  • like most technology it won't surprise you that HSS technology is about 10+ years old. I first read about this back in the day I used to dream about the awesome devices that could be made and how you could finally have a 1 speaker sound system with 10 virtual speakers.

I love this tech but I'm always dismayed when they say "Oh by the way" we sold it to the Military and they are buying IT fast as we can make them! and ITs a weapon! Remember the sound Canons use on the INCREDIBLE HULK!

  • sell it to apple! They will improve it 100 times better!

  • @REALnewDREW How about no you crazy Dutch bastard!

  • They have shown this tech. of directional speaker before in the 90s in an Australian tech show called Beyond 2000!

  • he's right. focusing light is a big deal, as evidenced by computer monitors.

  • A real genius. Compares really favorably with some people who just slog it after discovering just one step beyond what had been discovered before

  • okay I get it, so next time you invite a cute girl to watch a movie at your house, she's gotta get up on you or else she can't hear =D

  • pretty neat technology other than the fact its going to be used around the world and in this country to enslave people

  • Woody thinks of it Chuck does it.

  • he didn't graduate college and he did all that... just like most successful people.

  • It's sad such an interesting idea HAS to have a military use.

  • chuck norris real dad?

  • People laugh.... And THAT tech is going to be used against us pretty soon.... Keep laughing america! Kudos to you electric sheeps!

  • This would be awesome in Movies Theaters, In a horror flick you can make audience freak out from one side of the room as if the creature is coming from the side. Awesome!!

  • Awesome inventions I like this guy.

Personally I would not sell anything to no millitary though.

  • i love the retards out there that put down inventors --- just think retards if an invent didnt invent you wouldnt have a life on the computer

  • Well he didn't invent sound directing entirely cuz.. earphones.

  • @Trinivalts you are incorrect, earphones are simply small loud speakers, they are by no means directional. Turn them up and people all around you can hear your music.

  • @Hajenko That's arguing semantics, the exact same thing can be said about this thing, just turn it at some other people and voila. And earphones aren't meant for listening to them by not having them on as well. If u mean those cheap noncaped ones, then that's a different thing. Capped earphones are directional by being isolative. U could say they're spacial instead of directional, but by being spacial they're also very much directional.

  • @Trinivalts you can still hear earphones when they're turned up enough and turned away from your ears. nice try, thanks for playing.

  • @albinolintel facepalm* So!? If u turn this thing onto the target u get the same result. Earphones may not be as convenient, but they're directional enough. We don't even know what's the sound quality to this is, maybe it's crappy compared to earphones.

  • he reminds me of a good physics teacher I had. unfortunaltely I was expelled from the school he taught

  • Okay, straight off the bat, to the 20 fucking idiots who gave this video a thumbs down, fuckin fuck you fuckers. Go live in the jungle and get unwillingly fornicated by an aggressive rhinoceros.

  • I don't know what to make of this stuff.... O_O

  • This stuff would give me a headache.:o

  • so.. um... if u cancel noise to automobiles you're going to have alot of deaths of blind folks. They/we NEED to HEAR the sound.

  • And Chuck can suck on it.

  • With this guy keep saying "na.. thats not true", I would begin to not to trust him.

  • Great video, and owesome invention!.

I liked watch any second of this video.

    Good lecture.

  • Point at enemys and blow their eardrums out without taking damage yourself...seems like something this guy may want to look into as he comes off as a smug, greedy ass.

  • 9:19

Thanks for selling it to the pentagon and not to the rock concerts, instead of saving our ears let's fight unextistant enemies!

  • @windigoneurosis "unexistant", eh? Makes your invalid opinion seem all the more ridiculous.

  • if your last name is norris, you MUST be a great person

  • This guy is incredibly dull and not as awesome as he thinks.

  • Woody Norris is Chucks Brother

  • Thumbs up for making people feel paranoid!!!!

  • i cant hear shit wtf is this!

  • Please replace train horns with these!

  • I think he owns the patent on Chuck Norris and made 2 million $ by selling it to the military last week. The Afghans have the patent on Macgyver!

  • if only he knew martial arts like chuck norris...

  • wow :O bloody amazing inventor can wait to try these new speakers out :D

  • So this fucker loves to make better brainwashing and help the fascist pigs with their war crimes...

  • @trakkaton War crimes? Its a god dammed ad calm your shit bro.

I bet you saw an ad before this video.

  • @cmd2tuts

Your drivel makes no sense whatsoever. Try to form a coherent sentence next time.

  • intelligents, you lack, as well as anything greater than minun wage, because for some reason you have no imagination, which will lead you to retirement, along the same path you are on now,, same job + no imagination + no desire to dream of something you can do with your spare time to one day take over your full time job, creating a large amount of money = freedom of your youth again, but this time you don't ask your parents for money , you go to YOUR bank,,,think about something YOU can create.

  • This is shit.

  • the next big thing is watching porn while you take a crap

  • @success4111 Wow i bet your sex life is weird. Porn and crap should never be heard in the same sentence.

  • lol the series the better of ted stole this (the voice of god)

  • lol i didn even hear it

  • @matt517472 that's the whole point duh!

  • @thepianoaddict lol i know, it was a joke XD

  • @matt517472 oh. sorry :P i'm not good with jokes...

    "knok knok"

  • You could pull a prank on someone by pointing it at them while they're sitting near their friends. They'd comment on the song that they're hearing, but since the friends aren't hearing it, they'd have no idea what their friend is talking about.

  • Good idea chief... lets monitor our children even less than we already do. maybe we should just start turning them out when they turn 5 and see what happens

  • @kazacomy Are you stupid? i bet you didnt even watched the vid.

  • Great idea chief... lets monitor what are children are being exposed to even less. maybe we can just turn em out at age 5 and see what happens.

  • lol i bet this could be turned into a weapon.... but it is dam cool. I bet this will be quite common in 20 years.

  • That Be Awesome Having Your Laptop without head phones watch a movie n not disturb anyone around you!!! Where Can I INVEST Lol

  • Ohh yeah cause ultrasound is ohh so safe...

  • cool

  • Woody Norris was born in 1938 . . . Fuck!

  • @enteradj Yeah, for being roughly 70-so years old, he looks and actually is surprisingly young.

  • @enteradj are you serious? lol i thought he was in his mid 50s

  • I wonder if this guy has ties with the people at HAARP

  • @DJJohndice I can hear the conspiracy nutters thundering towards this thread now.

    THe cancer approaches.

  • @DarkKnightBob1o1 Great, now we just added a article to wikipedia

  • THIS is awesome! Marketing that ISNT evil!

  • Comment removed

  • It would be great if this guy was less 'all about the gold' and more 'all about doing good things'.

  • Please mind that the invention this guy is boasting about was registered in 1994 in Russia: the number is 94032106/03. Why americans like to steal everything and pretend to be pioneers? I doubt that with their school education level, they can be so inventorous. Shame to such talks

  • I am amazed how Americans steal everything and then boast as if they discover something and invent... The history of bulb is clear and simple: in 1873 the Russian scientist Ladygin made two bulbs that were lit up in St. Petersburg and then Edison registered the updated version of the bulb in 1879 (can you at least compare the dates?) and began the production. Actually Edison also tricked Tesla and thus should not be praised too much as he was an ungrateful stealer. Sorry.

  • Auf dieses Video antworten...You must be lucky having the right to live in the USA. My brother Markus Bott was tortured by the german BND, the former GESTAPO during five and a half years. He was assassinated on july, 11th 2009. Just because of our homepage linked on my channel.

    Martin Bott

  • SUPER SONIC BOOM .

  • This is an amazing invention, and yet all I can think of is the desire to use this as a "Sound Gun" against A-holes who sit in traffic blasting their trunk-rattling garbage "music". I love loud music, but I don't feel the need to annoy others with it.

  • man i wish i could actually hear it...funny that it affects his mic when he turns it on.

  • i invented a back scratcher today. i taped 3 pencils together

  • Is the ultrasound created by this device going to upset animals?

  • Isnt that terrific! ( no one claps) lol

  • Apocalyptic Talk Stokes Microchip Implant DebateUpdated: 1 day 2 hours ago

(Feb. 11) -- Forbidding companies from forcing employees to have microchips implanted in their bodies isn't just about protecting personal freedom; it might ward off the biblical "mark of the beast," according to a lawmaker who's pushing for such a ban in Virginia.

The state House overwhelmingly approved Del. Mark Cole's bill Wednesday. Several other states already have similar laws or are considering them.

  • omg the pranks i could do with this...

  • Point it to your next door neighbor and say : " This is God Talking to You " adding anything you want them to do at your discretion, Call it Mind Control.

  • Hey, does anyone know where to buy something like this???

  • wow! at first I thought that this is like activephased radar and thus nothing new but this is really cool.

  • great invention but its evil

  • I think some of its uses can be considered evil, but the invention itself isnt evil

  • the scary thing is that our government is using great technology like this on its own ppl.

  • They actually used this on an islamic prisioner. To make believe Allah was talking to him whilst in his cell. It is on youtube somewhere.

  • Phenomenal mind and a guy who does not worry about "smart" people. He knows what makes sense to him and he knows how to pursue it. Congrats.

  • This could have devastating effects if used incorrectly.

    1. I could have sworn there was a Russian man who came up with about the same idea, way long ago (but the prototype was housed in a tennis racket).

    2. The army (especially the Israeli) is already using this for military purposes quite a while now.

    3. During a (rock) concert, frequencies below 200 Hz are key, but they are the hardest to focus, hence I don't think there's ever going to be a similar subwoofer (though I'd kill to see that!)

  • Can you give more detail on this being used as a military weapon?

     A link?

  • split screen tv THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!!!

  • This will be awsome for new style head phones

  • hes my new role model how do i buy one

  • i wish i had a way to reproduce those hz

  • i hope he can find the way to reproduce freqs. above 200hz... and we'll have this amazing invention in our hands for all purpouse

  • actually he said it doesn't go below 200hz.

  • but its unfortunate it can't go below that.

  • laser sound?

  • Tesla invented the light bulb!

  • Actually Tesla didn't invent the light bulb. It's true that he and Edison were considered rivals, but in a completely different and far grander arena. Google "War of Currents" to learn more of this subject. Tesla was a far more brillient scientist and inventor that Edison ever was - this caused jealosy and bitterness in our boy Thomas.

It happens to be, however, that Edison wasn't the first person to come up with an idea of a light bulb, he was the first to patent it.

  • Yeah, there were plenty of different light bulbs before Edison's - they were just extremely uneconomic and so forth.

  • True. Tesla did however make a bulb that was much cheaper and easier to manufacture, safer, and was used to light the first Worlds Fair.

  • @Tapahtumahorisontti

tesla was working alone...and thomas had over 20 people working for him!

they are so much different.....tesla was a freak & dreamer! thomas was a workhorse.

i can bet we have 10 % of tesla inventions, the rest is hidden or gone over the years.....

  • @Tapahtumahorisontti Tesla created the 21st cent.

  • Nonsense you cant sell.

  • I'm pretty sure the US Military is buying a lot of them since he said so with his mouth while speaking words.

  • Lol, probably the best comment ive read for a while. Just wanted to congratulate you on the awesome.

  • Hi is good! we will see how his company goes~

  • In Madame Tuesauds Rock Circus they have focussed sound. You step onto a wee circle and the song comes down over you, you step out of the circle and you can't hear the song anymore. I think 1 song is a David bowie one.

  • i didnt hear shit

  • What a myopic nerd, like the quantum computing scientists. Interesting how the most laughter comes when Woody says how the USA will fake troop movement somewhere against a hill. Do those idiots who laugh realize that it is not humans who will be in control of this technology and the unimaginably glut of future technology of this kind? I am sorry to be "negative" but humanity is in for a rude awakening. Do you know how to spell "horror?" that is what we will experience the way things are going.

  • sounds like someone just saw terminator

  • The Terminator is incredibly simplistic compared to the horror that is likely to happen. Imagine hearing sounds where there is nothing while robots of all sizes attack you, from inside and outside your body. ... for instance nanotechnology. Woody himself admits that the surface of possible technology has not even been scratched.

  • That's scary! Will the robots come installed with an "off" switch?

  • I study AI, and I'll tell ya, the doomsday stories about robots taking over the earth are all highly unlikely. If you want to talk end of days, it's far more likely that we accidentally release a killer virus, or that some religious extremist tries to bring about armageddon, or that we accidentally trigger a mass extinction that destabilizes a part of the ecosystem that we depend on. The only way to ward that off is understanding.

  • Remarkable people? Bill Clinton?! Remarkable dirt-bag is more like it. Might as well throw Bush Junior AND Senior up there, Al Gore, Obama etc. It'll be a dirt-bag convention.

  • good ideas can come from anyone

  • There is a line that has to be drawn here of course (I think the Biblical thing was too far).

But the turret is just.. SO SICK!!! Brilliantly simple, man...

  • why is the biblical thing too far? it would determine (or at least help determine) if they're allies or not.

  • So any non-Christian is your enemy?

  • i was speaking in military terms, and it has nothing to do with religion. i'm an atheist anyway, and it doesn't matter what they say on the speakers, but the biblical thing would be funny to do. it would determine who's an ally by seeing if there is a temperature shift when they hear it. i can't believe i just had to explain that whole thing to you, hopefully you go the message.

  • I understand your intentions and i agree that it would be funny but again you are assuming that an ally would be Christian and an enemy wouldnt. biblical is a direct reference to Christianity. so lets just say it can be used by any faith to identify people of a different faith regardless of the reason they have in mind. sorry for over analyzing.

  • let's just leave it as "it would be a funny thing to do, regardless of politcal correctness (or lack thereof)". most of the american troops are christian and most of the "enemy" is not and that's not just assumption. if you're going to whisper into there ears from miles away you might as well have fun doing it, even if they don't understand. the point is for them to hear voices of americans and see how they respond, having fun while doing it will only lessen the stress on our troops anyway.

  • Um... well honestly, haha, my interpretation at the time was kind of stupid.

I think it would be very beneficial to have the technology for the reason you pointed out.

  • you'd think they could apply it toward something other than consumer novelty or war mongers...

  • great invention..

  • excuse me but doesnt it affect our brains like causing a headache or something

  • I don't see how it would, but I also don't see why people are voting you down for asking a question, so I could just be clueless.

  • i forgot to say that it is an intresting device it will actually help in the future

  • Great invention for cinemas, home theaters and other things..not sure about having annoying adverts in the supermarket, it is already annoying with all those products that you don't want and need....

  • I wish i had a sound laser..

WOW that would be so cool in public.

  • It sounds like he's bragging and selling the whole time. Interesting stuff though.

  • futurama time

  • creepy...the CIA used to to use this kinda stuff in the 60's and 70's to electronically harrass people

  • I didn't hear it? What's my problem?

  • if some poor sod did not know that this existed then i wonder how they would feel when they were constantly bombarded by human voice not around them but using doppler inside there head. or the original microwave technology using clicks to produce a monotone robotic sounding voice they would be going mad yes/no......

  • Comment removed

  • Great, more annoying ways for ads and commercials to be shoved down out throats.

Minority report/thought police written all over it..

  • i love buying random shit off the tv so i can listen to tv while my "spouse sleeps comfortably!" at 5 million payments of 19.95 so it can break 2 seconds after I open the box, especially since I have so much to spend on that bs. what a waste.

  • Meh, it'll be better. You can chose if you want to hear it or not. You can be AD free for the rest of your life if this invention got out on the market.

  • The point is I shouldn't have to choose something like that every time I go outside, and it shouldn't be forced on me.

Television and radio is different, this is talking public annoyance/harassment and there will no doubt be privacy issues as well. What about medical conditions? Do these waves interfere with hearing aids, pacemakers etc? Do they even care if it does or not?

I certainly would not shop at a place that employs these invasive techniques.

  • You wouldn't hm, if this gets the interest of everyone, it'll cost about nothing, and it'll be almost free. People want to make money, so they'll put 10's of those things in their shops, to get money from the AD people.

If they do, all the shops will have them, and then you would have to choose if you're gonna stay on the red line, og beside it- ad free or not. =D

Hearing aids, and pacemakers. I doubt that 100%.

Look at a pic of Tokyo, or NY etc, Ads will fuck you up no matter if you run =D

  • @jewto0b Did you not understand that part where you can step out of the ad.

  • @jewto0b

  • @jewto0b did you even WATCH the video?

  • Excuse me!.... wasn't that invented by Germans during mid 30's?.... and it was called a "sound cannon">?>? bunch of bs not a patenting ....

  • Our military uses this technology today.

  • yes but not in missions, its for crowd control on riots.... 1st idea was to use it as anti aircraft weapon... didnt work out lol

  • Dude we could have the ultimate psycological advantage. Imagine if we pointed this at some insurgents and said like "Quit now, allah will destroy you for what you have done" in arabic. They would reconsider their shit so bad.

  • first research their culture, then u will now why it wont be as easy as this, + i doubt they will be that dumb, and if they were, wouldnt you think they wouldnt do such a thing and there will be no war anymore? if anyone has a psychological advantage is them, and us army is the one that should (and they recently did) "reconsider their shit".

  • Dude, all "terrorists" believe in an extremely radical version of the islamic faith. They are brainwashed. Thus if they heard "allah" speaking to them directly telling them what they're doing is wrong, they would believe it. It would drive them insane.

  • duuude... again research their culture, like i told you before if it was that easy wouldn't you think there will be no more war? oooh wait, patent it and sell it to the military..lol

  • Not all terrorists believe in islam. Most of the "terrorists" have had their families killed by some angry americans, then they want to kill them, since they've got nothing to lose.

What do people do then? Yeah, kill more people, and get this going on forever. They've started a cluster of events that won't stop, untill the whole white race, or the sand people race is gone ;)

  • Yes, well put. A shame that this was all created as a result of personal interests.

  • Me, on the other hand would do my best to kill as many as possible till I died myself. ^^ But that's mostly because of our culture. If we get fucked with, we fuck them up. It's in our blood, from the viking age. It's called: "blods hevn" or in english: "Blood revenge". It happens all the time here, even now. ^^

  • 99% of them do. Islam is the enemy of peace and civility. Stop lying to yourself!

  • It really doesn't matter which religion they have. The worst terrorists are religious people.

Can't say that they all are followers of islam, not in the radical way. Just think for yourself- what if your most loved one was killed because of a leader in your country has a different culture than the leader in another country- then the one that got insultet kills your loved ones just and calls it: "OH, we mis bombed, shhhh". Would you just think: "o, that sucks" then do nothing? :p

  • The only psychological advantage the insurgents have is unpredictability.

  • they are very predictable.... they will kill the "infidels" and they are willing to die doing it... they have nothing to loose, and they aren't afraid of ANYTHING.... they dont have fear... that is the main psychological advantage they have.... 1st what you trying to do when you fight somebody, is to intimidate them, how can you intimidate someone who has no fear, and absolutely no fear, and they arent afraid of death. for the same reason it was very difficult to defeat Russians and Japan before

  • Great job Chuck. Now invent a mind controling device and sell it to the army and supermarkets.

    Fuck you all.

  • they laugh at 10:38 ...

    those who gave

pesnemarn the thump down should lookup united states patent number 5,159,703

  • Silent subliminal presentation system? Nice one.

This guy doesn't seem to be about anything but money. Yeah, great thing he has a mind to create things. But what's that worth, if he can't control things?

  • and how will this thing be applied to the porn industry? hmmm?

  • continue thinking that way and you will continue seen the market in the floor

    to: joomlajimmy

  • wonderful!

  • Woody Norris ? More like CHUCK NORRIS .

  • yeah, the less amazing technology that goes to the militaries of the world the better off we the people are. thats technology that they have and we dont (the high powered ones). and im never comfortable with that. dont ever think it cant be used against you. the government also has basically a weapon that scrambles electromagnetic signals, for example your brainwaves and...THOUGHTS, and can aim subliminal messages directly into your subconscious. not to be paranoid but thats not good.

  • Interesting technology, but how disappointingly uninspiring that his vison for it focuses (pun intended ;-) on marketing and the military.

  • without the military you wouldnt be seeing this video

  • Ah... and without balls my uncle would be my aunt, right?

How I love counterfactual reasoning! It always sounds so profound, doesn't it... even if it means nothing at all.

  • i dont think it applies
