Liberal egalitarianism and the common, tiring confusion of the essential differences between political pull and economic leverage were alive and well even in the 1950's.
There is nothing despotic about concentrations of wealth or land ownership provided they are earned freely.
What superficial, sloppy observations this film makes.
They weren't as rich because the didn't produce anything and they didn't have to use "covert propaganda" (ie: advertising). They could just force you to accept their 5 year plans or their divine right.
It's a shame how despotic our nation is today. So how old is this film and when can you get this on mainstream TV?

'There is nothing despotic about concentrations of wealth or land ownership provided they are earned freely.'
Perhaps something of an oxymoron.

If you're going to assert something at least have the courtesy to support it with an argument.
Soviet Party leaders and Medieval feudal lords are a far cry from Bill Gates and Ted Turner.
