  • I am thinking about doing a 5000k-6000k HID install on my e30 ('89 325i, not sealed beam). Only issue is that it is my first time doing a HID install and I don't want to mess it up. Do you have any recommendations for a kit and housings?

  • Love the car! E30 is the best!

  • Hey Where did you get those HIDS at i saw some on ebay but they look cheap i wanna get legit ones

  • @Dieselboy805 DDM tuning has kits for cheap and with a great warranty

  • @Modena72486 oh ok thanks man can i get the website?

  • do you have projectors in it?

  • @1sil80 yep euro ellipsoid smileys from Depo. I've had them in there for nearly 5 years with no problems!

  • where did u get the housing from?

  • hay nice lights. I aslo have an e30 its a 1984 325e but I do not have halogen insert bulbs. my headlights are sealed so how do i convert them to hid? do i buy a kit that gives them halogen insert bulbs and then just add the hid kit? did your e30 have sealed headlights

  • @grgreko123 Yes the car originally had sealed beams. I bought the housings (depo) and bulbs seperately. Just remove your sealed beams and the new housings will fit right in. The HID ballasts should plug into your stock receptacles. Pretty easy swap.

  • @Modena72486 I personally bought hella headlight housings for around 200 bucks and then went with ddmtuning (dot) com's HID 55w Kit 12000k Which I paid 95 dollars with all the extra's like upgrades from 35w - 55w and the higher colored bulb.

  • woow cool

  • problem Police

  • Nice car. Dumb lights. Don't go over 6000K if you want to actually see where you're going.

  • They work just fine thanks

  • there is a huge variety in colors to use.....10k for driving is fine...

lower color is for fog lights and such....Once you drop below 6k that is. Everything else is just preference.

  • @dbonanno Hey stupid, 10k is still brighter than stock.

  • @FridayNightLights321 exactly, this is what people forget. They might be less bright than 6000k, but still far brighter than a 55w 12v bulb. They are brighter with more colour. Unfortunately illegal to fit in to reflector headlights in the UK, even projectors UNLESS the car is fitted with auto self levelling units and high pressure washers.

  • @dbonanno Agree with you so much. Not that you can't see where your going, but it doesn't replicate true sunlight very well.

  • You don't need projectors to run HIDs. Lexus and Infinity models come with reflectors. They just have to be focused right not to blind oncoming traffic.

  • u need projectors to run HIDs without blinding everyone. in UK/europe E30 uses H1 fitment bulbs so H1 fitment HID. also u will need warning cancellers for the bulb out light in the car and for the HIDs to work right.

any H1 kit + cancellers will do an E30 and u dont need to wire them to your battery, its all plug and play besides drilling 2 holes and mounting/connecting some stuff. its so easy to do even a brain damaged version of stevie wonder could fit a set.

  • thats what u call rice when people install just the HID bulbs...

  • do you know anything about hid lights. you cant just install bulbs. you need ballast and connections to the battery. its an entirely different operating system.

  • how can i installed if my battery in on the trunk

  • you need a long wire or if your car has terminals under the hood that are used for jumping you should be able to connect there because that is just an extension of the terminals on the battery.

  • hi,

which mcculloch kit did you bought on ebay please?

    there's too many kits!

    thanx!

  • They Are 9006

  • What bulb size you use?

  • that looks SICk!

  • can u install this on any BMW easily yourself?? And where can i purchase the set up?

    thanks

  • yep it's relatively easy. It's just plug and play with the factory wiring. The headlight housings are DEPO and the xenon kit is McKulloch. I purchased both on ebay.

  • i hope your using a relay youll get better power rather then the plug and play kits i seen..where did you get you kit

  • i got a 8000k kit for my 94 325i, took me about 10 min,

  • i got the 12,000k ones, and cops passed me all the times no problems, well so far

  • How many times cops pull ya over? I am thinking about a 5000k kit or maybe 6000k if the cops don't harrasme. What you think?

  • I've been lucky so far and haven't been pulled over. Other drivers flash their brights sometimes but I flash mine right back.

  • did you need to use a relay with this kit,or without

    thanks

  • very nice, i put 2 kits in my toyota corona 1992, see my video.i love this light.

  • i have the same year and everything but and have been looking into these kits but thought i would loose high beam function with the ballast kit. was it a special kit or was i just mislead by what i had seen about them?

    nice looking bmw btw

  • If you look at how the low beam wires connect to the headlights you'll notice there are three connections. One is the ground, one is low beam, and the other is what allows the low beams to stay on with the highs. I just plugged the xenon ballasts into the ground and into the high beam connector and they work fine. Seems like I had to jump a terminal on the headlight relay to make them work, too. I found directions for that online somewhere. Good luck!

  • is that without the hid conversion just the lights bulbs

  • nah it's a full McKulloch HID setup with the ballasts and everything. I bought the ellipsoid projector headlights separately.
