at last we could see them here again...This tune is one of the greatest tunes of the 80's ..even perhaps of all time..i love the soulful ,sweetsadness tone it bring ..a reflection of my time in the 80's...the orchestra is a classic..
I luv the female vocals on this track. I don't think they appear on the video but on the album track they do. So beautiful the female vocal on the album track.
I like the version from the album How To Be a Zillionaire. Only because the female guest vocalist at the end of the song, which you don't hear in this version. My fave ABC album.
A song which comes on us like a warm pool of water, wait...something is swimming under the water. It isn't small at all like everyone thinks..in fact one moment you see a rim going under, then this rim never ends! What is swimming in the Ocean and coming up to the surface?
What an extraordinary song ... the 80s, my and ur youth (?), ... ur lady of the heart of that time,... everything combined and reminds me of that time is in this song.
Merric, you are absolutely right. Much as I love new music in all its forms and always will, this type of pop seemed to die out by the late 80s which is a complete shame.
yes, they dont mke music like this anymore...the melody, arrangement plus the orchestra is so pleasing to listen..it fits the theme of the song perfectly..especially the 2:28 part..
Their sound is so soulful and fantastic. It really takes you away from the daily routine. A perfect mix of electronic music, soul and pop music, with that lovely British international flair. We just don't have this sort of music anymore, which is sad.

I think I read somewhere that Martin Fry worked as a musical consultant for the movie "Music and Lyrics". The one with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore.
I loved that film! I thought it had a great soundtrack that really captured the spirit of the 80s. :)

Also a touch of Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music) in the flavor of their Music !!!
Weygandt 3 years ago
Yes, like around their "Avalon" days. :)
Earlier on, they'd had a more "rock" sound. Towards the end, it got more mellow.
peppermintgarage 3 years ago
Yes I completely agree they both have similarities....
Avalon was truly a work of art. I still love all of Bryan Ferry's work.
Weygandt 3 years ago
Me, too. I actually like his version of "Jealous Guy" better than Lennon's.
No disrespect meant to Lennon, of course. I love him, too.
peppermintgarage 3 years ago 2
Yea....my wife always wants to take me in the other room everytime she hears it! Needless to say I play the song a lot!!! LOL!!!

I don't blame you. Hehe... ;)

yes,the orchestration is unbelievably awesome!! the momentum towards the end is classic for a "pop song".
