Never understood that. They used similar tags to describe EarthBound as well (it's even in Ness's trophy in Melee), but it's not terribly accurate.

I guess the characters DO have the wisdom and guts ("courage") stats, but what about "friendship"?

The theme of friendship seems to be in the games, but the characters don't exactly use it to fight people.

I guess I just didn't think of it that way. But the "wisdom" and "courage" bits still don't make much sense.

Yes, I suppose the characters must have courage to overcome enemies and obstacles, but what about wisdom? The only place I can think of where "wisdom" is ever a factor is, as I said before, the stat of the same name. Such a tiny element in the game to be pointing out in an ad.

@TBustah Well, I guess that up to interpretation but I myself would say, that wisdom is essential because it enables you to use your powers and knowledge to its fullest. So it certainly is necessary to defeat evil alien overlords :P But thats just me.

This game is fucking grindan everywhere though, but it's a Mother game and it's still has it's charm in where all the leveling up is worth overlooking.

I played this by myself, and I took a few weeks to beat it. It has been one of the best gaming experiences EVER. This game has honestly shown little aging, in my opinion.

Every game director/head developer needs to release a preview like this. It'd sure gives a lot more perspective to a video game than every other FPS that looks like some idiotic mega-macho "epic" trailer with a Carmina Burana-like song playing in the background.

When you just type in a games name on youtube, things already get spoiled for you, like final bosses. now, i knew what mothers final boss was, i knew earthbounds final boss, and mothers 3 final boss (and who he was) before i even started playing the game. I actually knew how to fight mothers final boss, earthbounds final boss (even though the second half of the battle i believed it didnt work until i started trying again) and mother 3s final boss (however, that wasnt hard to figure out)

I think the MOTHER series is one of the few games that each sequel got BETTER than its prequel in every single way. Nobody in their right mind will say Mother 1 (Earthbound Zero) is better than Mother 3. But what makes these games so fun to play, even the original, is that they make you feel for the characters, the world, and everything about it. Very few games get to me like that. Itoi is a genius among men.

Not at all. Everyone has different tastes. Mother 1 is hard so I never really got around to playing it too much. Yet Mother 2 will always share a place in my heart for opening up my eyes to a very well written video game. And as for Mother 3, it's like a mix between both to me. But I ramble, your not insane.

Its interesting to note the differences between the version shown in the preview and the actual game. Magicant looks like it got the biggest makeover.

I have to admit, everytime I played the game, I rushed through t, without taking the time to talk to people or explore or anything, not to mention I used "outside help". Maybe I'll play it again like Itoi said he would. But maybe I'll wait for the Mother 1+2 translation.

Don't rush the game, play at your own pace. Talk to everyone in the game, explore the areas. Itoi's mind and my mind are kinda alike. I'm happy that there's someone who shares the same feelings as me.

It's funny, because one can actually "fast-forward" the game using modern emulation if they were to play it... which my brother uses in RPGs. A lot.

Then again, we've both played this game SO many times on the original system... but even I don't fast-forward when playing it using emulation (I don't own a Super Nintendo anymore; just the game). I still play it with friends from time to time. The feeling is starting to match the first feeling when I played this game. :)

Awesome! Now it has subtitles.  I like the way he worked in the study comment at the end, which was also in Mother :) He looks different now, his hair is spikier, and he actually looks younger in a way.

I agree. He looks much more professional in this video. BTW, I only "fast-forward" when I'm levelling up, and normal when exploring areas or going through plot progression.
