Although she is not very well known today, Helen Gardner is one of the finest actresses of early cinema. I've only seen one other of her films, the 1912 version of "Cleopatra" and she was wonderful. This was five years before Theda Bara's version which is lost.
Fascinating early effort to translate literature to the screen. Helen Gardner is a profoundly important woman in early cinema! I really enjoyed finding this hear...I only wish they could find a live pianist.
