  • Aren't u considered about security?

Some servers have serious security holes..

Someone could put ur lights on when ur not home and make u big electricitybill.. :/

  • I'm not really that concerned about security no. I make my own programs, so any security hole is my own:)

  • I really like ur projects... but 2 questions: 1) how much power is the whole equipment use? 2) can u contrll all the lights in the apartment over the PDA? if yes... is it over WAP or Bluetooth or anythign else?

  • 1) The system uses around 20W in idle mode, if a alarm is active or something it's a little higher. The apartment lights does not draw power from the Rack, it has it's own power supply or runs on 220V.

    2) Yes you can, the system runs on a linux server with webserver. On the servers paralell port is a I/O module, using PHP one can execute shell commands that changes the status of the I/O module. Using WAP one can access this controll webpage from a cell phone, or a PDA.

  • Nice. This vid gives a lil bit more information. ^^

  • Yeah:) You can find more information at www.avrprojects.no, look under user projects.
