics plus the transmitters and batteries but the thing is just so dam big.
Leave that case unit exposed to view in the back of your car in Melbourne and you would have the bomb squad surround your car and the city evacuated for sure. LOL ............. :-)
Goblin build! Awesome!!! I can’t wait to see that!
A little suggestion about your charging station: Maybe it will be a good idea to take out from the foam the batteries that you are charging to allow them to cool a little better and maybe stick them on the lead of your box with Velcro. Also you have a lot of flammable materials there so please be careful. Like always I love your videos! Good work! Regards!
@qntt2002 Thank you - good points about safety. Normally I charge in LiPo sacks but for the purpose of the video I chose not to use it this time. Cheers :)
oh sorry to bother you because of my noobness :D. I'm now having two packs of Volts and another two packs of Pulse, and they are all 45C discharge rate. Again thank you very much!
@n7x8n Thanks mate, glad you like. I do intend on doing a Logo Xxtreme video. But I will be doing the Goblin first, as I have ordered one and it is coming end of this month. Good times ahead! :)
@cruddbucket Awesome looking forward to that build, looks like 1 awesome machine.!! What heli would you recommend for my first time build.? was thinking maybe the mini protos,or logo 400se.? Spent enough time on a sim, time for the real thing.!! :)
@n7x8n I am also looking forward to it! I can't sleep some nights :P. The two helis that you mention are very very good high quality efficient machines. I have flown both, and personally I prefer the mini-protos. It really is an incredible helicopter with regards to efficiency and handling. I wouldn't hesitate to go that route! cheers
@BaoThyForever1991 Ok, but don't confuse the discharge rate with the charge rate! 45C is the max discharge rate. What make is the battery? I can look it up for you if you like.
By the way I have a question about charging my Li Po :D. For instance, if mine is rated 2200 then can I charge it at a rate of something like 3000 or 3500 for faster charging time, or I have to charge it exactly at 1C which is 2.2A. Thank you!
@BaoThyForever1991 Hey dude, the mx charge rate is typically stated on the pack and should say either 1C, 2C, or 3C (goes all the way up to 12 depending on brand). "C" refers to capacity. If it doesn't say on the pack, try google'ing it and see if you can find anything. If not - you shouldn't exceed 1C for safety reasons. What brand is it? cheers
I like the washing machine, the refrigerator, and the chips ideas of yours which were very funny. It must have cost... you let's say almost a grant? for the whole system? Overall it looked and worked great in reducing much much of the charging time and get you right back in the air again. Great job!
This is insane(ly awesome)
