  • How much different does your car behave since you got the new heads and cams (I've considered getting them myself).

  • @jpadilla05 in this vid there was only stcok manifold, have since added a trick track heat manifold and SLP long tubes and other minor mods, best run 345wrhp/316wrtq on a mustang dyno.All Naturally Aspirated.

  • @cruzito901 i cammed my v6 and i really want a gt now but coming from the v6 guy...let me say this...pull the engine make it easier on ur self lol ....on my ohv v6 i had to remove the hole top end (i had a bad gasket to begine with lol) remove timing cover and gears pull cam out put new in then go from bottom up

  • Also what about the roller rockers, I notice the heads dont come with them along with like 2 other parts. Were you able to reuse the ones from stock heads? What all did you have to do to the heads before they popped on? Sorry so many questions man I want this set up and unfortunately not many ppl have it.

  • @cmitch69kg I have the 38 cc's and thee roller rockers were reused from the old heads. Wear and tear was at minimum. I was on a budget build here. as for the forum commentor; I would agree with a custom grind for the cams as a better opt, but like I said before I was on a save cost build. Custom grinds are more expensive and I got the comps for cheap. The other part about the lower bottom end is void. The purpose was a descent N/A car. The bottom end is well withing its parameters..

  • @sick2v Did you degree the cams? I read an article on a build just like what you did and it didn't look like they did. I was gonna do it just to be safe but do you even have to with these heads and cams?

  • @cmitch69kg ...if later down the line you were to go F/I or a high compression motor then yes you'd beef up internals. And for the intake manifold...flow ristrictions with stockmanifold are very apparrent. The new manifold adds peaks not just in the high rpms but the lower as well. I know because I ran both scenarios, point blank. You'll be happy with your build with what you have listed.For good numbers youll need 24lb injectors and a tuner who knows what their doing...

Your car sounds sick, I can't wait till mine sounds like that I'll post the vid when it happens. Got 2 more questions though, I have borla stingers and I'm sure you know that at idle they are very quiet but at high rpm's the scream. Do you think the lope at idle will be noticeable with the borla's? Also you did not have to swap in stiffer springs for the comps right?

  • @cmitch69kg Stingers are a good choice. I don't see idle lope being a problem as the cams are aggressive ontheir own. Are you going with an xpipe or h? long tube keep raspiness of the xpipe down and end result is a nice throaty deep tone. in this vid I didnt have long tubes, explains raspiness. After inspection I retained my stock springs, they provided perfect clearance, anything larger in lope would need notched valves.

  • @sick2v Yea I have the BBK off road x pipe. Ok so my set up sounds like it will be perfect for what im looking for. I want a mean N/A street car because everyone and there mom is supercharged (nothing wrong with this i'm just an all motor guy even though s/c is a cost efficient way to get 400 to the wheels). But I am getting the fully assembled TFS heads with springs, I pretty sure they will work with no issues. Thanks again man

  • Hey man got a couple of questions because I am doing this exact set up. Got the comp 270s and saving up for the 38cc's and got all the bolt ons (long tubes, CAI, 3.73's, U/D pulleys etc). Ok so some guy has your dyno vid on a forum and says it is a classic example of what not to do with trickflow heads. He said with a stock bottom end, it's best to get a custom cam, and use the stock intake manifold with these heads to make the most power do you agree with this? Stiffer springs with 270's?

  • @jakeybobby1234 On contrary homie...there was little if none. This video is an older one and stock intake manifold was present. Throttle was more responsive and no lagging. Even after a new intake manifold and long tube headers flow test indicate the MAF sensor was near pegging but well with in parameters and not wanting in the "vacuum" department. Maybe if you'd ask instead of firing prematurely you wouldn't look so stupid.

  • sick car man, I was thinking about going this route with my car...or just putting a vortech on it. Would love to make 340rwhp N/A though - which heads did you go with the 38cc or 44cc? Were the heads direct bolt on, or did they require additional machining?

  • @gerrrg281 I went with a 38cc and no additional machining was needed. They came dressed(valves, springs etc.) Lift is at .550 so if you go with a larger cam(above .500) then you'd have to invest in another set of springs. Other than that its simple drop and replace, save for timing the cams...lol

  • @sick2v Don't you think it was a tad too early to go trickflow heads? Heard they make power a tad late when close to stock.

  • @Texarmageddon not sure by what you mean by making power late...but this setup was a transition point and only lasted a few months well I got other items together. As is in the video the setup did provide good power at low rpm's and high dividends were at higher rpm's. But when you open the air airways etc trickflow intake manifold, longn tube headers and a tuner that knows what their doing...then power is at all rpms. Hope that was near your question.

  • @sick2v From what i hear.. most people note they feel the power, but they don't push it any farther due to the weak valvetrain/ bottom end. I can't really say much, just a lot of talk about how don't buy them unless you plan on going boosted. there's a lot ' I know what im talking about people' and then there are very few I actually own this part people. I just wanted to gather a little more info from someone who actually own this pair of heads.

  • @tremdaddyflex they are very raspy in this setup. Since then added a set of long tubes and re-tuned and raspiness is gone and deep throaty tone is in.

  • the 06 GTO ya lined up yet ?? 6.0 with the 6 speed? im american made all the way i own a 64 ford fairlane little 289 3 speed i dont run it i just jog around time to time once the mustang went to the 2 it lost the fox body and s95 thing was ok but they definitely havent done anything yet the challenger is the best car retro wise...... i drive a 84 buick from time to time just to feel needed!!!!!

  • @SoCalJohnston just fill in the holes with fiber glass and sand what's not level just skim it with some filler just make sure u dont go to thick with your filler or it will crack out over time

    do you have a new TB or intake plenum??? because with that set up after a tune if i did the math it would be around 380 but i could be wrong

  • Sick man, im in the process of building a 95 Thunderbird, supercharged forged 4.6L going with these cams as well, sounds mean, and those LS1 boys can have those cheaply designed F-Bodys, I was a GM tech and had to work on those POSs and when I bought my first 4.6L Stang I was in love, and will never look back!!

    I also have respect for all car lovers, as I have a 95 LT1 6spd for my work car with videos on here, owned a 99 Firehawk #431, but im a huge ford fan, and have had alot of mustangs, currently no stangs, just my 65 falcon and my 95 T-Bird 4.6L for cars, but its gunna take alot more than just a lightwieght bolt on LS1 to beat my 2 ton forged 4.6L Thunderchicken, ive heard it all from chevy boys, but heres my thing "Camaros suck, Corvettes suck more" LOL :)

  • @1984StangV8 yup 4v for life!!!! my boy has 99 ls1 full bolt ons on DR's he ran a 13.44 i ran a 13.40 with street tires and intake and exhaust. and i beat some other guy with a stock gto ls2. now my 01 cobra is blown only one c5 z06 under my belt so far, no other takers yet. its like they know i'm blown now.

  • Actually your wrong.. Gt with cams, tb plenum intake exhaust and tune with some suspension and slicks ran high 11... So your wrong about it runnin 12.5 best maybe some people just don't know how to drive

  • @sick2v full bolton ls1 cars run low 11s. that car wont run any better than a 12.50 on its best day. i have a gt i know how they respon to boltons and i know how they respond to head swaps and cams and its not worth a damn. sorry just the life of a 2v. you can make it a 450 hp stroker motor and thats about as much power as they will ever make N/A. my point is for what you spent on the heads you could have done a 5.4 swap. or a ls1 lol

  • Hey man I got a 02 GT and want to install some cams, I dont wanna empty my wallet and would like to do little to no mods or changing of stock parts, can you do that with these cams? I havent done too much research yet. I do have the new SCT tuner, SLP LM1's, and intake. Thanks man sounds sick!!!

  • @88MUSTANGGT88 If your asking if you can perform a simple drop in with these cams then yes you could.I'd recommend atleast dropping a new set of valve springs with the cams tho. Depending on mileage, the stock springs might not provide enough valve clearance with the new cams.

    As for price..depends if you are a self doer or taking it to the shop. Cams install definetly not a novice job. Make sure you get a confident mech. End result is a mean rumble and worth it. Good luck guy!

  • @sick2v yes i def would recommend putting valve springs in bc i just installed these cams in my mustang with 50k miles and broke a valve spring and rocker arm but luckily i didnt drop the valve

  • @suppratwin A cold start is when you start the engine and its not been warmed up yet. The valves in the cylinder head expand when heated and contarct when not, as do all medals. So engineers have figured this in when designing engines. Some valves dont seat in all the way until they warm up and expand. When seated, allowing for no air to escape between the valve and seat, the engine runs better.

  • As for numbers did 7 passes and hit a best 13.1 in the quarter with 315/street tires. All was done without a tune and stock injectors. After installition I got word of recall back active duty and now deployed. Never got to dyno before I jet but, obvisiously, on my to do list when I get back! I'll post then but will be awhile.

  • I've been away from internet access for a while and haven't logged on, so my apologies on the replies. I've received alot of mail and comments on the horse power gains and other data. But I'm sorry to inform all that I've been deployed (military wise) and never got to dyno my girl before i left. And wont be able to do so for a couple of further months. Will post new #'s when I get back!
