I am 37 years old and a DIE HARD Hindi movie fan...THIS is when Hindi movies meant something and when ACTING WAS ACTING....not like today's hindi movie which is pathetic, no story, no acting, no beauty, no nothing really....want to know what acting is all about, the beauty and fun of acting...filks all you got to do is watch this youtube and your questions will be answered....THIS IS A PURE AND PRICELESS TREASURE THAT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER!!! God, I miss the good ol'days!!! :)
what a lovely song sung by Kishore. Can we ever get a kishore again. The passion behind singing and uttering the words gracefully. That was a real beauty duet.
Let my heart always sing....You are my fate and my eternal destiny I want these days and nights with you to be eternal... People in love will only keep on loving Dont care about people who are jealous about our love The two hearts joined are beating together and will always sing... O my love always walk with me hand in hand Please don't change even if the whole world changes Our love will see us thru roughest times Why the distance between us end of day is telling us to be one Let my heart...
It's a pity we don't have such songs being composed/sung/directed these days......one just wishes the music directors/lyricists of these days were made to take thorough lessons from stalwarts of the yesteryears....but sigh!..I know that can't happen...
Kishore Kumar voice suits Dev lot. Both KK and Lata sung this song so beautifully. KK sung only one song in this Movie but he got award for this particular song.
Although my mother tongue is Tamil and I don't know to speak Hindi. I love Hindi songs. I like this song very much. I listen to it many times. I like Dev Anand, one of most stylish actor that ever been born. The way he show is Love in this song to Waheeda Rehman is the most beautiful and most spectacular moment ever captured in cinema. I enjoy every moment of this song..Everything in the movie is awesome.
One of the best movies ever produced. Very sad ending. Waheeda was the best dancer of her time. Especially in that snake dance in the movie was simply mind blowing
I saw this movie when I was small and absolutely loved it. Years later I happened to read the novel The Guide originally written by R K Narayan on which the movie is based. The film is great but the book is even better. Awesome experience.
well, first of all, a great song... its always great to listen to Kishoreda & lataji's songs. and when they come together, they make magic. like in this song. look at the pair in the song. can u point anyone in recent times who is as handsome as devanand or as beautiful as waheeda??? this is what is known as true beauty.. one of the greatest songs of all time & a great movie, of course...
i used to beg my parents to put this film on all the time when i was younger. even though i never fully understood the film then, i was captivated by the magic this film exudes. it's beyond amazing to watch this again. thanks!
one of the most beautiful songs ever made. they are so made for each other. and the voices of kishore & lata match them so well. listening to this song makes ones heart fill with joy... thanks for uploading..
To "justanotherfrog"...I agree with you completely on what you wrote....films of today has lost it's originality. I am not saying all films of today has lost originality...about 95% of the films has..there is like 5% of movies with originality. I hate the fact that filmmakers put actors and actresses on a street in Europe and have them literally dancing on a busy street...what the hell are they thinking?? It's awful!! Guide has beauty, originality...more importantly...a story!! Cheers!
Truly a classic! This is what you call a song, not the rubbish bollywood is making now. One of the greatest movies of the 20th century. Old is indeed gold. Kishoreji and Lataji rock this number. Beautiful song with a very deep meaning.
...very romantic, ofcourse, but can I politely ask what's happening from 1:20-1:26...looks like waheeda went there with a full bladder/bowel...sorry no offence to fans.
yannai: one more thing, nowadays the actors and actresses try to dress up, and look all cool and whatever..they really dress so cheap and no class..just trying to be cool...whatever!!...just look at this song, and you see beauty, you see style and grace...actors of today should look back at these clips and realize what cool and beauty is truly all about and that's simple..it's Dev Anand and Waheedaji!! I THANK GOD FOR GIVING US THE 60's and 70's to CHERISH AND REMEMBER...FOREVER CLASSICS! :)
Yaanai: I can't disagree with you on that at all...listening to this song shows originality, beauty, and sincere enjoyment in listening to a song. Great stories, fantastic and sincere acting, and more importantly originality!! You don't find originality in movies nowadays very much. I think Mumbai is trying to cater films toward American crowds, and they should not try to do that...American desi crowds want to enjoy movies and reminds them of home...not America!! That's just my opinion! :)
Yes Sanjeev you are so right. I have had the occasion to watch actors at close quarters. my dad was a film producer. These chaps had class, acting was their passion and that was the case with the story tellers, lyricists, musicic directors, editor you name it. We have simply lost the art of story telling completely. If I remember, the only Hindi movie in the Times All great 100 movies is Pyaasa by Guru Dutt made fifty years ago.
I agree with you completely Sapna....we should really be thankful to have seen true greatness which we call Hindi cinema back in its best times. Please do not get me wrong as I am not bashing hindi movies...hindi movies I love with all my heart, and there is only one actor today that I admire and respect and that is Mr. Aamir Khan...However, today's films I guess have lost the art of making what a film should be about...it's not about dancing on a city street in London with 40 people...bye! :)
One more thing Sapna...when you listen to popular songs of today, in probably 4 or 5 years you forget about them...THANK GOD YOU DO!! :) : But, But when you hear songs like from "Guide"....which is 43 years old, like this beautiful song here....it's still just as popular today, as it was back then...it has passion...it has singers who could sing and leave a beautiful and everlasting impression in your heart....and that is because of Kishore and Lata...THE BEST OF ALL TIME!! :)
I agree that a lot of stuff lately is pretty stupid. I feel like they're trying too hard lately to be like English movies, so instead of original stories we are getting rip-offs of American films. To top that off, we get stuff with women dancing around to stupid rap songs with hardly any clothes on...
But not everything is bad! There have been a good deal of nice movies too! I'm waiting for the new generation to make something as great as Guide...
Thanks for everyone writing back to me. I think back in the classic days of Hindi cinema, Hindi movies were original and fun to watch. Todays, movies are just trying to be Americanized and they are REALLY losing their originality. Films in the 70's were so enjoyable to watch, and I dare anyone to disagree with me on that. Today's generation can have kuch kuch hota hai, dhoom, hera pheri etc...I will take GolMaal, Angoor, Ram Balram, Sholay, Hum Kisise Kum Naheen ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!
You are right, Indian film industries not only losing their originality - they already lost!
you wont see these songs, musics, dedication, acting, lyrics and its sad. these all old movies and songs are treasure for all of us and we should keep it safe.
This is WHAT Hindi cinema SHOULD be about...NOT like today's bakwas!!! This is what class and treasure is about. Yes, today's generation can have an idiot in ShahRukh Khan, but back in the day...girls died and went crazy for Mr. Dev Anand!! What a legend!! I'm 34 years old, and for me...my favorite actor, my idol, my guru will always be Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Today's young actors I guess don't get it, and make stuff to be like American cinema...SAD!! Really Sad!!
i totally agree, even up to the 90's the movies were pretty good i think, but nowadays its just half naked women and item songs that make up the movies :P
i know what you mean! More than half the time I watch a new Bollywood movie, I find myself fastforwarding the songs. Some are good, but most just sound exactly the same as others. I rarely fast forward songs when I watch old movies :-)
Sanjeev: How about the black and white beauties of the 50s and 60s: good story, great acting, fantastic music (I have a hard time choosing among SJ, SDB, LP, KA, CR, MM and of course Naushad). It was a time of riches upon riches. Frankly, I think todays fare is very colorful, but very noisy and mediocre acting.
Dear Indians and everyone who sees this beautiful music,
I am a Tibetan and I love Indians. Due to the recent political protests against China, the Tibetan race is under threat of being wiped out from the face of history. I need you more then ever before in this hour of my country's history.

translation:1.Let my heart keep on singing, you'r my goal, lest these nights and the days go invain 2.o my life sharer, keep on moving by holding my hands,
WOW !! I like this song alot .... it will remain evergreen always !! Through out the whole song waheeda rehman is wearing the same saree ...not like now a days heroins change dress so many times in the song !! joke: Ques: Do u know why Waheeda Rehman didnt change her saree throughout the song? . . . come yaar guess . . . Answer: Becoz Dev Anand told her in the song..BADLE DUNIYA SAREE TUM NA BADALNA ;) LOL LOL.....enjoy the joke with this song !! hahah .
Only 17, & I only love my oldies (so melodious). Classics like these will live forever. Wonder what ever happened to the indian culture in current Bollywood Movies? Don't get me wrong or anything but they do have good songs, but where is the culture, although change is good as well. But one thing I could say for sure is that Bollywood would beat Hollywood ANYTIME!!!
One of the most amazing Hindi songs. I grew up with this song, and I'm only 20. Thank you so much for posting these videos. Brings back so many memories of my deceased father, he always played these songs for me. Thank you.
Wow, this is awesome. This reminds me of being back home in Trinidad. My grandfather used to play these songs all the time. What great memories and feelings this brings back to me. Thanks for posting this. Gosh, I miss home :-(
Indian dressers are brilliant at clothes contrast and the cinematographers have excellent picturisation. the general public do not appreciate it enough.

MY TRANSLATION:
May my heart continue to sing, you are my destination Let these nights not pass, may these days never end
Those who love are going to love
The ones who are jealous will die from envy
Those whose hearts beat, their hearts will always say
Let these nights not pass, may these days never end
huma7586 3 years ago
Oh my companion, keep hold of my arms as you walk
Let the whole world change, but you never change
Love will teach us how to survive in hardship
Let these nights not pass, may these days never end
Now there is no distance, oh the evening is going
As it is setting its making us understand
This breath that comes and goes who knows since when has been singing
Let these nights not pass, may these days never end

Only 17, & I only love my oldies (so melodious). Classics like these will live forever. Wonder what ever happened to the indian culture in current Bollywood Movies? Don't get me wrong or anything but they do have good songs, but where is the culture, although change is good as well. But one thing I could say for sure is that Bollywood would beat Hollywood ANYTIME!!!

One of the most amazing Hindi songs. I grew up with this song, and I'm only 20. Thank you so much for posting these videos. Brings back so many memories of my deceased father, he always played these songs for me. Thank you.
