  • How big are your cups? Your 1 cup of flour looks at least 300g, exactly the same amount of flour as a standard Victoria sponge recipe (3 or 4 eggs per 175 - 200g flour)! Looks nice, I'll try this one, especially as I love Spongebob Squarepants *LOL* ;-P

  • @jtsndhami yeast allows the cake to rise, it can be bought in any supermarket, it looks like grainy powder.

  • Hi sanjay Your cake recepie are great ...I have tried it and it has always turned out to be a delicacy...I just wanna ask one question...my cake always sticks in the middle part baking tray . I use refined oil and sprinkle bit of flour on the baking tray...PLz reply soon

  • i use a regular hand blender for beating eggs but my egg whites are NEVER stiff no matter how long i beat them. they just become very frothy .. any suggestions? whats the name of the machine he used to beat egg whites?

  • @akshivanvi No, the whites wont whip up if the yolk is in there, and you need the whites whipped to give you the air.

  • @yashprakashveni - You can create an oven by using a pressure cooker on a gas stove. Add some sand in it and heat the sand to create your own oven or try using a double boiler where you will bake your cake in an air tight container immersed into a double boiler. Important point is to check the cake once every 15 mins to check if its done - because you dont have a preset temp thats controlled in an oven. Hope this helps.

  • @desichhokri : hi,all ovens come with a grill. as soon as your cake it done, take it out of the mould and place it on the grill to cool. when the cake is hot, it has a lot of steam and if that is not allowed to escape, your cake will become soggy and will become bad soon. hoe this helps

  • loved ur recipe chef.......i found it a bit tricky to mix the flour with the rest of the mixture but learning baking only coz of u :)......i was quite happy with the way my cake came out yesterday but it wasn't moist inside......and i have noticed your mixture itself looks a bit runny whereas mine wasn't that runny......cud u let me knw where was i wrong plz?

  • i tried this and did not notice that you had to put vanilla essence(because he doesnt say it) and my cake smells like raw eggs!its an okay cake..a little burnt on one side but i like the christmas fruit cake better.

  • You can use one teaspoon lemon juice to get rid of eggs smell. I used before to make suiss roll cake without using a butter, it was greatttttt.

  • @NightAng3l01 cuz.. probably the ingredients weren't incorporated enough... sometimes.. the egg mixtures surfaces and then it cooks separately... so maybe mix it a little bit more but not tooo much...

  • I did it :))) my sponge cake turned out best today.... I had a terrible time with 'whisking' the egg white .. I don't have that special kind of cake mixer.. it costs about 200 $ in stores .. I cant afford it.. anybody know a way to beat egg white without that..

  • you can get an electric hand-mixer which are much cheaper :)

  • Sponge cake needs lot of practice.Each step needs to be followed to the letter like the consistency of beaten egg yolk, and do not add any butter to it.Plus i think he added too much flour and sugar.Sponge cake mainly consists of more eggs than flour.And there is no need for baking powder.And always add the remaining ingerdients into the egg white very slowly and needs to be baked straightaway.Eggs at room temperature beat well.

    i tried this recipe yesterday. the batter in your video looks awesome, and mine turned out the same, i poured the batter into two 9" pans, the cakes were nicely risen when they came out of the oven , but when i left them for cooling, they shrunk, and tasted uncooked, like an uncooked omlette. Please please Please tell me where did i go wrong? Waiting for your reply.

  • hey, baking soda will not help to rise the cake

    so you will have to use baking powder or else the cake will shrink when comes out of the oven.

    baking soda is commonly used in cookies, etc...
