Overlooked composer. What a shame. The book with 7 seals by Schmidt is probably my favorite "Oratorio" from the 20th century.

This is fascinating to follow in the score. Schmidt is almost in Hindemith harmonic territory in passages such as this.
There was no genre or movement type that Schmidt didn't show complete mastery in, but he was an especially brilliant composer of trios. One thinks immediately of the trios of the Third Symphony and the Quintet in A.
