  • Im smiling before its even started cause I know its gonig to be funny

  • quality

  • Ironically, today people might actually know about the Kyber Pass :)

  • From the two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise to fucking Lee Nelson and James Corden....WHY GOD WHY?

  • Miss their Christmas specials !

  • Very funny . Kyber "pass". Hah!

  • the smartest infant i ever knew :)

  • it would be great if all contestents on mastermind were like eric and ern.

  • Little bopeep has lost her ?

    cardogan

    no lost sheep

    do we got wool sheep?

    correct

    put one down for me

  • Mr. McManus, I'll never watch you wrestle again!

  • ........it's the kyber what?

    Pass

    Correct

  • Eric: This isn't a Bingo hall, is it, sir?

    Magnus: Too right.

Eric: Two right, that's five altogether, put 'em up!

  • *Cough* ARSENAL...... I wonder if this was the inspiration for the cheating major in WWTBAM ??

  • Brilliant!

  • LOL

    "two right that's 5 altogether"

    Brilliant.

  • correct without Morecambe this wouldn't have really worked

it just is so funny i love it!

  • People need to realise that Morecambe was only funny because he had Wise there.

Double Acts never work well separately. ;D

  • *cough* ARSENAL!!!

  • @MurphyMonster i laugh every time they do that

  • Wow, this totally made me laugh. "little bo peep has lost her....what?", "her cardigan", "wrong answer, her sheep", "yes, but cardigans are made of wool arnt they?, and where do we get wool from?" , "from sheep", "well there you go then i got it right" lol.

  • Lol at the end

I'll never watch you wrestle again!

  • this was good but the two ronnies' version of mastermind had me in complete stitches.

  • Love this and love them. :)

  • 6 people feel cheated like Ernie Wise...

    This is classic stuff

    *cough* ARSENAL

  • this is nice but the two ronnies just smashed this.

  • I'm laughing more than I ever did ; after thiry years or more? Yes, genuises.

  • i may be 25 but this is still the funniest comedy duo ever for me

  • I'm feeling old is that really 1974, I was 16 at the time. They were the greatest I grew up with them. I miss them so much, they were my younger years. In my school years and teens, they brought happiness into our lives, there is on one around like them now, Magnus was great sadly gone too. 3 of a kind, brilliant sketch, who could do it today?

  • the 6 people who disliked this video have no taste in homour at all.

  • "Mr McManus, i'll never watch you wrestle again" - and he's the straight man.

  • ahahahahahahaha haaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaa

  • Mr. Macmanus lol

  • Haha! This is amazing! :D x

  • Great to see this again. They were one of a kind. Or is that two of a kind? Put down three altogether.

  • Absolute genius

  • "Put another one up for me."

    These guys were truly geniuses.

  • "This isn't a bingo hall, is it, sir?"

    "Too right."

    "Two right, that's five altogether."

    ROFLMAO!!!

  • Cough

    ARSENAL

    lmao.

  • fantatsic

  • Comedy genius.

  • lolz

  • lol! :L

  • Brilliant!

  • they are brilliant but they didn't write their own material- eddie brabern did and other wrote additional martial. When they switched writers the quality of their show dropped. Mr Braburn should get some kudos for the wonderful scripts.

  • why does he shout arsenal when ernie coughs

  • @walkercrew666

It was a running gag started when Ernie played someone called Mr Memory who couldn't remember anything unless Eric told him.

They have used the gag where Eric coughs while saying 'Arsenal' numerous times. :)

  • Speaking of dark Sundays and music reminding you of school the next day...mine was the Antiques Road Show.

    M and W genius

  • Two Right. That's five altogether.

  • Love It !!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can anyone not like that skit? That was awesome !!! I could watch these 2 gentlemen all day long

  • Still funny after all these years.

  • They didn't write their own material. They were comedic geniuses, but their material was written originally by Eddie Braben (alone, which makes him a genius too imho) and later by, amongst others, Barry Cryer.

  • This is a rotten game! XD genius

  • Hate the theme tune to mastermind, reminds me of dark sunday evenings (probably in January)with the dreadful feeling of school the next day.

  • @enryb if your just going to be rude there's no point in commenting Eric and Ernie were masters of comedy and I for one apreciate their lack of vulgarity and their cleverness for writing all of their own material

  • Does anybody know a song with a line it "the sun's gonna shine on you baby 'til I see you again"?

  • pass! correct!!

  • Ahahahahaha! He IS a mastermind!! XDD x

  • Ernie's line at the end..."Mr Macmanison I'll never watch you wrestle again" hahahaha

  • Yes. This is a reference to Mick McManus who was a professional wrestler in the '70s.

  • ... and so easily confused with the Mastermind host Magnus Magnusson.

  • i wasn't expecting that little bit right in the end, that made me laugh, lmao!

  • @andyf2280 I know its a while since you commented but, I remember every Saturday watching the wrestling with my granddad, AND OF COURSE Mick McManus!!Wonderful memories, not just of Eric and Ernie - ARSENAL!!! incidentally my fave team!! Merry Xmas!

  • Mick McManus.. i remember him well :) ..

Do you remember "Cry Baby" :) .. or the legendary Les?:):)

  • No, but I do remember Big Daddy. Mick MacManus had an infamous reputation for going for the ears . He was always the ''baddy'', whereas Big Daddy was friendly to all the kids. You just waited for the moment when he threw himself on his opponent. Never missed that hours wrestling on Sats. bye! Happy New Year!

  • Oh Yes!! :) .. Big Daddy was everyones favourite .. who can forget those clashes with Giant Haystacks?:):)

I used to watch wrestling regularly at The Spa ( 3B'S if i remember correctly) in Bridlington .. and St Georges Hall in Bradford :) ..

  • When i was a nipper .. i had a friend called Paul Marino who lived on our street ..

Pauls father was Frank Marino .. brother of Mike Marino ..

Mike was a hero of mine .. you should have seen my face when he walked onto the street one day :):)

  • You must be reading my mind. I was trying to remember a BIG wrestler with a BIG beard, and used to do tv show as well? Robin Hood? Not sure - But, it was Giant Haystacks I was trying to remember! Also a big favourite. And I just rem the name of Mike Marino - its so good when someone like yourself helps trigger all those lovely memories of years ago - oops, showing my age!

  • Showing your age?? .. you can't be older than me .. and i am 23ish :) .. okay .. so it is a very big ish lolol :):):)

Can you remember the MC? .. and those immortal words"Good Evening Grapple Fans"?:):)

Ps .. i remember once walking in to the pub owned by Jim Breaks ..

He shook my hand .. and i was painfully reminded about why that handshake was famous lolol :):)

  • Thats right, Jim Breaks - very apt name. You remember a lot more than me!

  • They are all fond memories for me .. i was a very big fan of the grapple scene ..

It was a sad time when american wrestling started to take over .. and it all happened so quick :( ..

  • Of course I agree with you - these are all memories of the '''good old days'' of the 70's. However, my son was for a while obssessed with WWE and I did become a fan of ''The Undertaker!''

  • Let me guess .. your son was a fan of mm?? .. Rowdy Roddy Piper .. or was it Bret "The Hitman" Hart? ..

We could talk for ages on this subject lolol :) ..

My favourites were of course "The Undertaker" ( i saw him recently on tv) .. and "The Heartbreak kid" Shaun Micheals :):)

  • No, His fav was Undertaker, followed closely by Battista,Edge and HHH. I spoe he still likes them, but as hes in his room hours as per every teenager, I dont know exactly what hes watching on telly and comp - dread to think!

My granddad also like the football odf course, and you could hear him swearing at the telly (the ref )on a Sunday afternoon. Nan would hide in the kitchen to escape. He took me to a game at Leyton Orient when I was 7ish.All I rem was that it was cold and that they lost.

  • Milvern Strret School . . Infants. Gets me every time!

  • another fantastic sketch from Eric and Ernie... genious!!!!!

  • very good but I prefer the two ronnies mastermind sketch!

  • Genius- so funny

  • Brilliant sketch! Morecambe and Wise are very sadly missed, a great double act, they will never ever be forgotten.

  • (cough) ARSNOAL!

  • Is it not Arsenal?

  • Sorry, Mispelled! LOL!

  • It is Arsenal, but Wise did a routine where he would (accidentally) cough, and Morecambe had a tick where he would always answer "Arsenal!"

  • Do you not think i know that.

I was commenting on the spelling

  • MrGorillaApe, thanks for the timely reply. Now it makes me want to see old episodes of the actual program-it sounds pretty good.

Then again-nearly anything is better than the sudden obsession with Reality TV.

  • I totally agree with you regarding this reality tv crap .. it has gone way overboard!!

  • This was Brill! I'm glad this is the 1st I've ever seen of thiers.

So having said that-is 'Mastermind' always a comedy skit for a particular program (like in the US Rosanna Rosanadanna was a skit Gilda Radner-sorry if I spelled it all completely wrong I'm horribly dyslexic-did for Saturday Night Live, when it was in it's hey day?

Or was it a legitimate question/answer game show & they sporadically did little parodies of themselves?

Thank you in advance to anyone that can tell me.

  • Mastermind was a very long running legitimate quiz, first show from 1972 to 1997, with the quiz master Magnus Magnusson, who is shown in this clip.

In the real show, there were two rounds, the first round comprised of questions on a specific subject chosen by the contestant. This subject could be quite obscure, such as "Christianity 30-150 AD", and the second round would be general knowledge, but again quite hard questions.

It was revived in 2003, but unfortunately without Magnus Magnusson.

  • I remember when Magnus announced his retirement .. it hit all the headlines .. Magnus was an institution!!

I used to sit and watch the show .. and if i got 5 answers correct .. i was really chuffed :):):)

  • Wasn't it Jeremy Paxman that took over from Magnus?

  • no it was john humphreys

  • Thanks Killie ... i stand corrected :) ...

  • mastermind was/is a legitimate quiz game in the uk that is still going today,,this is just a parody of that show

  • Nice one! That was funny.

  • "Little Bo Peep has lost her..."

    "Cardigan."

  • I LOVE the ending to this XD had me in stiches

  • Morcombe And Wise = Comedy Legends!

Shame Eric Died at such a young age, 58. Thats When The Best Ever Comedy Duo Ended. :( This Clip Is Just Hilarious :) I LOVE THEM

  • Brilliant, love Eric and Ernie comedy gold.

  • Absolute classic comedy...

  • lol @ 'this is a rotten game' - classic quality comedy

  • 'Too Right' - 2 for me. Absolutely brilliant.

  • That was brilliant!!Earnie getting wound up classic

  • That's Correct, pull another one up

  • may god bless morcambe and wise

    absolute genius

  • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • wonderfull stuff, most tv is rubbish now, good times,i love to bits, they are in heaven now!

  • this is comedy at its best

  • Im not sure who done it 1st but i think the 2 ronnies mastermind sketch is alot funnier! Its faster and flows alot better! This is a great sketch tho!

  • Magnus magnusson was the ultimate presenter...

    Excellent.

  • As always, perfect timing and delivery from eric but also faultless back up from ernie..superb sketch.I think what always came across with these two was the love and respect for each other as well as the joint ambition to make each sketch as good as it could possibly be ,regardless of who got the funny lines.Thankyou for sharing this with us,Ratpackmanreturns, as you say ABSOLUTE CLASS !!!!!!

  • I love Ernie's smile at 0,29. Such a manic smile, yet in another way lovely.

Beats the Ronnie's version for me. ^-^

  • Briliant

  • 'pass',lol,its the right answer!

    these guys are ledgends

  • Love the last question kyber pass. You could tell it was gonna be something good.

  • Next question....Mr Morecambe..yes that's correct stick another one on..haha

  • These guys were simply fantastic but why do's Eric always shout Arsenal when Ernie coughs?

  • I think it was originally from a 'Mr Memory' sketch where Eric couldn't remember anything and needed prompting from Ernie, and it then became a running joke. (Remember Major Ingram on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?)

  • These guys were legends.

  • "Mr McManus, I'll never watch you wrestle again!"

    Brilliant.

  • "This is a rotten game" - class

  • *cough* ARSENAL!

  • *blah blah blah KABLAH*

    the kyber what?

    ...pass

    CORRECT THE KYBER PASS

    i love that

    ps *cough* ARSENAL!

  • Magnus: Where did you say you tought?

    Ernie: Harrods University....

    Eric:DID HE SAY HARRODS UNIVERSITY?!

    Magnus: Yes....thats correct.....

Eric: Thats it....put that one up as well!

    PRICELESS!

  • I think you mean Harrow University. Not Harrods.

  • I still prefer the 2 ronnies version but this is still quite good

  • i suppose millions love these two but personally, i think that the two ronnies version of mastermind is the better one

  • OMG!

i absolutely love these two guys.

honestly, im in love with them!

    Amazing!

R.I.P Eric'n' Ern! we miss you

  • LOL classic british comedy!!!

  • "Mr Magnusson, I'll never watch you wrestle again!"

    priceless.

  • These two were so awesome, I only caught the latter end of thier TV stint, but I enjoyed thier "chemistry" together, It's such a shame, they have both "departed", as thier comedy won't ever be beaten, But they remain in my heart as one of the best double-act's of the years gone bye.

  • I cannot remember seeing this

    GREAT

  • lol.....

  • Absolutely Brilliant. Eric and Ernie were geniuses. Nobody does it like those two.

    RIP guys, we miss you.

  • Some one needs to upload the Kitchen Sketch. There are uploads on here but they never work.

  • Couldn't agree more. Thanks for posting, haven't seen this for years. Absolute classic. " Maximum 10 points" "I thought I would" Brilliant.

  • Brilliant! A fantastic portrayal of politics in its pure form ;-)

  • One of my favourite Morecambe and Wise sketches. Thanks for uploading! :)
