It's all a matter of perspective - looking at the Universe from your standpoint. If I look at the sky at night - when the clouds have gone away for a bit - I notice that the stars rotate about an axis that is vertical from the top of my head. Therefore I am at the centre of the Universe. Where I stand is called Guernsey - therefore Guernsey is the centre of the Universe. Ask any of our politicians - they must already know this because they behave as if Guernsey is the centre of the Universe.

I don't know who ever cam up with the "1100 years" but it's wrong. A plane flying 900 km/h will fly 900 x 24 (hours) x 365 (days) = 7.884.000 km each year. Dividing the largest star's diameter with the plane's reach per year: 2.800.000.000 / 78.840.000 = 35.5. The journey will therefore "only" take 35.5 years

And I said it so many times before: Please fly around the star, not TROUGH it. (Contents may be hot) You took the diameter, not circumference. Just multiply your result with Pi. So 1100 is roughly correct.
