  • Fuck, just amazing.

  • Only years from now will people realize the message Bowie had in his music and videos.... when they see what has become of the American Empire.

  • I know Bowie has a so-so reputation for everything he's done after 1980, but, really, this song and its video are too refreshingly modern for 1993.

  • Was this a premotional acid video from skylark?

  • how dare you call bowiee a mothersucker

  • @ 3.28 i know where i would of put my hands if i was there. hehe.

  • i find it interesting he whips his mouth, at 2.34, its very symbolitic to "Boys keep swinging" video..I read where he dated Transgendered, Romy Haag, She had a Night club in Berlin and would End her Set, by yanking off her wig, and smearing her lipstick in this symbolic gesture , It is noteworthy !.

  • Evidenty, David Bowie has some sense of what it is like to work for IBM. I did, for 5 years. It is very much that way.

  • You've got to believe somebody

  • They say: watch "La Jetee" an amazing film, and a massive influence on this great video...

  • @Stereolabdream

"La jetée" has inspired "12 monkeys". ;-)

  • Great Song; it seem like it was based on his half brother Terry who killed himself.

  • @manhattandan2007 It's funny I know thats what the songs about, but it has its own meaning. that society and bosses tell you to jump when they say, and you have no choice but to jump.

  • For Him who jumped.

as all the doors were open

I lived the dream where dreams are made of

to fight for you to become immortal

a shining star that cannot fall

  • So he was influenced by La Jetee for his music video? :-D Sweet!

  • I haven't heard this in a million years! Thanks for posting it.

  • Iv'e gotta believe somebody.

  • a masterpiece

  • Great latter period Bowie song

  • He is THE ONLY celebrity I find attractive.

  • whadda bout james dean? :)

  • me too :)

  • Most of my freinds use this song as a (literal) JUMP! when the music plays~great jam to dance too! Clean the house too~

  • if this ever really did happen i'd burst to tears

  • i love David Bowie :DD he mii ; hero, fashion icon, and mii idol xP

  • bowie is awesome, no one will ever better him, what a talent...

  • this guy realy has personallity...!!!!

  • David Bowie...Say no more!

This is my favorite from his expansive track list, followed by Modern Love, then Life on Mars, then Man Who Sold The World, then Queen Bitch.

Then again, most of his songs are in ALL of my I-POD playlists...simply because of his PERFECT mix of DEEP LYRICAL content with a blend MUSICAL CONTENT that always ENSURED radio play for songs that CHALLENGED the accepted "norm" of the CHRISTIAN RIGHT WING!

    Seriously...

He disguised "anti-Society" into "pop music!"

  • Great song...this vid/song can be applied in so many ways to today...(interpret as you will)

I ask you..who is the "They"??

    think about it..

  • @loewe7, looks like Linda Evangelista to me, I could be wrong though. Great song btw.

His cover of Scott Walker's Nite Flights on this same album (Black Tie, White Noise) is the highlight for me though.

After this album he would release Outside, Earthling, Heathen, and Reality. Bowie's still got massive cred.

  • oh my gosh!

I love love love loooove him so much!!

  • Absolutely legendary.

  • David Bowie is not one of my favourites, but I do remember this song I heard almost 15 years ago when I was in school! I knew there was something 'wicked' about this track, now reading through wikipedia I know. Awesome track and video!!!

  • very lovely (3:08) model with a white cap on her head! does annyone know how she is?

  • david bowie is forever! great track!

  • very far ahead of his time.

  • he was ahead of his time when was this released?

  • u r so right... :)

remember when this first came out..

    wicked track...

    b.

  • I dont know for sure but i think David wrote this about his suicidal brother Terrence! :(

  • I dunno. Could be. Terry was more than suicidal though. He was schizophrenic and jumped in front of a train. The entirety of The Man Who Sold The World is for him

  • schizophrenic...voices..."they" say jump ?

  • Genial

  • He changed rock'n'roll forever.

    Made it clever and elegant.

  • Oh i dnt like it when he looks all bashed up or hurt or upset! it hurts my feelings! :(

    I LOVE DAVID BOWIE!!!!!

  • David looks great in a suit

  • tohle nemá chybu,škoda že to rádia nehrají...

  • This song has been rolling through my head for days. Bowie is a legend.

  • SEEEEEEEEX on LEEEEEEEEEEEEEGs

  • great song! one of my fav Bowie songs! he wrote the song about his brother who was schizophrenic and committed suicide

  • la jetee <3

  • This man will be cooler as an OAP than almost everyone else in their prime.

  • That's' it...

DAVID BOWIE IS OFFICIALLY THE COOLEST MAN EVER.

  • @spiddia Don't forget the sexiest too!

  • LA JETEE! :)

  • wat sthis song about?

  • Very symbolic, David finally took out his fears the best way he knows how; with music. The song is about his schizophrenic half-brother Terry, who commited suicide. David was scared of being mentally unstable for a really long time, cuz there's a history of that in his family. It's so sad...

  • Forever Bowie!!!! The greatest English musician! And if it wasn't Bowie - Iggy Pop would never become so big...

  • very estetic !

  • Pura poesía visual

  • my favourite bowie song god hes handsome this was his best era 1983 to 1990 ish i love the man god i would love to meet him my god forever wow long live bowiexxxx

  • You think 1983 to 1990 was his best era??? It is generally considered his worst, and I can't say I disagree. However, this song is also one of my favourites, but it is from 1993 and was a very strong comeback for Bowie as a solo artist after the disappointing 80s.

  • i agree but i really really like his older stuff more like life on mars, changes, ashes to ashes and space oddity

    but thats just my oppinion

  • Well, those are absolute classics. Among the best songs in pop music, and I do love them. However, I have listened to them so many times that when I listen to Bowie nowadays it is more often more recent stuff like this.

  • indeed he has change alot,so it just depends on what type if music you like.

  • oh wait sorry, when i posted the qluwsa comment i didnt know it was that account thats my other one sorry...

    im qluwsa

  • Well, wait. !983 was "Let's Dance"; a departure, yes, but also an accessable classic. 84-5 gave us "Blue Jean" and "Loving the Alien". Nice tunes. 86 gave us "Labyrinth". Ever heard the music from that? Haunting and fun.And I'm a massive fan of 87's Glass Spider album & tour: he never looked or sounded better in concert. 89-91 produced Tin Machine, a vehicle in which Bowie rediscovered his creativity and passion for originality. So yeah, I'd say he was pretty darned strong during the 80's.

  • I'd agree that Let's Dance by almost anybody else's standard would be a classic. For Bowie (especially following the extremely strong classic Scary Monsters) I felt it was a big disappointment. Tonight I thought was dreadful when it was release, but it has improved a lot (for me) with time, and I actually prefer it to Let's Dance. NLMD I always hated, I think it is the nadir of his career. Labyrinth is OK, but the whole concept of the film turned me off.

  • The first Tin Machine album on the other hand, I think was very, very strong and is probably Bowie's most underrated work to date. TMII is much more uneven I feel. It does however contain some very strong tracks like "Goodbye Mr Ed" which I'd say is one of Bowie's best songs ever. I guess we are not totally in disagreement, but I felt that his output became much more consistenly good with BTWN which I think is a much stronger album than Let's Dance.

  • oh my god i love this man so original a beautiful and charming person my cousin say by him on a plane flight said he was so polite and loverly person

  • ...What a cute little drummer that is.

  • The vid reminds me 2001 Space Odissey

  • Video of Mark Romanek remind some spy/conspiracy novels. Great idea.

  • How is it that even so many years on he still manages to maintain the awesome hair?

And how is he so incredibly amazing?

  • An unspeakably cool video and song.

  • sth dimitra

  • almost 20 years, and this song sounds most fresh than 98% of todays music. AMAZING!!!

  • Still sounds amazingly fresh, and he still looks amazingly cool.

    The bastard.

  • are you jealous ?? ;-)

  • We all are. The man is amazing.

  • Don't forget the wonderful lyrics. Unfortunately I think I pretty understand what this song is about.

  • masterpiece

  • I adore this video and this song.

  • one of the coolest songs ever. just in case you didn't realise it mofo.

  • what is the rumour with the Wittle Man album as bowies hidden songs on youtube, they sound like him, is it true?

  • Excuse my ignorance this is a great tune but it is it true it was for david bowies brother who took his own life?

  • Yes, it appears it is.

  • ..it was actually his half-brother who suffered of schizofrenia..

  • i say this is a great tune,....

  • Bowie's brother had mental problems for a long time.

  • he's such a hottie still

  • ahhh la jetee!

  • TEMAZO.

Great, incredible song, inspired by his brother´s tragic end.

  • Bowie Is So Fucking Cool

  • I loooove this song, the solo with trumpet is so good, i'm not sure but thing it's played for Lester Bowie

  • BY Lester Bowie I think, i that's what you ment.

  • sorry I dont undestand you reply, I speak spanish and know few english, I love this solo of trumpet, I dont what problem you have with my comment ¿?

  • No problem whatsoever, I was only saying that the solo is played by Lester Bowie not "for" Lester Bowie.

  • no question about it! david bowie is one of the coolest singers! two different eye colors

crazy! he got it after a fight!

  • or is it that his pupils are diff sizes..? coz in life on mars its really obvious i didnt realise his eyes are actually like that i thought it was some special effect

  • when still a young boy he had a fight and his eye was irreparably damaged (as a matter of fact the pupil's paralyzed)

  • beautifull song and video!!!!!!

  • AND THE MAN IN IT!!!

    :-)

    Peace out!

  • this song talks about me.

  • Ohhh

Hace años que no veía este video !!!

    xD

  • gud how u can sing about ya bro commitin suicide

  • how can hendrix sing a song bout smokin pot and seeing purple things

  • Art is therapy. It's a well known fact about his brother so it's not like he's capitalizing on revealing it to the world. It's been known a long time and people kept asking him about it. This was his way of clearing the air. Suicides are always harder for those left behind who have to pick up the pieces.

  • i completely agree

  • I agree. And lets remember that a lot of great art comes from suffering.

  • the music becomes rich only at those rare moments when Lester Bowie blows his trumpet

  • Unbelievably, his last UK top ten single hit since 1993. Why, Why, Why!!!??

This song has so much attitude.

    And is Cool.

  • Not to mention altitude ;)

  • Nice one. Love it when we can play around with words, and be original and have such sharp humour!

Thanks, and this a great song and video

  • Agreed, excellent song and video.

  • One of my all-time favourite videos, and I didn't even know this song existed till I saw this video in a Bowie DVD.

  • uy sale cierto episodio de la jette un film que seria la base de doce monos, siempre bowie ha sido admirador de la ciencia ficcion.

  • always been such a huge inspiration for artists expressing themselves in any kind of Art.

  • Reminds me of "Funtime" with Bowie saying FUN!

  • David Bowie! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • was in a club in newcastle and this was given a remix, by the DJ, was fucking awesome

  • I have loved this man for the last 30+ years of my life. He is everything a man & musician should be!

  • Did his brother kill himself?

  • well, suicide is more common than one could suppose

  • Bowie has had a perfect excuse to bow out with either of his last two(legasy swaying)ablums;i say JUMP!

  • This song is amazing, and.. I think Bowie has always had a striking figure but there are no words to do justice to his look in this video.

  • the best song of bowie:}

  • great is great

    ;

    ]

  • Bowie has had some klinkers but not for his last few albums. Go David go!

  • Sorry, 5 years lol

  • Mr Bowie, new album please,it's been 3 years since "Reality" already

  • супер клип и супер песня ))

  • He is untouchable. Bowie you are perfect.

    I say jump Holden !!!

  • Style, class and verve. Been revisting the 'Berlin' trilogy recently, in particular "Heroes". Sublime.

  • Bowie is really on his game here: his voice, his look, his acting, just wow.

  • I love this more each time I see it. Bowie is really good into the character and I love his facial/hand gestures. Great.

  • bowie is god!! love ia man :P love this song.

  • I knew he'd jump. It was all a matter of time and timing. The right bridge and the wind. A push and calm water.

  • WE FUCKING love this song!!

  • This is one of my favourite songs........ I love you David Bowie!!!

  • the world would be empty without david Bowie! He has the most creative videos as well!

  • I'm 13, and the sentence I say the most is just what I am planning to say right now; David Bowie's cool.

  • he look like doug jones :D

  • and like Gordon Freeman ;)

  • Reminds me more of G man.

  • i was thinking the same thing!

  • 3:08-3:09 classy

  • Absolutelety the MOST BEST.

  • I LOVE David Bowie!!! He's an amazing writer and performer! He's got a hypnotizing voice... I could listen to his music all day... He's very hot!

  • 2:25 I do always the same when I see him...

    :)

  • Nice... :)

  • I can understand why... For real!

  • It is amazing, I love The Cure and Bowie.

  • It's from 1993. But whatever he does is really timeless.

  • Bowie is a genious and a very hot one! : )

  • Most incredible

  • a man a head of his time ,this sounds as if it could came out yesterday i remember this from a long time ago ,legend

  • i think bowie is the top...

    here in greece and everywhere

  • He got a lotta respect on Soul Train when he sang "Fame". I think he might've been the first white singer on the show.

  • yea he was the first white guy on soul train.

  • Love it. The song, the video, the album, the Bowie. Love it.

  • Aww, what did they do to poor Bowie???

I love David Bowie and I think this is one of the greatest video's ever. And, of course, by the greatest singer of all time. There will be no one like him!

    I love that man!!

  • I know most Bowie songs, but im not 2 familiar with this, it sounds good.

  • It is from Black Tie White Noise (1993). A terribly underrated album, one of Bowie's finest.

  • I think this song was written in remembrance of his brother Terry who committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in 1985

  • Is that true? It's sad.. Poor Terry, poor David.

  • yea it was his half brother though and he was schizophrenic also. I don't think it's the same one that turned him on to jazz music in the first place but I'm not sure.
