Gli Holy Martyr sono un'eccellente gruppo di epic metal italiano. Ma non dimentichiamoci gruppi come i Wotan e i DoomSword, punte di diamante dell'epic metal nostrano. Molto meglio (a mio dire) di una band come i Majesty, bravi ma troppo appiattiti al modello Manowar: li scopiazzano in tutto e per tutto.

@Metalhead1908 You should press pause on your mp3 for a bit and read some history. Southern Italy was called Magna Grecia. Ancient Greek colonies spanned from Sicely, to Regium and N(e)apoli, to name a few. So we have a lot in common with the Italians. Haven't you heard? Una Faccia Una Razza.

@Metalhead1908 Lol! Actually, No Hellinic state fought Sicily. Only Athens started an expendition against Syracause, which was the city giving Spartans wheat. And there, Sparta send Lysandros with 7 men (or 8, it was a single boat) to train the Syracause militia. They fought off the Athenians and defeated them. Also, "Tarantas" (Taranto) was the city where some Spartans fled after they were tosses away for political reasons. Now that you know history, please carry on.

Also, east Peloponnese, Crete and some islands of Cyclades have people whose last name points to Venetian descendant. These people were guards or merchants of Venice who choose to settle here after Ottoman invasion, instead of going back home. Furthermore, a bulk of Constantinopole' nobility migrated permanently to Florence and Venice after city's fall.

@TeraFlare93 It's not different.Only some types changed.You know,Greeks have many dialects.Even Latin is a type of the western Greek dialect,Magna Graecia etc.Because of the millions of types,it's difficult for foreigners to understand the Hellenic language.For us,it's the same.Today,we speak the Ionian,Attiki(Athenian) dialect.But there are many more Greek dialects.Macedonian,Thracian,Cypriot(it is still spoken in Cyprus),Epirotan,Latin etc.
@SarisaSoldier Latin is not derived from Greek, although it took a lot of words from this language. It has originated separately too, even if it has been influenced by Greeks, Etruscans and other local populations (I'm quite good at etymology even if i'm only a student of the third year of high school). I know there were and there are many dialects, but they often differ in words' formation (at least this regards the ancient dialects)

When the Spartans haved bronze shields and weapons the norse tribes still lived in caves.I too sympathise more to the norse warriors but i can't deny the truth.Spartans were the most disciple war machine in the arch world.Now we have modern weapons and we rely to our machines so noone will ever truly reach their war training again anymore.

spartans are better trained but the norse are better equipped. both would use sheild-wall tactics with spears. but greek bronze broad-swords would come up short once their spears broke and bronze shields wouldnt hold up long against steel axes, but once a spartan killed a viking and picked up a steel weapon and a re-enforced sheild the norse would have have porblems. BIG PROBLEMS. untill that happened bronze wouldnt do much to a viking dressed in full chainmail

This band is awesome. I'll be looking for this album to support you guys. I'm embarrassed by a couple of fools in the comments who believe that trash talking on anyone is good for your own country... The majority of the Hellenes know about Magna Grecia, Sicelia, the cities, the centuries of common culture and even during the 400 years of the barbaric ottoman occupation the term "Roman" was to describe a pure Greek. Gli Holy Martyr sono un'eccellente gruppo di epic metal italiano. Ma non dimentichiamoci gruppi come i Wotan e i DoomSword, punte di diamante dell'epic metal nostrano. Molto meglio (a mio dire) di una band come i Majesty, bravi ma troppo appiattiti al modello Manowar: li scopiazzano in tutto e per tutto.

@Metalhead1908 You should press pause on your mp3 for a bit and read some history. Southern Italy was called Magna Grecia. Ancient Greek colonies spanned from Sicely, to Regium and N(e)apoli, to name a few. So we have a lot in common with the Italians. Haven't you heard? Una Faccia Una Razza.

@Metalhead1908 Lol! Actually, No Hellinic state fought Sicily. Only Athens started an expendition against Syracause, which was the city giving Spartans wheat. And there, Sparta send Lysandros with 7 men (or 8, it was a single boat) to train the Syracause militia. They fought off the Athenians and defeated them. Also, "Tarantas" (Taranto) was the city where some Spartans fled after they were tosses away for political reasons. Now that you know history, please carry on.

Also, east Peloponnese, Crete and some islands of Cyclades have people whose last name points to Venetian descendant. These people were guards or merchants of Venice who choose to settle here after Ottoman invasion, instead of going back home. Furthermore, a bulk of Constantinopole' nobility migrated permanently to Florence and Venice after city's fall.

...And whatever else you want to say...
("Vale, clare vir" means "Be well, famous man" (it's singular), and "Valete, clari viri" means "Be well, famous men" (plural) )
P.S. : Spartan= Laecedaemonius - ii =P

@TeraFlare93 It's not different.Only some types changed.You know,Greeks have many dialects.Even Latin is a type of the western Greek dialect,Magna Graecia etc.Because of the millions of types,it's difficult for foreigners to understand the Hellenic language.For us,it's the same.Today,we speak the Ionian,Attiki(Athenian) dialect.But there are many more Greek dialects.Macedonian,Thracian,Cypriot(it is still spoken in Cyprus),Epirotan,Latin etc.

@SarisaSoldier Latin is not derived from Greek, although it took a lot of words from this language. It has originated separately too, even if it has been influenced by Greeks, Etruscans and other local populations (I'm quite good at etymology even if i'm only a student of the third year of high school). I know there were and there are many dialects, but they often differ in words' formation (at least this regards the ancient dialects)

When the Spartans haved bronze shields and weapons the norse tribes still lived in caves.I too sympathise more to the norse warriors but i can't deny the truth.Spartans were the most disciple war machine in the arch world.Now we have modern weapons and we rely to our machines so noone will ever truly reach their war training again anymore.

spartans are better trained but the norse are better equipped. both would use sheild-wall tactics with spears. but greek bronze broad-swords would come up short once their spears broke and bronze shields wouldnt hold up long against steel axes, but once a spartan killed a viking and picked up a steel weapon and a re-enforced sheild the norse would have have porblems. BIG PROBLEMS. untill that happened bronze wouldnt do much to a viking dressed in full chainmail

A dire il vero non so ( ma sono più propenso per il no ) se un esercito vichingo fosse o meno in grado di dare problemi alla falange spartana, formazione comunque semplice, tanto da essere sconfitta da quella dei tebani, appena più elaborata.
In ogni caso, quello spartano era un guerriero veramente temibile, votato alla guerra sin da bambino.

credo che in una guerra campale un esercito vichingo avrebbe distrutto un'armata spartana facilemnte....poi ci sono da considerare le condizioni atmopsferiche ,il campo di battaglia e decine di altri fattori!
