This is in no way a Hardcore band. This is pretty strait forward Nu-metal. So yeah I guess you're right, since new metal isn't really metal, its a heavier down tuned version of hard alternative.

Karen really did pave the way for women in metal. Honestly, I don't understand how anyone can think Otep is brutal. In my opinion, that chick is just no good. Their music is also nu-metal.
