  • I saw this band at the I-Beam on Haight in SF prolly around '83 - they rocked - one of the best nights of my life.

  • only song with nova scotia in it.

  • Your in Nova Scotia but Im not.......great tune

  • Folk rock for the 80's - it's got that jangly, Byrds thing, and a singer that sounds like a cross between Dylan/McGuinn/Petty...I give it a thumbs up!

  • I love Translator, I think they were way underrated

  • @nyfunyun such a smooth amazing voice...hypnotic

  • ...2 dislikes' fluff Ted

  • so perpetual,,,can't shake it from some deja vou

  • 0 dislikes. 'Nuf said.

  • @effilhcnih Well, there's one now. Whoever it is, it's a justinbieber f*cker.

  • "Yeah you're everywhere that I'm not!" x3: Best part of the song.

  • Fuck advertisements

  • WHFS in DC played this and pre-alternative music back in the day.

  • WBRU Providence! Heard from Block Island! Great tune.

  • WLIR played this! I'm still missing that station!

  • Yeah KROQ music from back in the day!

  • The late, great WBCN in Boston played this song all the time. Reminds me of Jonathan Richman, who got a lot of play in Boston in those days too. Back when radio took more chances and focused on music.

  • Actually, I wish some of the members would explain what happened to them? Didn't they just get together for a show at Slim's????

  • Aghhh.... 80's

  • This was on all the time on KJET in Seattle.I still sing it to myself while driving .

  • @PublicJohn what was KJET? I heard this on KYYX 'the wave' Seattle, mid 80s

  • @dougcassidy KJET was on the AM dail at 1600. Much like KYYX in a lot of ways

  • Charlie Sheen at :38 ha ha!

  • They had the songs - but the videos???? Don't think so. Remember the India fiasco that buried them?

  • @pacific707 No, remind us all.

  • @ironbuttermilk From what I've heard thru the SF music grapevine, Columbia/415 shelled out a lot of money for a video for Translator that was filmed in India. It was a very cool video but the album sales slumped and the only thing I ever heard from that day on within my circle of was that the incident hastened the end of the band. I always liked Translator; they were nice guys and our band opened for them and Romeo Void several times. I hope you're ALL reminded now!

  • @pacific707 Was it the "Come With Me" video? It's here on YouTube...

  • the GUILD of guitar craftsmen made some fine instruments (Bo Diddley) . I enjoy my '58 starfire bass every day. all the best, volare'

  • does steve still have that guitar ? more importantly, do you still have that hat ? my cat (and i ) love listening to you guys. we should go to tokyo... they would eat you alive !

  • @cosmocrateroth - yes! I still have that guitar. It's a Guild X-50. It was my first electric guitar. My grandfather gave it to me when I was around 15 or so. It is all over my new album, "Projector". In fact, it's featured in a few shots in the video for "These 4 Walls" from that album. I have posted the video above. Thanks....steve

  • Wow, now that is signing!!!!!

  • College radio, been a loyal fan since the 80's up until now, Translator is my heart & soul... Thank you guys!!

  • simple yet kool !!!!

  • I saw these guys at the Roxy in Hollywood with Romeo Void. what a show.

  • @vma2111 color me jealous!

  • @vma2111 2 of the best bands in history.. so jealous

  • was this shot at the Cafe Du Nord in SF?

  • God,I miss those days .Nostalgie.This was on kroq all da time. They were true arbiters of taste .They played cool stuff. This song WAS A MIOR HIT >DESEVED MORE IT"S A CLASSIC CHEZ MOI !

  • This reminds me of being about 11, and watching MTV right when it came out. This was back in the day when they actually showed music videos :). Low budget yes, but the music was still great. Now on MTV it's about the moronic "Jersey Shore"....sad. Martha Quinn...where are you? :)

  • This one got me back in the day. It doesn't fit most of my taste criteria.

But it's a keeper- haunting. Wish it had been a hit

  • doesn't the lead singer look like Mick Jagger.

  • doesn't the lead singer look like Mick Jagger.

  • kool ol tune of my teens.

  • I used to want hair like that!

  • lmao. ALL videos were low-budget affairs back then. some of us can almost remember. of course, if we CAN remember, then we didn't really live through it.

  • Simply a classic of pop music. Energetic yet detached. Video -- not so much. Looks like a very low-budget affair.

  • It certainly was!
