  • how to do you optimize for websafe color in online-image-editor??

  • does it work for normal aim?

like just aim instant messenger. not aim 7 or whatever.

  • wtf - online image editor does not have an optimize feature to reduce colors and myimager no longer supports animated gif

  • Yay, ty. :)

  • Works perfectly. Thank you.

  • i want to download it not have it online

  • i did what you said and firefox said that it doesnt know how to open this address because the protocol (aim) isnt associated with the program..help!!!

  • @yukito2123 Reading description solves many many problems: "UPDATE: This method no longer works!"

  • @Briglair Yes, but it still works with the updated site if you read the full description :D

  • @bjcworth I have.. Nowhere in there does it say that it still works. D=

  • @bjcworth "USE online-image-editor OR myimager"

    read again friend

FAMILY REUNION - Joe Budden Ft. Fabolous Ransom & Hitchcock

  • Thanks for the help! I was getting really frustrated with not being able to have my images animated.

  • fudge only if this works on macs.>.>

  • what is the size limit of the icons??? like 15x15?

  • I cannot get past the place where you 'Set Icon'.

The screen shows up and everything, but in the middle is blank and I cannot set the icon. It is just blank.

    Please help!

  • @ttylumfghi

Omg, I'm having the exact same problem! No matter what I do, my avatar just ends up as a blank!

  • You can simply upload them onto your meebo account, sign onto aim and it will be your aim avatar instantly.

  • they said the file size is to big, when its only 45.5?

  • @iL0veJW um maybe cuz that's way too huge?

  • @bjcworth It works up to 64 KB.

  • @bjcworth Um, you're a loser! how is 45.5 way too huge whey YOUR lame-ass outdated video says that it can be 64? Diiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

  • My large image is under 100x100 pixels and it doesn't let me set the large image -.- The small one works, though,

  • I tried it, but I can't seem to get my image below 7.56kb. D: AIM needs 7.0. I am sad now.

  • um gifworks site isnt working, it redirects me to clipart

  • my original gif was 49x49 and i reduced it to 48x48. i couldn't make it into 96x96 however, but that is ok because i didnt want to stretch it

  • thank you this worked!

  • how do u right click the image it dnt work and it doesnt show copy image location

  • I seem to have a rather strange problem.. when setting my icon to the gif I want, I can see what my icon is in my IM windows, but most of my buddies aren't able to see the large version. They can see the small version in their buddy lists, but only the blank silhouette in IMs. They all have AIM 7 so I don't know what the problem is.

  • Can u see the large version just fine? I recommend u do the process over again. If that doesn't work, I suggest trying a new image. Let me know how things turn out.

  • Yes, I, and one other buddy can see the large version just fine. However, most of my other buddies only see the blank person silhouette. I tried reapplying it multiple times, with the same results.

  • hmmm...that definitely is a strange problem. i'll have to look into that and get back to you.

  • If it matters, the icon I'm using is already a 96x96 size, so all I needed to do was do the Websafe Colors/Reduce Colors step.

  • did u upload to an image-hosting site or did u just right click the image on GIFworks and use the url from there?

  • Tried it both ways. Tried hosting it on photobucket, and tried using it straight from gifworks.

  • very very interesting...i recommend u trying another photo and let me know if the same thing happens so then we can go back to this photo and solve the problem.

  • Hey, me again.

I tried it with a different gif and it still can't be seen by most people. This an AIM bug or what?

  • Actually, it seems they're just coming out as white blanks.

  • o__o The last step for the direct links, after I push enter, it says the photo image doesn't exist. @__@

  • You don't necessarily need to upload your images to an imagehosting site, all you have to do is rightclick your image when you are done editing it in gifworks and click "copy image location". Try it that way, since gifworks will erase the image after a few hours, and AIM only needs the url of the image once.

  • im stuck on the part where it says set icon it doesnt do anything everytime i click it

  • Hey, I'm not familiar with that problem but I'll be glad to help you work it out. Care to elaborate a bit more??

  • @bjcworth sure

  • Hey, you're pretty awesome for this.

  • hahaha...thanks, i try. help me out by showing this to everyone u know :) i love to spread the knowledge.

  • What was that thing you put after buddyicon?src=url_of_small_image at 5:56 because idk whats wrong

  • i did the next step ahead of the instructions. the full thing is at the end of the video and in the description.

  • Err when I do this it just pops up the picture selector thing on aim.

  • what do u mean?

  • When I put in the link at the end of the video and start aim through it it just sends me to the place to upload an icon. None of the ones I put in animate either...

  • hmmm...sounds like u put the code in wrong at the end. i had the same problem when i messed up. make sure ur entering it right and let me know how it turns out.

  • dam nice guide man thanks

  • np, one thing i did notice though. when you reduce the colors of your small image, it may come out really crappy looking. if you want you could try clicking "websafe colors" under that "optimize" menu, then clicking "closest match". this should give you a better quality image than if you reduced the colors while giving you that same size reduction. also, it isn't necessary that you upload the image to an imagehosting website; you can just right click it on gif works and click copyimagelocation

  • Help... GifWorks Says error FWorks currently accepts only images that are saved in the GIF (.gif) format. There is also a 400k image size limit... please try again Help :(

  • like the video says, im showing u how to use a GIF image as ur avatar. and GIFworks only uses GIF images...and of course 400k is too big. remember, we need to limit the size to 64k. that kind of reduction is impossible. find a smaller sized image that is a gif and it should work fine.

  • That's not possible because the GIF I'm trying to get on AIM is so small it's the size of a ice cube literally.

  • if it's the size of an ice cube than it's too small as far as dimensions go, but if u are getting the error message about the 400k limit then ur image is may be larger than that in file size, no matter how small the actual dimensions are. and ur gonna want to get an image bigger than something really tiny if ur using AIM 7 cuz remember it allows us to use large icons now.

  • Ok thx... Anyway I don't understand these stuff but thx anyway xD.

  • DENNIStheCHEMIST approves of this vid. It has my seal of approval, may it wave up your day like it did mine.
