  • despite the discovery-american propaganda....this documentary have like 10 years old at least...I remember seen several years ago...now T90.... leopard 2A7for expample does exist ;)

  • @patrikasLTL

well thats why there is such thing called the wolveriene (heavy assault bridge) and pontoon bridges the only advantage the russians have is that they have more tanks than the us and europe combined

  • just looking at it seems like loading the challenger is pretty awkward because it's not just one smooth motion

  • 2:52 "the challenger has a diesel engine, its less powerful than the gas turbine engine of its' american counterpart but its transmission and hydropneumatic suspension allow it to travel just as fast"

yh thats all true but what they didnt state was "and without the need of a 5 truck escort for fuel"

  • @nikobrown1990 And a lower tenancy to burst into flames as diesel has a higher flash point. Same problem the Sherman had decades ago.

  • 'bloody smoke'

  • i want one!

  • @patrikasLTL big woop, want a war about it?

  • @patrikasLTL Yea dude, everyone knows Russia is the strongest!!!111

Give it a rest already. Russia's MBT is a small update on the 40 year old T-72, called the T-90. It has very little of the modern technology used by modern NATO tanks.

  • How many crewmen are on the Challenger? I thought it had an auto loader but I see the loader what seems to be a 2 peice canister round.

  • @ottoramsaig They have a loader

  • 1:19 not bad

  • leopard <3!

  • the challenger 1 was decommissioned 2 years before the A2s commission... bit of an odd comparison, but the challenger 1 was probably a sound contender

  • they should make a semi automatic tank gun lol like three round burst fire

    so much destruction !!!

leopards on the prowl in their natural enviroment at 9:24 lol

  • Does anyone know were I can buy this series on dvd?

  • However one problem a deisel engine has is that it is very noisy so the enemy knows you are coming.

  • well, tanks aren't really made for sneaking, are they?

  • Well they could if there were an actual way to combine the power of a deisel engine, yet be as quiet as a turbine gas engine. But unfortunately we don't have that kind of technology yet.

  • @greatsharkman

i think people would see you comming before they hear you

  • @nutterforever to be honest I'd rather be loud than have a gas turbine. Yes, during the day they know a diesel is coming, but at night a diesel can be fairly well shrouded. The gas turbine's heat signature is visible from space (literally).

I don't know why something like a wankel isn't used...they're mounting one now on new -A2s as an APU, but a wankel is, performance wise, a direct compromise between a diesel and a turbine, with regular exhaust.

oh--4:21 is a reference to budget cuts y'know

  • @dvdprui ahh yes another plus for the challenger btw not only is the heat signture is visable it comes from the back so if somone fires a heat seeker at u it will hit the back were the engine is witch is the works case senario :/

  • The LEO 2A6 is better I think. I dont like the sound of the A1, sounds like an airplane due to its gas turbine. Diesel engines are better and more reliable. uses less fuel too.

  • They are also twice the weight, twice the volume, half the horse power, and only runs on diesel fuel.

For the turbine, the lower weight means more armor; lower volume means a smaller tank and weight/armor savings; and more horsepower means faster. The ability to use gasoline, diesel, or aviation fuel means easier supply.

Reliabilty is about equal. Turbines operate at higher temperatures, but have far fewer part to break. Being smaller, they are easier to replace.

    It's a trade off.

  • do british tanks have steering wheel on the right?

  • In the centre

  • Yeah the abrams is better suited to open field warfare

  • "What is the BLOODY smoke?" LOL

  • see those words in the upper right side that says "discovery channel" ?

yea they are known for crazy propaganda!

  • "It can go from 30mph to a full stop in 10 feet..." Yeah right! What a liar! Anyone can calculate that this means deceleration of about 3g which is impossible. Abrams and Leo2 brake at about 0.5g (Leclerc 0.7g). So it can stop from 30mph in about 60 feet...

  • 30mph to full stop in 60 feet? i think your calculation is way off.

  • Lol man...mb it can stop... why not??? u got there few meter's of track on the road, and those tracks are like tires...so it may be able to grip so thight...but on the cross country it's another story

  • It boils down to: a trillion-dollar-plus-yearly budget for warmaking makes war too profitable & necessary to ever be phased-out; Peace is bad for busisness, especially to nations addicted to the MIC. A trillion-dollars-plus-yearly budget for peace would distribute resources more reasonably & make crucial improvements for many millions of people, but war-industry profits would dry-up -- so it will never be practical or feasable. Modern Warfare is the triumph of technology over reason & humanity.

  • hey whats the coexial on da challenger? the 240 or the saw?

  • Most likely 240. SAW stands for Squad Automatic Weapon. The Abrams uses a 240 coaxial and pintle the Leo 2 uses MG3 coaxial and pintle the T90 uses a PKT coaxial and no pintle.

  • L94A1 EX-34 7.62 mm chain gun

  • I was in the Regiment featured using Challenger 1 it was filmed back in 96 in Wales the regiment was the Queens Royal Hussars

  • anyone know the name of the background soundtracks used in the program (assuming they're from the same artist) - particularly the bit starting at 7:20 ??

  • when did this episode come out? its showcasing old challenger 1's

  • that's why it is an exercise all mistakes are to be checked and upon review are expected to not happen again.

  • tut tut loader should have had his bonedome on especially when being filmed for a tv programme!!!!

  • You talk like you know a shit lot...

  • lol, your cool, thier content loser, and they are comunicating like a team on a real battlefield not using set in stone commands like they do while in training in order to make sure they get through the trials, and learn how to spell or use readable slang to.
