  • looks like a super stargate from sg-1 to me

  • If I may, how about making one or the other off-axis? I get irritated at how most meetings in space take place as if it were at sea, when there's no up or down in space.

It would probably be more dramatic than the way you have it here.

  • Well, even at sea ships will usually face their fighting profile toward their opponent, this presents a lower profile to the opponent and focuses their best armament toward their enemy. Even if they initially met off axis, they would orient their most armed face toward the opponent.

  • True, but I was referring to how the animation assumed that the ships would already be in perfect alignment. If the ISD was twisted a few degrees initially, then rotated to align with the Ent-D, it would probably be much more dramatic and would address a failing that I see in most sci-fi.

I would have said the above, but I was heading out and didn't finish my thought properly.

  • In general I agree with your point, in this case I was working off the idea that they both aligned with respect to the 'wormhole' surface - perpendicular to it. However this was just a preliminary design, I want to change the 'wormhole' to a spherical 3dimensional one, I think I'll intergrate your suggestion then and have the SD some in a little off axis, and make a small slow turn to orient to the EntD.

  • The Star Destroyers look fabulous, but the Enterprise-D wasn't all blocky like that. She was pretty and curvaceous, like a stripper.

  • This is just a low poly mock up, check out my current progress videos for the hi-res versions

  • The wormhole looks strangely like a supergate. Also, will a battle be featuring the yields calculated for an SD (1 turbolaser shot = 3000 photons or something like that), because if it does, it'll be one short battle. I doubt the Enterprise would be one-shoted though, Fed shields always seem to be able to take at least 1 shot from a weapon, no matter how powerful, before their shields fail.

  • The SD starts off with it's light cannons, but a couple shots takes down the shield, the next takes out the warp drive. I figure the heavy cannons would take it out in one shot, but they want to wound and capture the strange ship, instead of blowing it up.

  • Yes, they would probably try to capture the ship, at least if one of the more competent leaders was in charge. I still think they would require 2 shots or a volley to destroy the ship though. Voyager's shields held against one Species 8472 bioship shot before failing, which is roughly 1/9 the Death Star's superlaser, so it seems Fed shields always stop whatever was fired at them first and then fail.

  • I'm not sure the blast they stopped was equivalent to 1/9 the Death Star's main cannon blast. For one thing, the 8472 ships apparently need an amplifier array to increase the power of their main weapons, so each individual ship doesn't have 1/9 the power of the Death Star. Otherwise why use the center ship at all instead of just firing on the same spot?

For another thing, the Death Star's blast is *much* more violent and destructive than the 8472 blast.

  • Yeah that's him, I've always been interested of tehnical descriptions about Star Wars and Star Trek ships.

    Thanks for the video Matus.

  • Any ship having a hyperdrive, would be capable of time travel as well, infact most Star Wars ships use a time travel inhibitor while traveling through hyperspace. This was described in 'movement relativity physics'. while explaining how hyperdrive works.

  • In one of the new Incredible Cross Section books, the technical author (Curtis Saxxon I think?) writes that a Star Wars hyperdrive ship could just as easily jump thousand of years into the future as it could thousands of lightyears away. Certainly an interesting prospect, I'm sure they would be reluctant to use such a tactic though.

  • Take as long as you need for your videos. I'm sure we can wait for your completed version. The longer you take, the more sure we are that it will be great.

  • Matus, do you want me to send you some updated LW star wars and star trek 3d models? I found some on the internet (check my profile and Lightwave animations).

They're relatively small and could probably be emailed. Send me a message if you're interested.

  • Thanks, I'm all set though, I am actually making my own highly detailed Enterprise D model for use in this animation and all ready have a very highly detailed Star Destroyer model completed. Check out some of my other videos for the Enterprise model. Just wish I had more time to work on this!

  • you do realize that the interprize is much smaller in comparison to the SD in the official publications of size, length, width ect.

  • both are modeled to their published specifications exactly.

  • Great video, for a rough draft that is better than what any of us can come up with.

iLuvMargarita can not be any more wrong, Kirk would need to know how to time travel, then either take the plans from Count Dooku somehow, how use spies and get chased by an ISD without hiding them on an astromech droid. Probably watching the episodes would help, but still this video rocks and it's only a rough draft.

  • 1:40 looks like a super giant stargate

  • great video keep up the good work. oh btw--STAR TREK hands down, unless the Imperial forces use that damn Death Star but then Kirk would just time travel backwards and steal the death star plans unless some jedi uses that dang Jedi mind trick to Make him think he was in the past...

  • um, no.

  • No. The SW ships use TLs that use 200GT or more blasts. Most ships will be one shotted.

  • Can't wait to see it when complete.

  • how did you make this

  • it was all made in Lightwave 3D

  • Very well made, even for a rough draft. And more realistic than others as well.
