  • Brings back memories of seeing them in Glasgow late 70,s . I think they played in the Amphora in Sauchiehall Street a few times ? Anyone recall these gigs ?

  • Hello people of the Chou, many memories of kelvingrove brought back here. A very underrated and underworshipped band who laid some of the groundwork for my own aural noise. PEACE

  • My cousin Bobby's band. I saw them live. They were Magic!

  • @reebix77 What's he up to now ?

  • everything comes frae an egg

  • Im Eggys son.

  • Moosey!

Eyes like a Hawk, fingers like Doken leaves!

    Does yer Da still fiddle?

  • Yea he does a bit but not as much as he would like to I think.

  • That's a pity as I loved hearing him play.I'm busy trying to resurrect some old tapes of some of his old gigs in and around Paisley with the Chous.Fantastic to hear these again. Last time I met him was on the way into Hampden for a Semi-final,tell I'm askin for him.Robin

  • was eggy from coatbridge.

  • Incidentally, The Yund were Bob, Tony and Robert Purse on drums. Not as heavy a sound but funny as ..... in case folks never got to catch them.

  • I do have some Yund stuff from a gig my band did supporting them (on cassette) but without a Reel to reel tape recorder I can't get at the Chous stuff...even then it might just melt. I'll keep looking though.

  • Brilliant ! Some video of the Chous would be fantastic and some decent live recordings.I did have one recorded at the students union in Paisley which was better than the shitbox of an album from chess..(Greenslade audience frfxsake) but it's long since dematerialised.Any more out there?

  • Hi yes the Chou live on : ) If you do come across and music or pictures we would love to see/hear em!

  • Eggy Beard may be (or maybe already has) paying a visit!

  • Take it away Eggy Beard : )

  • GREAT story UnkilGed !

Same this was the FIRST tune I heard tham play and it KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF!

  • Scotland's answer to Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, perhaps?

  • INDEED Dave!

  • Also, there was a band of Chou followers, possibly short lived called Apartment 6.

Saw them once at Strathclyde Union, they weren't bad, but very similar style to their heroes.

  • Thanks for the info Therussell61

Always nice to come across a fellow fan of the band! Their music lives on now and will never die!

  • Sorry if this ended up in someone's personal emails. I meant to post it as a comment...

blown away fo find Chou on the web at last. Used to go to Davy Jones's Locker at Gourock. Finally got the vinyl version of the live album on ebay. Had the cassette before, which i got after a guy at a record fair promised me the record but didn't deliver. Threatened to sue him but tracked him down to his shop instead.

  • Here! that chap at 0:21 i recognise him. It's me!! Ah wisnae in Chou Pahrot. I wis barely oot of nappies when they were doing the rounds. OK so I still wear nappies just now but that's for different reasons.

I saw them at the imfamous Kelvingrove festival. absolutely magic!

I seem to remember one arsehole trying to throw a shopping trolley at the stage. Dick!

  • Hello Pahrot fans, I was a big fan early days and roadied at a few bigger gigs (Apollo) ,(Paisley Tech) I was from Easterhouse and was friends with Olaf (Big Jim McGeoch) Chuckles, Colin, Raymie, Davie Walker, John Stewart, Kenny,(Is thisLooney Tunes Kenny) and too many others to remember at the minute.. Sorry, I'm Gary, wee jeweller!

Many memories of walking home from The Snug in Airdrie, and the Vicky Carraige,The locker,Amphora, and mainly The Howff where I met most of you wonderful people !

  • Hello Slumdog!

Seems we walked the same dirty streets back then :) Any pictures or recording of the band? I am thinking about a tribute page!

    All thre best!

  • Hi, Just found a photo at the Howff, and I'm sure I have a tape somewhere !

  • Maybe you can convert the tape to MP3 and post it here? Same with the picture, if you e-mail it to me I will include it in any tribute to the guys!

  • Pretty amasing stuff lolz its a shame they don't make music like this anymore

  • INDEED! But their music will never die now!

  • Hello all!

Would be very interested in any pictures/videos/sound clips anyone has of Chou Pahrot. The guys in the band were friends of my dads.

  • Who was your dad? I would like to know cause i was in the Snug in Airdrie, and the Victoran Carriage in Greenock and was very sad to hear that Mama Voot was killed in a bike accident on the Gt Western Rd in Glasgow

  • ritgra I am sure all Chou Pahrot fans would LOVE to hear the recording of the last Chou Pahrot gig! (That may have been the one I talked about above?)

    THANKS for the comment :)

  • THANKS Tom!

  • THANKS PAUL for sending me a coy of Buzgo Tram Chorus!

    You are AMAZING!

    T H A N K S !

  • When I moved to the US the FIRST thing in my bag was their LIVE record, I was also there at the recording.

Last time I saw them was back at Kelvin Grove park I think it was a comeback gig. Anyway they came on stage in Tux suits and were booed off the stage, bottles were flying and for a moment I was ashamed to be from Glasgow.

This of course was during the punk rock era. When a girl beside me got hit on the nut by a bottle we left the park.

We can't let their music and name die!

  • At that moment I knew I would be a Chou Pahrot fan for life. Simply the BEST Scottish band EVER!

I seen them many many times after that, and got the chance to speak to them once or twice. If I remember correctly (RARE) we even had their phone number and called to keep up to date with gigs.

One night in the Burns Howffe (Spelling) they all swapped instuments while playing Buzgo and the music never stopped, on the same night the guitar player did a solo from the Gents toilet!

  • NilocNworb! HOWZITGOAIN!

I would be VERY interested in any recordings you have of Chou Pahrot! (You don't happen to have Buzgo Tram Chorus on MP3 do you?) Please post or send them to me, did I say PLEASE :)

First time I seen them was at the Kelvin Grove Park Radio Clyde gig. As usual they started with Pantomime Shrub. They were off stage when the music started, it was LOUD and FAST! Next thing I know they BLAST onto the stage in OLD MAN rubber masks and wedding dress's............

  • These guys had to be seen to be believed. Saw them all over Central Scotland in the late 70s to early 80s. I have some "home recordings" i might upload...Cottage Theatre Cumbernauld / The Amphora, Sauchiehall St. Anyone interested?

  • VERY :)

  • ME!

  • RITGRA I was in Looney Tunes in those days and supported them twice. They were mates and I may have a few signed copies of the single when I can find them. Also a recording of one of their last gigs @ Kelvingrove Park 1987 on tape. Any interest?
