Might give it a few years before I even step foot into indonesia. The country that tried to murder and rape the chinese people back in 98. Fortunately there are better paradises to visit despite the higher cost.  I've grown up on an island myself, awesome beaches is nothing new to me.

I'm from America and went to Bali 4 times in 12 months. My last being July 2011. I'm seriously having Bali withdrawals! I never thought when I fell in love with an Indonesian woman I'd also fall in love with the island of Bali!!

I'm no Indonesian, but I've lived in Jakarta for years and I've loved going to Bali on holiday all the time. I've actually been to that InterContinental Bali Resort. I loved Bali.

just got back from bali,1 tip, balinese dance start at 6:00 pm not 7:00 ,go there early about 4:30 and expect traffic jam on your way back to the city.

@jonandpeg Ok, so I did some reading, and while I think the sentence is excessive, I also think that once you enter another country, you have to adopt their rules. A lot of countries are willing to bend, for example, in Egypt tourist women can smoke publicly from hookahs, but Egyptian women can't. The smuggling of drugs is illegal in petty much every country, though. While 20-25 years is a lot, she never should have done what she did.

I actually found Balli very loud at night with blasting music and its one HUGE party.. be prepared during the day to be solicited to buy items no matter where u go.. no rest from soliciters.. every taxi driver is your target to which u will be taken to the many selling spots, cleaverly done. i found every avenue of destination will be accompanied by soliciters that will not leave u alone .. . i say do much preperation and get the ratings on hotels.. prior..

@armbender777 true, especially in the kuta area. if u look touristy u'll get harassed everywhere u go. i'd recommend staying out of kuta generally.

I have been here twice and it was so nice is Bali I also recommend this famous bird park(I forgot the name) and the water park water boom.

I did Venture fourth to Bali and experience many nice things once u traveled the outskirts of Bali as shown in this video... i found loud relentless pop rock music during the night time and even during the day time.. be prepared for congestion entering in Bali, a crowded get away.. I wouldnt go back again but its worth going once .. I suggest going to Lombock an island away from bali..

Bali is the best place to go in Indonesia, because it has a hindu influence, as a result much more friendly and welcoming, compared to other areas, where Muslim consertives are more resentful of tourists and their 'sinful' western lifestyle. No wonder tourists love Bali!

@Bazigor500 well, you can try jakarta, it would be so exciting if you know the places and the safest public transportation (Blue Bird Taxi), well if you talk about 'sinful' western lifestyle, Jakarta is an awesome place for nightlife, lots of nightclub from the high class to the cheap one and also international brand in the shopping centre, if you want to find a beaches bali is the one, but if you want a shopping paradise and clorful nightlife, must try jakarta ENJOY!
