What also may help alot is to use the mario tornado (Down B) as a recovery move by repanly tapping it, but because of brawl my friends blindly see it as a better game (much perfer melee) so I don't know if it will help alot here.

one time i was playing ssbm at my sister's husband's house and i was playing as mario against kirby on the green greens stage, and i lured kirby to the star blocks, then kirby used his down+b attack and he killed himself several times. and i started laughing so hard. it was hilarious to see kirby kill himself. XD

Some tips would be USE YOUR F-ING CAPE ITS WHY HE HAS IT!!!!

IT HELPS YOU RECOVER AS WELL AS EDGE GUARD!!!

Also grab more then throw doc upwards and use back airs
