are the 1ghz and up eMacs still decent machines? Are they still good? because they go very cheap on eBay, and I've never owned a mac before. I just want to try one out. I don't want a complete piece of crap, but i don't want to spend all my money on a new one.
yh there great, still very fast for the price and excellent for general computing ie listening to music, word processing, web browsing etc and maybe a bit of ilife/photoshop
how well does the mac mini run the DVD player feature s it needs a 1.6 ghz cpu and core solo is 1.5ghz. My mac mini is an upgraded 2.33ghz 2GB ram 160GB hard drive with a super drive it runs awesome
eMacs are supposed to be for education.

They work with leopard and can still do some things but if you want a realy fast mac than you have to buy a intel mac.

You could use an eMac with Tiger, and it works great.

eMac did very well... I own one at work since August 2004 and it never failed... just once decided to reinstall after a bad update to Tiger 10.4.
Now I am tempted to try it out with Leopard. Just a bit afraid it will get sluggish, but from your video it seems to do fine.

eMacs are solid computers: i think Apple made a mistake by stopping their sales. Besides, that design is classic, and I still think it looks great!

@mustangman442002 yeah, and especially for education and students.
think... a cart of 23 macbooks that wear down fast and cost $999 each
$999x32 ~ $32,000
while an emac has fewer moving parts and is great for a class env. - $699 each
$699x32 ~ $22,400
A savings of $19,000 because the eMacs will last twice as long!!!!!

What mods were you doing to your Mac mini?
I noticed that the top cover was taken off and you forgot to plug in the fan controller.
