Hi! Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! I can do you one better! If you search Aine2 here on youtube, you'll see a video on her page where she teaches you how to make tiny little ladybugs. They're adorable! That's how I learned. Once you know how to make them tiny, you know how to make them big. :0)
:) It all depends on how many servings you need and how you want it decorated. Depending on the decoration, it's a different price per slice. Are you in El Paso, Texas?
cute!cute!cute! lady bug cake!!! how did you get so smart? I HAVE JUST BEGUN TO MAKE CAKES AGAIN. I'M SO SCARED OF FONDANT. WOULD YOU PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO COVER A BUTTERCREAM BASED CAKE IN FONDANT? WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR AIRBRUSH AND COLOR FROM? WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR FONDANT? AND LAST WHAT TYPE OF AIRBRUSH DO YOU USE??? I'VE SEARCHED THE NET AND YOU'RE SO HONEST AND FORTHCOMING...LOVE YOUR STYLE.... CINDY
Thanks so much! It's not a matter of being smart. LOL! It's just a matter of practice, practice, practice, and MORE practice. :0) There are many videos here on YOuTube that teach you how to cover cakes with fondant. That's pretty much how I learned. You can buy airbrushes online as well as the airbrush colors. I recommend either KopyKake or AmeriColor brands. They're awesome! I use an IWATA eclipse. I highly recommend it as it is AWESOME! Thanks again Cindy and glad you like my cakes! :0)

I Love it, love it...did I say I love it already? I made my first fondant cake yesterday and its not too bad. Now for next week I need to figure out how to put together a Batman fondant cake for my sons 5th Birthday. I love your batman car but I feel it will be much for my 2nd fondant cake so I probaly need something somewhat more managable. Keep up YOUR awesome work.
Love this cake.. very cute !! I love all the green lol I wanted also to ask you where you buy your satin ice.. and is it really a whole lot better then making it yourself?? thanks!!
That is too funny, Laura! I feel so much better that I am not alone. I too spray in my garage now, with the door open and a fan going full blast! A rainbow of boogies for days. (o: LOL. Oh, the things we do for the love of cake.
Thank you! It really depends on the size and the weight of the elements. The ladybugs on the side of this cake are really little and hardly weighed anything so toothpicks weren't necessary. But like for example on some cakes like the ones that have giant mickey mouse heads, I did use toothpicks on those. :)
That is so cute Laura. Let me ask you something...I spray my cakes occassionally, but it gets everywhere! I use a back drop but I still will get color all over, even in my nose! Does that ahppen to you? Do you have a trick? I would much rather spray ever time. Would save me tons of time, but hate the mess. Would love your thoughts...thanks, Lisa from Florida
Hi and thanks! Yes, this happens all the time. I used to spray in the house with a backdrop but it still got everywhere. Now I spray in the garage with the garage door open and the air cranked up so the spray is forced out. My garage is all blue and green! LOL! It still gets in my nose. I usually blow my nose and it's blue or green for like two days! Gross! LOL! :)
Hi! Sure! I purchase them on ebay and buy them in bulk. :) Tons of people sell them. Just be sure to purchase them within the same country or else the shipping will be rediculous. :)
I so totally love this cake Laura! I am going to have to make lady bugs too when my hand can handle the gum paste again. These are too sweet:) I love the wacky way you did the eyes:D
Hi laura. do you make your own mm fondant ??, i am thingking about trying to make it, but i am wondering if you can do it in a kitchen aid machine ??. My hands are not that strong becourse of rheumatoid arthritis, so it wpuld be a big help to do it on the machine..
Thanks Christina! Yes, for the most part you should be able to do the majority of the work in a Kitchen Aid mixer. Have you seen Mayen's video tutorials on how to make homemade MMF? She is on my friends list and I would recommend you watch her videos because they are VERY helpful. :) She does most of the work in a mixer. :) Hope this helps! :)
hey really nice cake pretty ladybugs. keep up the hard work . i have one questions where can i find the really fat straws can you please let me know where can i get the at please let me know.
Hi and thanks! Yes, you can purchase the fat boba straws on ebay. I buy them in bulk. Usually a box of 500 is only about $30. Super inexpensive. Just get on ebay and search for fat boba straws. Tons of people sell them. :)
Hey gurl! very very cute...i love the colour of the cake, its such a rich green, unlike my hand rolled MMF green cake... need to get the airbrush!! Keep Caking!! xxx
Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong when I mix my vodka and black gell color. It is separating into its base colors. Too much vodka? It just turned into a green mess :( I'm using wilton gel color.
Thanks! Yes, if it turns a deep green then it's a little too much vodka. Try first adding about a dime size blob of the black color and then just two drops of vodka. It shouldn't be runny or too liquidy. More like mascara consistancy. :)
