  • love this!

  • The reason the lyrics are different is cos some of em are lies. It was proven that it does spoil ur aperite

  • The old version is much better than the new one. I still remember all the lyrics too!

  • Damm I feel violated as I thought the 2011 version was a faithful reproduction! I forgot about the frickin bridge - dammi!

  • @BrooksterMax There are many reasons the original is better...

    The bridge

    The donut man

    "smart" ol' blue

and "the sweet you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite"

  • political correctness gone mad. in that case why don't they have done with it and just ban chocolate full stop.

  • Greatest advert ans song EVER. Fact.

  • i guess they cut the fat red car out because these days it would imply that eating other chocolate-based treats makes you obese......... political correctness gone mad! TO THE MARS AD AGENCY - if your going to bring back an advert people remember fondly, then dont mess around with it!!!

  • Wow, just wow, how could I forget this, anyone listening should check out Cadbury's Boost and Wagon Wheels adverts.

  • Gosh takes me back

  • But smart old blue, he took the milky way!

  • it is a cool advert and the tune

  • is the red car the mars bar?

  • omg love it

  • hehe funny.

  • 20 years - scary!

  • just seen it on tv, brought back so many memories.....the original is the best by a mile though

  • The new version is different. This one is the real one. The new one is a sellout.

  • how can I get it as ring tone????

  • Seen this advert the other day on TV and thought that it was new, with it having the contrails or chemtrails, until I found this video saying its "1989"!

Anyone else notice the trails? I like how the plane comes in and sprays the only actual cloud and then its eatten and only the chemtrails are left.

  • The "oh no the bridge is down" sounded like the sweet

  • So I assume Red died?

    That's really callous you cunts.

  • this is back on tv now

  • oh my god I remember this!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like this advert :D its cool.

  • omg is that aimed at children or stoners?

  • ... but they should bring back the original milky way bar... the one with the white middle is crap compared to the original!

  • the whole point of the song and advert is that Miky way doesnt spoil your appetite, if your not goin to mention that then the advert doesnt make sense

  • They've also changed the lyric from 'Smart old blue' to 'Good old blue'. But hey! Who cares. One of my favourites is back :)

  • this ad was back on tv last week

  • I've been a week in London for a holiday en I laughed the crap out of me when I saw this on tv xD

  • Love it! Lyrics have changed in 2009 one. The old one says, 'because he knows it wont spoil his appetite' whereas the new one says 'because he knows its something that tastes just right'. But hey who cares, its back! :)

  • how come the sign at the end is different on the 2009 version?

  • So much better than the 2009 version.

  • i agree! the 2009 version is pants! they should just bring back this version! who's with me?

  • @rimmersgirl81 The old version (the one I remember) was much better and yes it is political correctness that has forced them to change the lyrics as you can't tell the public anymore that chocolate won't spoil your appetite. Stupid country :P

All that aside I am very glad they bought this advert back (or at least half of it)!

  • @rimmersgirl81 I AM!!!!

  • The changed the word 'smart' to 'good' because it implied that fat people are stupid! And they changed the sign 'dinner town' because lots of people don't call it dinner, and they didn't want to look like there was a correct way of calling it.

  • They updated the logo too. Should've changed the colour of the nougat centre though, it used to be darker than it is now, and the advert doesn't reflect this. (The old version of Milky Way is similar to modern Flyte bars)

  • yeah remember the center used to be brown once.

  • I can't believe it's back. I'm not used to seeing good adverts on tv these days. Now if we can just get some more back on tv. *crosses fingers for Accrington Stanley and Norm* lol

  • oh man talk about memories i saw this yesterday night on ITV 2 and then it came on again on Dave i thought i was having some sort of breakdown that i saw an old advert thats 20 years old but still love it and it brung back good memories as a kid.

  • I know!!! I remember singing along to this when I was about 5 - it was on last night on E4 and I nearly whelled up! So retro and forgotten

  • good news guys it's back on our screens

after 20 years and digitaly remastered

with a few changes but the lyrics remains the same and on channels like comedy central uk.

    frankie smales

    (fretro tv advert fan)

  • wow i just saw the new advert i used to love this as a kid lol

  • They have changed the words on the more recent advert to " but GOOD old blue he took the milky way" The original is "SMART old blue" Why they done this??? Cracking Advert anyway.

  • probably its down to political correctness and stuff like that which has gone a bit too far in my own opinion.

  • Wow that advert was out when I was only a baby. They've brought this advert back because I just saw it on ITV1. After 18 long years they've brought this advert back and the Milky Bar advert too staring the milky bar kid. I love Milky ways they are so yummy I used to have one all the time as a snack at breaktimes at my school. I still love Milky Ways, Milkyway magic stars and Milky bars but my faovurite ever chocolate is cadburys flake so tasty. Milkyway chocolate is so tasty. I want one now xxx.

  • THEY DONT MAKE ADVERTS LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!!

As soon as i saw this my childhood came flashing back!!!!! xxxxxx

  • brings back memroys this one already stuck, Is it back on TV?

  • Yeah amazing innit? I just saw it tonight. Immediate flash back to 1st year at high school!

  • Yeah I just have memorys of saturdays mornings in the summers of the late 80s and early 90s now, Ads were much better then and got to to the point lol.

  • This reminds me of how cool CITV used to be when it was a section of ITV's weekday shedule... rather than being its own channel!

    Jeez... I'm now officially old!

  • Just seen this advert for the first time since I was 5ish :)

  • omg, i've been singing this advert for years and no one knew what i meant! eat my milkyway! guys! lol

  • WOW! I just saw that there on TV then checked this to find out the year it was aired, its been out of my head since I last saw it, until about 4 minutes ago!

  • Justr seen on tv too!! Why did they change the lyrics from "smart old blue he took the milky way" to "GOOD old blue he took the milky way"???? Probably political incorrectness showing its face again!!!

  • Totally mate, I am outraged. I would love to know how many tuna and cucumber sandwiches were eaten by the marketing department as they wrestled over which word was the most "impactful"

  • @jock2002uk, Main reason is that it goes against good dieting, it suggests eating them between meals at the last 1/2 of the ad. It's pathetic but that is the main reason.

  • yeah seen this as well really col

  • Ive just seen this ad agean after 20 years on channel 4 after coach trip

  • ah.. those were the days even though i wasn't born then :)

  • i remember it too......big time warp for me

  • I was also 2. It was my fav childhood ad. And is still in my top 5 favs. I still remember it like it was yesterday. 20 years ago. Where did the years go.

  • 1989?! i was 2 then. How do I remember it lol. all i remember was cars driving and the words "the red car and the blue car had a race" or something.

I've wanted to see this again since the 90s lol. here goes.

    hazza

  • god this takes me back, my fav ad as a whipper snapper

  • I remember the red car and blue car brought out a single and told the story of how they went home for Christmas.

I brought that single for my son and he lost it...

Does anyone know where I can order this from?

  • Home for Christmas Day - Written and composed by Mike Connaris, and sung by Bob Saker.

are the details if it is not too late...

  • They Sould Put This On TV Again :)

  • They have I have just watched it during the ad break

  • wow it old :)
