And for Damn good reason we want to be healthy if you want to poison yourself that's fine go outside or in designated areas and do it. Tax is the only reason it's not illegal. They became too dependent on on the tax that was supposed to be used on health and wasn't. Yes you do have the right to smoke and kill yourself but you don't have the right to kill others with your 2nd hand smoke. That's pretty selfish too if you have a family that loves you and they have to see you suffer through cancer while you are dying. (I pray you and your family do not have to bare that). I have smoked and now don't so I think I'm in a good position to pass judgement. Second hand smoke is unfiltered - more poisonous and cancerous to those who don't smoke. Those who don't smoke should be able to feel comfortable indoors without putting their health at risk because of your unhealthy habit. Should you wish to smoke - do so in the privacy of your home or outdoors where you won't poison others.

I was planning for May a 3 week holiday to Hawaii and all its islands. We are 3 friends who smoke so we decided to cancel that trip and we are going to China. At least we can smoke there and people respect you.

i believe people should have the right to do whatever they want to their own bodies as long as they dont harm others. wether it be something as common as smoking, or something as frowned upon as crystal meth. who gave the lawmakers the right to tell us what we can do to our bodies or what we cannot do? the law is supposed to be there for our safety to prevent us getting hurt by other people, but if we want to ruin our own lives we should have that right. i say these things as a non smoker...

Correct - the myth that secondary smoke causes harm is a front used by some people (to scare others and gain support) who disapprove of a certain pleasure and think they have the right to eradicate it. They don't.

If anything, alchohol and drunk driving is a bigger problem affecting all of us and we don't see beer prices and taxes going up. Politicians know that there would be a bigger uproar over that so "smokers' are often the easy targets.

Remember, during WW II, the Allied leaders all smoked. Churchill liked cigars, Stalin used a pipe and Roosevelt favored a cigarette in a holder. It was Hitler who once said,"Those who don't smoke, follow me."

Great post again. I supported a bill to allow clubs and bars to allow smoking if they posted signs stating and warning that smoking occurs. Then people can decide for themselves.
