How did you think that this was a gas engine! Plus we Americans don't really care about the cleaner gas. I bought the 4.7 the other day, red fully loaded. Very nice vehicle.

jeep gets alot of their engines from mercedes benz, as both companies are owned by daimler-chrysler therefore being a much cheaper option than jeep making thier own engine.
Jeep and every other chrysler product since late 2007 is no longer part of daimler. that name is now daimler-benz again. it is a mercedes engine in it and probably will be for a few more years, but the chrysler line is no longer under the daimler name.

I don't always like diesels because they sound like tractors. The gasoline engines sounds best in my opinion.

that is not a diseal engin dumbasses.. my pops got two.. the 4.7 liter andd the 5.7 hemi liter.. they are both gas.

Umm... look at the engine cover, "3.0 CRD", that's a diesel.
Diesel's aren't "better" then gas engines, (both have their place), but in a lot of applications they ARE a better choice.
Too bad our idiot government makes it so hard to get them here.
