  • this was a baaaadasss album..

  • This entire album is pure genius...

  • Sleep is the best song on the album

  • :-)

  • why is a video on the suggestion bar the bunk bed sceen from step brothers

  • reminds movie La Haine

  • Sad story. the music really helped with Redford's story. It really provokes thought. Hopefully, change.

  • mystifying

  • I love The Roots. I love Rap. I love Hip Hop Culture. I love Black people. But it was difficult for me to connect with anything in this video other than the quotes. There was nothing new here. We know the cycle. We know the transformation. We know that black males aren't born criminals and that only a few evolve into them. This video didn't introduce anything new to the dialogue. Stylistically, it's beautiful. But thematically it's like hundreds of other documents that came before.

  • @jabariadisa I agree and I disagree... this album does have a lot of the typical elements of the urban, low-means struggle... but the execution is what sets it apart. In addition to an incredible musical performance/immaculate production, Black Thought's lyrics really empathize with Redford's character. Every verse on this album helps you to see/feel things directly from Redford's point of view (as opposed to objectively commenting on it from the third person)

  • And i normally hate rap. Thank you Roots for making rap that actually make you think and feel something; instead of BTCHES WEED GUNS BITCHES BITCHES MORE WEEK AND THEN GOLD TEETH.

  • GREAT ALBUM!! One of my faves by the Roots crew!!

  • whats the name of the first song?

  • @Elit3sk0t "Tip the Scale." the song titles come after (i don't know why lol).

  • The amount of views this has in comparison to Vevo bullshit has made me lose faith in humanity, its good music its artistic, its original, tells a story, emotional and these dumb asses STILL WANT BITCHES HOES, GOLD, MONEY, CARS, AHHHH FUCK ALL YOU GUYS!! I'd rather bump some CL Smooth or Roots, then I ever would Waka Floka or Lil Wayne!

  • How are there only 37k views on this in a month?!?!? A LOT of people don't know...

  • This is some of the most refreshing, unique shit i've heard in a while. Thank you, Ahmir and the Roots Crew! I'm listening to this over and over and over again!

  • there's something about these songs that makes me feel like they've existed for so long. they sounded familiar to me as soon as I heard them.

  • Such subtle, tiny sounds. I like them.

  • Just got the album today it was the last day best buy would have and I got a ?uestlove shirt WELL DONE Roots

  • soooooo doooopppppeeeee!!!!!

  • damn that one song was better when lil waynes whole CD

  • was this fan made?

  • @iBomb24 noohohoho

  • @iBomb24 No. The Roots hired a production crew to film 4 shorts and then they put them all together.

  • wow wow !, i have not bought a album in 2 years this will be my gift to me classic !

  • Lil Wayne 20 years from now at 1:20.

  • @eforce1200 LOLOLOL wrd i see it!

  • read my review here...

    allsoundsmusic.blogspot.com/2011/12/roots-undun-short-film.html

  • I was going to type some negative reply about them being from Philly but always filming their video's in other cities. But then I realized that you'd be hard pressed to find too many blocks left in Philly that look like they did in the 90's (when this is supposed to took place) and that I guess you'd have to go to other cities to find that level of grime.

  • I keep coming back here. Long Live The Roots!

  • RAIZ!

  • ***THRONE***

  • BRAVO!

  • When its all said and done the Roots will go down as one of the most innovative, creative groups not only in hip-hop but music. This illustrates it. They are constantly pushing the limits, uniquely tapping into new ideas.

  • Very well thought out and put together. amazing project.

  • Malik Bfrom The Roots” should have been on this album. The concept of this album is similar to “Malik B's” mix tape classic "Street Assault" and his classic never really heard single” Mob Ties" “Malik B” understands the streets as well as the underworld of artist struggling and trying to maintain with in a artsy social net of people. This is a good album. I recommend this album and also I recommend you get “Mob Ties” from Roots member “Malik B”. Itunes

  • @meiphukingdiqq Ok but what does that have to do with him as far as having a new rap cut and being a hip hop emcee\rapper. Nothing! It's called the recording business. And it's his voce that's needed. If you like it or want to check him cool! If not don't listen to his new cut. Just my point of view. But thanks for responding.

  • "Kick in the door, like, 'welcome to my world.'"

  • brother

  • that's his baby mom's<3

  • I know the Roots and other such hip hop acts never left but recently, i'm feeling that true hip hop is coming back around...dont know what it is but i like it!!

  • @NastyEsco73

True hip hop is always, just not in the mainstream. The Roots have been around forever.

  • @NastyEsco73 I agree. I been thinking the same.

  • @NastyEsco73 this is the roots 13th album bro. hip hop never left, just most of the following. its there when you look for it

  • @backtothebeat4 i know that i've got all of them lolol. it's just as though the hip hop artists who seemed to disappear underground since 2000 are beginning to up their game again.

Anyway, Undun is pure fire! 2012 should be epic, so many exciting releases coming up!!!

  • @NastyEsco73

in that you are right my friend

  • @NastyEsco73 "True hip-hop" as you call it, has never gone anywhere except underground. Where it has stayed "true' beyond anything else, and remains untouched by the mainstream filth that litters the radio waves.

  • @stevegvoss i understand that. what i mean is that these said artists are beginning to step it up again. i feel they are making an effort to project their music to a wider audience, rather than continue to sit back and allow the "filth" to manifest. it probably has something to do with the economic situation at the moment. people are far more willing to listen and appreciate hip hop's message than they were throughout the noughties....

  • @NastyEsco73 Its sounds different too

  • @NastyEsco73 I'm not here to promote, I'm just trying to help prove your point. Please take some time to listen to the one song have posted so far.

  • @NastyEsco73 yah man im feelin it might still be a while but hip hop is takin bac its rightful seat

  • So dope...

  • AT 1:22 LIL WAYNE

  • PAUSE AT 0:22 LIL WAYNE IS IN THE ROOT'S VIDEO

  • 1:23 lil wayne LOL!

  • la haine style

  • Powerful lyrics, legendary new album!

  • What street was this shot on @ 2:25 ?

    Nice effects !

  • tooooo dopeee.
